Kabuto Yakushi is a major antagonist in the Naruto anime and manga series. He is a medical ninja who served in the Hidden Leaf Village. Kabuto is the right-hand to Orochimaru and one of the leading figures of the Akatsuki army during the Fourth Ninja World War along with Obito Uchiha.

What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- Kabuto assisted Orochimaru with his unethical experiments. He also helped to goad and manipulate children that Orochimaru targeted in order to have them serve as useful pawns to Orochimaru.
- He betrayed the Hidden Leaf Village and actively supported Orochimaru in his goal to try and destroy the village. Kabuto also actively helped Orochimaru with preparing for the Sand-Sound Leaf Village Invasion during the Chuunin Exams.
- He befriended Team 7 during the Forest of Death exam. However, his reason was to spy on Sasuke and gather information on him to give to Orochimaru.
- After the Sand-Sound Village Invasion of the Hidden Leaf Village, Kabuto travels with Orochimaru to find Tsunade so that she can help Orochimaru restore his arms and resume his plan to destroy the village.
- Kabuto reveals himself as an agent of Orochimaru to Naruto and mocked him when the latter found out the truth.
- Kabuto spills blood on Tsunade knowing that she is hemophobic. He took pleasure in seeing Tsunade in fear and beating her viciously until Naruto stopped him.
- Kabuto manipulates Kimimaro to go on the mission to retrieve Sasuke from the Hidden Leaf Village for Orochimaru. He was fully aware that Kimimaro was not in good health and that he had a high chance of dying on the mission but chooses to send him out regardless. As a result, it led to Kimimaro's death in his battle against Rock Lee and Gaara.
- He antagonizes Team 7 when they were trying to find Sasuke and reunite with him.
- After Orochimaru's defeat and supposed death by Sasuke, Kabuto implants Orochimaru's tissues into his body to try and get more power for himself and would later ally with Obito Uchiha to help him for the upcoming world war.
- He captured and murdered hundreds of people and used them as sacrifices for the Impure World Reincarnation technique. The process involves having his victims covered completely in dust and ash until the undead person takes their place.
- In Power Arc, his progress in perfecting the technique to the point of able to control a whole army of undead ninjas involved deploying some of them to assist Disonasu in claiming Ama no Hoko in exchange of the latter's research data he and Orochimaru made from their past collaborations, much to the disgust of Naruto and others since the ninjas among them were Hayate and Azuma. He also bred special snakes designed to merge into clones of living beings via consuming sufficient amount of the template's DNA in the same occasion. Unfortunately for him, his limited prowess in Impure World Reincarnation technique at the time prevented him from using reincarnated ninjas' might at their fullest and worse, he ultimately scrapped said special snakes because of their short lifespan made them too impractical.
- Kabuto helps Obito power up the White Zetsu army by capturing Yamato so that Obito can use Yamato as a resource to empower the White Zetsus.
- Kabuto fights against Anko during the start of the war and incapacitates her.
- At the beginning of the war, Kabuto murders Fu by using him as a sacrifice to bring Torune back as an undead pawn that Obito just killed.
- During the war, Kabuto revived his undead army and sent them to fight multiple divisions of the Shinobi Alliance. Kabuto is shown to enjoy the power he gets from using Impure World Reincarnation.
- He purposely has the undead ninjas fight against their loved ones during the war to create a traumatizing experience for his enemies. In these cases, the undead ninjas do not want to fight their loved ones as well, but Kabuto forces them to. He designed these instances where for example Shin and Sai fought and where Hiashi and Hizashi fought.
- When he felt like it, Kabuto would take away the personalities of the undead individual and turn them into mindless killing machines like what he did to Nagato, Hanzo, Zabuza, Haku, and many others. As a result, it would lead to more people getting killed.
- He was responsible for the mass murders during the war by reviving the deceased ninjas such as the Seven Swordsman of the Mist massacre on the Third Division Army and Kinkaku's rampage on the First Division Army.
- Kabuto revived an undead Madara Uchiha to see him use his powers. As a result of reviving Madara, he ended up killing thousands of people. Due to Kabuto reviving Madara, he would go on to break out of Kabuto's control and would become an increasingly dangerous threat to everyone to the point of becoming the Ten-Tails Jinchuuriki and casting Infinite Tsukyomi on the world.
- Kabuto revealed to Itachi and Sasuke that his goal was similar to Orochimaru and that he wanted to seek out more power. During his battle against Sasuke and Itachi, Kabuto did not intend to undo his Impure World Reincarnation Technique and intended to stop both brothers.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is ultimately a very sympathetic character. He was insecure and he did not truly know who he was. Then, he was manipulated by Danzo Shimura and was forced into a situation where he fought against his mother-figure, Nono, in a life and death battle. When Nono did not recognize Kabuto, it completely broke his spirit due to his aforementioned insecurity about not knowing who he was. Although this does not excuse any of his actions, it is still played very sympathetically.
- He has people he cares about.
- He loved and cared for his mother figure, Nono, when he lived at the orphanage.
- He respected Orochimaru and was loyal to him. He did not show that he had any agenda against Orochimaru.
- While Kabuto does have his faux-affable moments, he has also shown to have genuinely affable moments to his enemies. At one point, he treated Sakura's wounds when she was injured by an enraged Naruto when he was possessed by the Nine-Tails, though he justifies this as they share a common enemy in the Akatsuki.
- He has a pet the dog moment where he takes his time to heal a wounded Hinata who passed out during Naruto’s match with Neji in the Chunin Exams, even when it served no purpose to his goal.
- After his battle with Itachi and Sasuke during the Fourth Ninja World War, Kabuto chose to overcome his insecurities when Itachi placed him in the Izanami illusion. As a result, he let go of his evil goals and was redeemed,and after overcoming his insecurities through Itachi's Izanami, Kabuto saved Sasuke's life by treating him from a lethal wound that Sasuke got from Madara Uchiha. Kabuto supported the Shinobi Alliance against Madara towards the end of the war.
- After the war, Kabuto is shown to run the orphanage he grew up in as a child and is shown to be welcoming to child clones of Shin Uchiha when they lived there.
