Inconsistently Heinous Wiki

Izou is a major antagonist of the dark fantasy manga series Akame ga Kill!. He was formerly a wandering swordsman before being recruited by Syura into joining Wild Hunt.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • Prior to joining wild hunt he was a wandering swordsman who engaged into battles to the death with anyone he encountered.
  • After joining wild hunt, he murdered several prisoners of the empire by slicing them in half with his sword Kousetsu.
  • While the rest of Wild Hunt was “investigating” Umatora Theatre and committing all kinds of atrocities to the actors, he stood outside and killed anyone who tried to escape by slicing them in half and he managed to kill hundreds of people.
  • When the trainees of the imperial fist attacked wild hunt after they found out they killed their master, Izou killed them by slashing them until they slowly bled out to death.
  • Along with the rest of wild hunt he hung the bodies of the trainees upside down and ate stolen fruits just to disrespect them.
  • He murdered Lubbock by slicing him in half while Lubbock was defenceless because he was tortured by Syura.
  • He also had no loyalty towards Syura as he had no problem with destroying Shambhala.
  • When half of wild hunt was killed Izou, along with Dorothea and Cosmina raided an outpost of the revolutionary army and killed hundreds of people.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He is quite honorable and affable, as he respects any strong opponent he comes across as before killing him he professes his respect towards Lubbock for his will to live, he also greatly respects Akame for her strong technique with a Katana and he offered to give her his sword Kousetsu after she successfully killed him. He also genuinely respects Night Raid in general as strong opponents.
  • Izou has moral agency issues as while he is quite intelligent, he hallucinates and believes that his sword Kousetsu is possessed and talking to him and ordering him to kill people in order to “feed” Kousetsu, making his bloodlust more of a mental illness rather than any form of sadism.
  • He has a genuine friendship with his fellow wild hunt member Cosmina, as they are affable to one another and he is genuinely relieved when she recognizes him after she suffered brain damage and was transformed into a monster. He is also slightly affable to Dorothea as he shows concern for her during battle.
  • Unlike other Wild Hunt members he refuses to commit rape and torture, meaning he has standards, which is something exceedingly rare in Akame ga Kill! Where all kinds of horrific crimes are committed. however this is because he views rape and torture as unnecessary rather than being morally disgusted by the crimes.

Trivia[]

  • Izou along with Kurome are the only Akame ga Kill! inconsistently heinous villains. They were also both considered villainous benchmarks before it was found out they each passed their standards for a unique reason, in Izou’s case it is because he has one of the highest kill counts in the series with brutal killing methods despite having very low resources.
