His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
Debated Validation[]
- Whether he feels remorse or not for his actions is far too debatable, as whilst he has a literal death wish in taunting and playfully antagonising his fellow inmates about his crimes, he may also be repenting to avoid divine retribution, and his angst over his crimes seems to be self-pity more than remorse.
Overview[]
- Even as a child, he had a habit of torturing small animals after being shown by his father how to dissect them.
- He murdered Steve Hicks after he rejected his homosexual advances by beating him with a dumbbell before strangling him to death.
- Although he did seem to be affected and horrified by what he had done afterwards, he notably states that his family will never talk to him again, and gets over Hicks' death after he disposes of him, showing he is more worried about the consequences than actually feeling remorse over murder.
- Even when he stopped killing for a while, he would pick men up from the club to take them to a bathhouse and drug them to have his way with them, one guy was even left unconscious; this made Dahmer blacklisted from the bathhouse.
- He masturbated in public at the state fair where children could see him.
- He started killing again after stopping for 9 years.
- He killed a 14 year old boy after drugging him and drilling a hole in his head, effectively turning the boy into his sex slave, making him guilty of pedophilia.
- He landed himself a year in prison for sexually assaulting that 14 year old’s older brother.
- He murdered more than a dozen people, picking gay men up from bars, luring them to his house, drugging them and then raping/killing them.
- He kept the men’s body parts and performed necrophilic acts with them, even eating some of them and keeping body parts in his grandmother’s house.
- He drugged Ronald Flowers and would have killed him if his grandma had not stopped him.
- He developed a relationship with a mute young man named Tony Hughes before killing him with an hammer, cooking and later eating Tony's liver.
- His crimes had an effect on his neighbors like Glenda Cleveland, who was severely traumatized by the noises and smells coming from his apartments.
- He captured Tracy Edwards and was going to kill him and eat his heart before he escaped.
- While John Wayne Gacy was much worse, not only is it that most of his crimes were offscreen making Dahmer stand out, but Dahmer's actions of dismembering and eating his victims make him stand out as well. Torturing animals when he was a kid is also unique.
What Makes him Inconsistent?[]
- He is played for sympathy far too often to be PE or NPE, despite his horrific crimes and the impact they had on the families of his victims. The series does this by showing parts of Dahmer’s life, from childhood up to his adulthood, that led him to becoming the monster he was when he died, including how he felt like an outcast growing up and had difficulty forming connections with other kids his age, as well as his own family members.
- His suppression of his homosexuality is an aspect about his character that is arguably the most sympathetic, and it feeds into him feeling like an outcast in society.
- He did hold some genuine care for his family, as well as insecurity and he was happy that his dad is willing to forgive him.
- He did seem to genuinely care about Tony Hughes, as he hesitated to drug and kill him (doing so to keep Tony from "leaving" him), even initially letting him go and he donated money to his family after Tony's death out of guilt.
- He showed genuine concern for Jesse Anderson when the latter was being beaten to death by Christopher Scarver.
Trivia[]
- Ironically, despite the series painting Jeffery Dahmer in a sympathetic light, he is an unintentionally despised character for a majority of people, due to the fact that many people find it incredibly insensitive and disgusting for the series to inaccurately portray an actual serial killer, rapist and pedophile who horrifically raped and murdered many innocent people as a someone who could be sympathized with or redeemed (especially for the victim's families who had PTSD for what Dahmer did to their loved ones).
