“ | I... I saw it. It looked right at me. It did! Remina looked me right in the eye! Remina knows about us, knows we're here! That's why... it's coming for us... | „ |
Hellstar Remina is the titular main antagonist of the Junji Ito manga of the same name.
A gigantic alien organism from another dimension, Remina was initially mistaken for an exoplanet by human observers on Earth. Remina is extremely hostile, and has a single goal in mind; to rampage through the universe, destroying and/or devouring any planets and stars in its path. Remina set its sights on Earth after it determined the planet was host to sentient life.
Its Evil Ranking[]
Debated Validations[]
- It had eaten billions upon billions of planets, moons, and stars across the multiverse, which possibly means that it had claimed the lives of trillions if not more.
What Makes It Heinous?[]
- One of the scientists observing the hellstar goes insane after spotting one of its thousands of eyes staring back at him.
- The Hellstar is shown to be extremely powerful, being able to charge into planets much larger than it, such as Jupiter and Saturn, and smashing them to bits.
- Before it eats the Earth, the Hellstar eats the moon first.
- The hellstar extends its gigantic tongue onto the surface of the Earth, and licks it across Japan, which both splits the country in half, and causes a humongous tsunami.
- This also leads to the Earth's rotation getting disrupted, which tosses the entire world's population across it. A chunk of its population die when they fall onto Japan in an attempt to kill Remina.
- It eats the Earth, which claims the lives of billions of people.
- When its discoverer names it after his daughter Remina, this inadvertently causes a massive world-wide mob that is trying to track her down and kill her, as conspiracy theories circulate that she and her father had been summoning it to gain fame, and must sacrifice Remina in order to save the planet.
- When a group of elites from Earth attempt to reside on the planet after President Mineishi came to believe it to be habitable, it uses its tentacles to trick the Mineishi familiy into thinking their eldest son Daisuke is alive on there. The tentacle reveals itself when they approach it using a discarded space suit.
What Makes It Inconsistent?[]
- Although it possesses sentience, it does not display any clear characterization or goals beyond just wanting to eat everything that it comes across, making it a GDV.
- Assuming the hellstar has any real sapience, it may not be entirely evil, as it always seems to spare Remina the girl as it is attacking the Earth, and only seems to do so when she is on the brink of being killed by the cult. Even at the very end of the manga, when Remina and a group of 5 other people escape into the Mineishi's bomb shelter, it is one of the few chunks of the Earth that remain when the hellstar eats the planet.
