| ~ Jumba once he is arrested |
Dr. Jumba Jookiba is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Wendy Pleakley) of Disney's Lilo & Stitch franchise.
He is a self-proclaimed evil genius, responsible for the creation of the infamous Experiment 626, better known as Stitch and 628 other experiments.
He was voiced by the late David Ogden Stiers. From 2009 onwards, he is currently voiced by Jess Winfield.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous[]
Background[]
- Despite it being illegal and unethical, he created several experiments for Dr. Hämsterviel. Some of which, like Richter and Holio, were capable of causing mass destruction.
Lilo & Stitch[]
- After being arrested by the Galactic Federation, he denied that he created Stitch or any other illegal experiment.
- While he did agree to capture Stitch, it wasn’t out of altruism, as with Pleakley, but only because the Grand Council promised to free him if he did so.
- He took sadistic pleasure in the idea that Stitch would cause mayhem on whatever planet he escaped to.
- He smuggled his other 625 experiments to Earth.
- When he was fired by the Grand Councilwoman, he decided to hunt Stitch his way instead of Pleakley’s way, which meant attacking Stitch’s house.
- During his fight with Stitch, he endangered Lilo's life and ended up destroying her entire house.
- While he did note that Stitch put him through a lot, he still cruelly assaulted Stitch after he had been captured.
Lilo & Stitch: The Series[]
- Even after his redemption, he still does some morally dubious things, such as threatening to design an experiment to poke Pleakley's eye and asking Lilo if she wanted him to rewrite Mertle's personality, though the latter does have an unpleasant one, He also created the dangerous 627 just to put Stitch in his place.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He's ultimately a redeemed villain, as most of his villainous acts happened prior to the events of the first movie, with him growing into a better person and joining Lilo's family in the end. Even if he occasionally does morally dubious things in subsequent media, it is still shown that despite this, Jumba is, at his core, not exactly evil, though he has a questionable moral compass.
- He is too comedic to be NPE. Such examples include him denying to have made illegal genetic experiments only for Stitch to be shown, him saying he prefers to be called an evil genius, him angrily ripping up a newspaper and eating pieces of it in his cell, his slapstick fight with Stitch or some of his experiments being ridiculous annoyance rather than dangerous.
- He has standards, as he was surprised by Stitch's curse words during the trial and was verbally disgusted by Stitch using Lilo as a human shield. He also didn't have any true intention to harm Lilo as he said he wouldn't shoot her and merely moved her aside when she repeatedly hit him with a broom. He also showed sympathy to Nani when he found out that Gantu kidnapped her sister.
- He was affable to Stitch, giving him an outfit after his creation. He also showed sympathy for Stitch's desire to find a purpose in life, assuring that while he intended to dismantle him, he would reassemble him afterwards. As noted above, he also showed a paternal affection to his experiments, sometimes praising them.
- He seems to care about his relatives, as he mentions sending them gifts in the television series. At the very least, he cares about his mother, as he is offended when Stitch insults her.
- He developed a friendship with Pleakley during the first movie.
Trivia[]
- The scene where Jumba fights Stitch in the house was originally going to be more violent and less comedic, with Jumba throwing a switchblade containing several medieval weapons of human design at Stitch, trying to shoot him multiple times, and throwing sharp objects at him. While he still would have remained IH due to his redemption, it nonetheless still would have been dark on Jumba's part.
- He is the only Lilo & Stitch character to be both Inconsistently Heinous and Inconsistently Admirable.
- He is currently the only former non-villain to have been reevaluated and decided that he was a villain and approved as Inconsistently Heinous after the non-villains ban.
- He is also technically the only non-villain to have been approved during the non-villains ban before it was lifted, though he is now considered a villain.
- He is also overall one of six former non-villains to have gotten a Villains Wiki page, the others being Annoying Orange, Boe, Boggo, Gumball Watterson, and MePhone4.
- He is one of the few Inconsistently Heinous villains to become Love Exalted, due to his redemption.
- His live-action counterpart doesn't count as IH due to having much less redeeming factors, being more malevonent and barely having any comedic moments. With the sequel in works, this may going to change.
