Killer Croc is a half-human, half-crocodilian supervillain and a recurring antagonist in The Batman.
This version of the character is similar to the earlier Killer Croc from the Pre-Crisis era, being more intelligent and greedy, focused on obtaining money at the expense of other people's lives, rather than being animalistic and not as smart, or usually written in more sympathetic stories. However, these aspects of the character can still be seen with this incarnation, albeit in the tie-in comics The Batman Strikes!.
He was voiced by Ron Perlman.
His Evil Rankings[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
In General[]
- Killer Croc stands out among the villains in the series, not necessarily for his ambitions of widespread destruction, but for his low resources and his position as a small-time gang leader lacking vast wealth.
The Batman[]
- In his first appearance, he arrives in Gotham City, finds the gang of thugs, and forces them to work for him under the threat of death.
- He tries using the sewage to flood downtown Gotham so it would be easier to rob.
- He attempts to kill Batman by drowning him in water.
- He teams up with Penguin and other villains and participates in their crimes.
- He joins Wrath and Scorn in their theft.
- He and other villains try to kill Rumor after being released from their capture and show no graditude towards Batman and Robin for saving them.
The Batman Strikes![]
- He attempts to blow up the Arkham Asylum Dam.
- He takes the Mayor of Gotham hostage.
- He uses a crocodile to try to kill Batman by luring him into a trap.
- He floods an underground train and the Batcave with a bomb.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is far too tragic to be PE or NPE as he was an experiment that ended up becoming a mutant crocodile in poor conditions, giving him a fear of cages. After he was captured again, he took refuge in a circus where everyone saw him as a freak.
- For all his faults, he has respect for the dead. When it seemed Killer Moth died from exposure to toxic fumes, Croc appears genuinely upset by his death and is disgusted by Penguin's callous disregard for him.
- He fell in love news reporter named Meredeth, believing she was the only one sympathetic to him and understood him.
- He particularly redeems himself after feeling remorse for his crimes and turns himself in to the GCDP, hoping that he could be a man again.
Trivia[]
- He is the only version of Killer Croc to be Inconsistently Heinous.
- Based on the cartoon alone, this version of Killer Croc could have qualified as Pure Evil or Near Pure Evil. However, the tie-in comic series gave him a tragic backstory and some redeeming qualities that make him inconsistent.
