Jax is one of the five deuteragonists of The Amazing Digital Circus web series created by Glitch Productions.
Like the rest of the cast, he was once an ordinary human who was transported to the world of the Digital Circus after putting on a VR headset. While the other characters are legitimately virtuous people either traumatized by or solemnly accepting of their time in the circus, Jax is a sociopathic thrill-seeker with a twisted sense of humor who regularly harms others psychologically for his own amusement and entertainment, and is often seen abusing and tormenting the rest of the cast on a regular basis.
He was voiced by Michael Kovach.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Make Him Heinous?[]
PILOT[]
- He usually bullies the residents at the digital circus on a daily basis, most prominently Ragatha and Gangle (the latter being his favorite victim to pick on and push around the most).
- He abandoned Ragatha and Pomni upon seeing the abstracted Kaufmo, although to be fair, this was justified as there was nothing Jax could've done against him and Pomni herself did the same thing afterwards.
- He also pulled a cruel prank on Ragatha earlier in the episode by hinting a "surprise" being left in her room to find by questioning her one strong fear of centipedes, which has Jax acting shameless once he revealed his own prank to her in order to torment her further and also taunt her about it once Ragatha questioned his actions. Although he did imply he could've just being joking to get a reaction out of her.
- Not to mention he intended to harass Kaufmo before finding out his abstracted state.
- Despite the fact Jax has keys to everyone's rooms, Ragatha and Pomni don't seem comfortable of the fact (especially Ragatha being bothered by this, also implies Jax is practically invading her personal space as well).
- He outright admits he doesn't want to help Zooble in their predicament by stating Zooble was being "rude" after Zooble was frustrated for nobody freeing them and let the Gloink Queen eat them.
- He's so petty he doesn't really care about anyone's well being ever since day one, as he admits he's fine with anything as long as he sees amusing predicaments happening to people, right after Jax smugly mocked Pomni for trying to believe being in the circus world was just some dream (as well as throwing a bowling ball at Kinger to make him and Gangle fall down a hole) in the pilot.
Candy Carrier Chaos![]
- He is outright bloodthirsty towards NPC's at times, like expressing a desire to shoot the gator bandits repeatedly until they're "unrecognizable" in episode 2. He also deliberately endangered Pomni by throwing her out of a truck in a violent and aggressive fashion, forcing Pomni to cling onto both trucks with her elastic arms, which Jax intended to make her a bridge so he could kill these bandits, and blackmailed Gangle into ramming the truck she was driving into the truck the bandits were in.
- Additionally, when the bandits truck activated spikes that would damage Gangle's truck and everyone inside, Jax insisted on Gangle ramming the truck, resulting in Ragatha getting impaled.
- He puts the blame on Gangle for causing a truck crashing incident and getting pulled over the edge of a cliff even when it wasn't completely her fault.
- He agreed with the Fudge him devouring the candy people isn't murder if its "delicious".
- He threatens to let the Fudge eat Ragatha if she doesn't stop talking while also insulting her hair looking like liquorice a few times with no remorse.
- He expresses disappointment there wasn't a final battle with "bloodshed, death and chaos".
- Infamously, he unleashes the Fudge onto all of the Candy Canyon Kingdom residents, which would presumably lead to death of thousands of innocent people in said kingdom. Even if the world possibly stops existing when the circus member's leave, he still attempted to get the candy people devoured and while he did honor his deal with the Fudge, this was mostly due to his own sadism rather than honor.
The Mystery of Mildenhall Manor[]
- He sucked up Ghostly with a vacuum cleaner while he was acting as their guide, although he did seem to truly think it was their mission to do so.
- He threw Gangle's comedy mask down the scary door with malicious intent while also making light out of the situation he had caused, leading to Pomni and Kinger accidentally going down there and suffering in a maze they needed to get themselves out of. Not to mention Jax also showed annoyance at the fact when he couldn't leave the adventure early without leaving Pomni and Kinger behind.
Fast Food Masquerade[]
- He placed a suggestion in the Suggestion Box that involves Zooble being turned into a piñata and getting beaten up by everyone in the circus.
- He throws Ragatha in the deep fryer and leaves her there for about a minute.
- He insults Gangle to her face by saying he prefers her more when she's sad, which chips away at her sanity a bit. This is also one of the many contributions that almost results in Gangle abstracting towards the end of the day had Pomni not stepped in.
What Make Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is far too comedic to be NPE, as almost none of his actions are really taken seriously and he's only played for laughs, such examples include:
- His supercilious sarcastic smugly sassy attitude being a recurring prominent trait of his character ever since the pilot (ex. teasing Pomni to grab her headset to pull it off in a duplicitous fashion, claiming he needed consent before seeing Gloink Queen's utterly disgusting appearance, stating his reason for pairing up Kinger and Gangle being the most "stable" characters and how hungry he can be even if he didn't do anything).
- The way he was laying down with an alluring pose and a wink in the show's intro in the pilot.
- His flamboyant way of walking when he, Pomni and Ragatha were heading to Kaufmo's room, and the way he addressed Ragatha by saying "don't worry dollface".
- Using Zooble's detachable arm as a backscratcher before immediately getting choked by Zooble with said arm with a cartoonish hurt face.
- Faking sympathy for Zooble getting "killed" by Gloinks taking them apart and then acting like nothing happened by asking Pomni and Ragatha if they wanted to get something to eat.
- The scene where he breaks a SPARE sign with his bare hands and knee after kicking a bowling pin.
- Telling Zooble to be quiet so he could hear the escalator.
- The moment he expresses his intense disappointment for the lack of chaos and bloodshed while sitting down, and then suddenly mocking Ragatha for her "wholesome" attempt to reassure him.
- Getting tied up by Ragatha for messing with Gangle again (while also showing annoyance at being bound and gagged, and him rolling his eyes at Ragatha saying how much the group cares about Pomni).
- Telling Caine to never call anyone "meowing milkmaids" anymore with a look of contempt.
- Both unleashing the Fudge and dropping Ragatha in the deep fryer are both played for black comedy, with none of the other circus members caring when he does all of these things.
- The moment he taunted Ragatha by saying "you're wasting your time Raggy", the moment looked frustrated while in disbelief that Gangle got to be the shift manager in the Spudys adventure, and not to mention the moment he randomly tripped over and fell on the ground before entering the Spudsy's dimension through a portal.
- Almost everything that happens to him at Spudsy's, especially the moment he exclaims how much he hates Orbsman out of the blue and when he's forced to watch the "employee training video", as well as repeatedly getting angry while looking at the clock and seeing barely any time has passed (before everyone realizes its broken).
- In the Japanese Ad for The Amazing Digital Circus, his taunts he did to ridicule and torment Pomni as well as convincing Pomni to stay away from a abstracted character is all played for comic effect, not to mention the moment when Pomni attacked Jax in retaliation by yanking his ears and whacking him on the head before Jax fell over (as well as putting a hand on Pomni's face to tease her angry side) was played for slapstick humor.
- He occasionally demonstrates some standards. One of the things he draws the line at is abstraction, as he was genuinely horrified when realizing Kaufmo himself had abstracted.
- While he is pretty mischievous, he does have some care for the other players, as he knows they can't actually be killed or seriously harmed by any of his actions:
- While violent, he still technically saved Kinger and Gangle when he heard abstracted Kaufmo coming by throwing a bowling ball at them. He also told white-lies to them about Kaufmo's condition so they wouldn't panic and later downplayed it to Gangle as well whens she finds out Kaufmo had abstracted. Furthermore, the aforementioned Japanese ad (officially approved by Glitch) shows him allowing Pomni to come with him rather than push her into the abstracted player, showing Jax is consistent in not wanting the other's to be harmed by abstracted monsters.
- Though he tried hiding it by not attending, he did appear to be saddened for a brief second when the others talk about Kaufmo's funeral before it even happened. It's also shown he either loaned him his bowling ball or the two mutually shared ownership of it, which implies they had a decent friendship despite Jax wanting to harass him. Also when Caine locked Kaufmo in the cellar, he was seen clinching his fists and had an upset expression on his face for Kaufmo.
- In episode 4, he managed to strike up a genuine conversation with Pomni while working at Spudsy's, much to her genuine surprise. He notably maintained this side of affability even after the adventure was over, as demonstrated by him, Pomni, and Kinger having a casual conversation back at the circus.
- He is sometimes played for some slight sympathy on a few small occasions, like his reaction to Kaufmo's funeral and him being punished by Manager Gangle throughout episode 4, with Jax appearing to be genuinely depressed that he couldn't get up to his usual antics and then collapsing face-first on the steering wheel from pure exhaustion once he was finally allowed to leave.
- The latter scene also implies that Jax might be insecure about showing vulnerability in front of others (given his usually sadistic behavior he shows publicly), as he refused to show a depressed frown until after he made sure he was alone.
Trivia[]
- He, The Fudge and Caine (ZAMination) are so far the only TADC characters to be IH. He and The Fudge are the only TADC IHs in the canon.
- Since new Digital Circus episodes are coming, and Gooseworx saying the 6th episode will be about Jax, then his status may change. Gooseworx has stated Jax deserves to be trapped the most, and while he's not heroic but she's also stated "he has a few lines he wouldn't cross" and is a "troubled individual" with "a reason why he acts the way he does".
