~ Henchman correcting the Devil with Cuphead's name. |
Henchman is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside King Dice) of the Netflix animated series The Cuphead Show!. As his name suggests, he is the henchman, lieutenant and right-hand man of the Devil and tries to help him in any way he can, including the suffering of trillions of souls.
He is voiced by series creator Dave Wasson.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- Since he is the Devil's right-hand man, Henchman assists the Devil with his heinous acts, such as stealing trillions of souls to be suffered and helps the Devil rule the Underworld.
- He is the one that alerted the Devil that the soul counter stopped while he sang his musical number when Cuphead was impressing everyone with his constant victories in winning the Soul Ball game. This means that he indirectly caused the conflict between The Devil and Cuphead that lasted throughout the whole series and the former being obsessed with stealing the latter's soul.
- It is revealed that Henchman is the one that told the Devil that King Dice failed to get Cuphead's soul when he watched the recent episode of Roll the Dice, causing the Devil to fire King Dice and causing Roll the Dice to cancel. While King Dice deserved it, it is later revealed in Season 3 that it caused him to be homeless.
- He is also indirectly responsible for the Devil wreaking havoc across Inkwell Isles by giving him ideas to do so. Furthermore, he is fully aware of the casualties the Devil causes and doesn't show remorse for it, instead he admires it.
- Had it not been for him, the Devil wouldn't have noticed Cuphead and Mugman sneaking out of hell in "The Devil's Revenge", which caused some destruction in the Underworld.
- Showed no empathy towards the Devil when he got attacked by dogs in the Christmas Special, only encouraging him to "stay jolly".
- While the Devil and Cala Maria did worse, the Henchman stands out due to his meager resources. He additionally lacks the powers both the Devil and Cala Maria have.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Most of the time, he is a grey-zoned anti-villain, as he works for the Devil. His worst actions of encouraging the Devil to steal Cuphead's soul and terrorizing Inkwell Isles are actually done to encourage the Devil rather than any malicious intentions.
- Like many other characters, Henchman is too comedic for NPE, as he is barely taken seriously and doesn't darken the mood like the Devil does.
- He cares about many people listed below:
- The Devil: He is genuinely loyal to him and respects him. He also tries to genuinely help the Devil about any important information he needs to know.
- King Dice: Despite being the one that got him fired in the first place, he is a fan of him, as he requested an autograph for King Dice when they were on the elevator to the Underworld.
- Mugman: He shows some respect towards him and tells the Devil not to underestimate him.
- Chalice: He shows some sympathy towards her, as he wished her good luck when seeing the Devil, was mortified when the Devil demonstrated Chalice's gruesome death and showed sympathy when she had to betray Cuphead and Mugman.
- Santa Claus: He respects Santa Claus and happily asks the Devil to go to the North Pole to meet Santa.
- He is also too affable for NPE, as he always speaks in a kind manner in general. Although the only person he isn't affable to is Stickler, it's justified, given the fact that he constantly nags the Devil into doing his job.
- There is one moment where he comes off as incompetent, as he trips on the floor and lands on a trombone when he is the new host of Roll the Dice.
- He is somewhat a scapegoat, as he gets bashed in the head by the Devil when he corrected Cuphead's name and being trapped in a bubble for an entire episode and having to do nothing but sleep.
- He has a few moral standards, such as getting horrified when one of the third finest demons killed another one, being reluctant to unleash the Four Horsemen to reach Cuphead's soul, was unnerved when the Devil demonstrated Chalice's gruesome death if she didn't steal Cuphead and Mugman's soul and being disappointed that the Devil didn't keep their deal where he goes on a holiday to Hawaii.
