This article pertains to an Inconsistently Heinous with more than one version who is Inconsistently Heinous!

Curse you, Perry the Platypus!
~ Dr. Doofenshmirtz's usual catchphrase after being frequently defeated.

Ah, Perry the Platypus! What an unexpected surprise. And by unexpected, I mean completely expected!
~ Doofenshmirtz when trapping Perry in his trap.

Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz is the main antagonist of the Disney Channel animated series Phineas and Ferb.

He was an evil scientist who used to be arch enemies with an anthropomorphic platypus secret agent named Perry the Platypus, who foils almost all of his semi-evil schemes, though a few turn out to be successful. In Milo Murphy's Law, he is revealed to be the former identity of Professor Time, the future inventor of time travel.

He is voiced by the series co-creator Dan Povenmire.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • Throughout the series, he has made numerous attempts to take over the Tri-State Area.
  • He caused a massive power outage in Danville.
  • He trapped every mime in Danville in actual invisible boxes just because he hated them.
  • He attempted to reverse the rotation of the Earth.
  • He tried to make all of the Fireside Girls turn invisible just cause Katie and Gretchen offered him cupcakes.
  • He created a deadly laser specifically for the purpose of killing anyone that couldn’t make up their minds.
  • He tried to freeze everyone at a talk show to create a lifesized chess game.
  • In order to win a golf game with his brother, Roger, he made the Accelerate-inator to speed up the game, later saying that the machine could potentially destroy the universe, yet he still used it in spite of that.
    • While it could be argued that he was bluffing when he said this, we see the machine making rifts to other dimensions and reverse time when it was destroyed which proved his point that the machine had destructive consequences.
  • He brainwashed an entire crowd to help him rule the Tri-State Area.
  • In his Shark Tank pitch, he mentioned that he tried to shrink City Hall and hold it for ransom.
    • He also included self-destruct buttons on the inator he was going to sell, potentially endangering people.
  • He fueled all his negative memories to transform into a giant monster, at which point he would have killed Perry had Perry not pulled his wallet to show pictures of their friendship to change him back.
  • He moved the Earth farther from the Sun, which led to summer ending and served as the reason why L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N. nearly plunged the world into an endless Ice Age.
  • He turned his brother Roger into a clone of himself so that the Tri-State Area citizens would hate him for how ugly he looked. And when he inadvertently started a zombie apocalypse with the others turning into clones of himself too, he temporarily embraced it and used it as an attempt to take over the Tri-State Area, only stopping after they turned on him and realizing this put Vanessa's well-being at risk.
  • In the TV movie Across the 2nd Dimension, he willingly helped his alternate counterpart kidnap and attempt to kill Phineas, Ferb, Candace, and Perry.
  • In his old age, he became jealous of other people having mid-life crisises and in the process of mimicking them, he caused several property destruction and almost himself killed several times, which shows that his carelessness and incompetency can still be dangerous even when he's redeemed.
  • Despite most of his crimes relying on Fridge Horror, Doofenshmirtz was able to meet the high heinous standards of Phineas and Ferb in the episode "She's The Mayor", where he risked destroying the entire universe.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He is way too comedic and extremely incompetent to be anything higher than Inconsistently Heinous, with his "inators" always comically failing (usually due to him putting self-destruct buttons on them) and him being made a joke during his run-ins with Perry the Platypus, his evil deeds being primarily mischievous on others, him not being able to know what Perry looks like without a fedora, him only being capable of making inators as inventions, him being defeated by the inanimate Planty the Potted Plant, and him getting beaten up by Sergei the Snail.
  • He is frequently affable to pretty much everyone, as he treats Perry pretty well even when they're trying to off each other, shows genuine respect over him being a worthy enemy, and is always nice to Phineas and Ferb whenever they interact.
  • He has standards, as he hated L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N's plan to cause an eternal Ice Age and left the group due to this, is disgusted and disappointed by his 2nd Dimension counterpart’s actions stemming from an unbelievably petty and laughable motive (losing his toy Choo-Choo train), and is shocked by Rodrigo’s plan to destroy the Tri-State Area and rule the world. He also didn’t want to fight Perry when he was stuck in Candace’s body, because of societal norms saying nobody should hit a girl.
  • He cares for his daughter, Vanessa, ex-wife, and his robotic creation, Norm. He always makes sure the former has a nice birthday, still keeps in touch with Charlene even though things didn't work out between them, and while he does abuse Norm at first, he gradually came to care for him like a son and made him a part of his family.
  • He has many tragic backstories, such as his parents inexplicably failing to show up to his birth, him being forced to become a lawn gnome after his parents had to give up their lawn gnomes, his only friend being a balloon he found in a carnival named Balloony and accidentally letting it go, his parents abandoning him and forcing him to live with ocelots, and him being forced to wear pretty dresses since they were out of supplies and causing his peers to laugh at him. These past hardships form the motivation behind many of his evil schemes, with there even an episode longer than an average episode which shows all the horrible things that happened throughout his life, showing how sympathetic he is.
  • His sympathetic backstories, as well as his bumbling incompetence, ultimately make him a scapegoat due to him having such a miserable life from start to finish. In fact, his tragic past holds up far to much to even make him qualify as a Karma Houdini.
  • Even though he often acted like he has a knack for doing his evil deeds, he is legitimately a villain by proxy, since as stated in his sympathetic backstories, he tried picking up every hobby he could to be better in life, only turning to villainy once he failed at everything else and trying to find resolutions to each part of his tragic past.
    • By the series finale, even his daughter Vanessa points out that he’s only pretending to be evil and deep down he is a really nice person. Once Heinz hears that and realizes that he still has a chance to be good thanks to the love of his daughter, he starts to feel immense remorse for his actions.
  • He started off as On & Off, with him sometimes putting his differences with Perry aside and teaming up with him to fight worse threats, even passing the admirable standards of Phineas and Ferb by doing so. Eventually, he decides to stay good as he redeems himself in both the Season 4 finale where he willingly becomes a high school science teacher and in Milo Murphy's Law where he is revealed to be the identity behind Professor Time and promises to make inators for only good reasons.

Trivia[]

  • He is the only Phineas & Ferb character to be both Inconsistently Admirable and Heinous at the same time. However, he is arguably much more inconsistent at being heinous than he is at being admirable because of his phenomenally large tragic past listed here and he even gradually reformed away from his villainous traits such as his hatred over Perry, also he is much less controversial on IA due to how easy he is to scale.
  • His status on this wiki is ironic, because almost all of his schemes are petty, his machines usually don't do much harm, and his plans are so small-scale that he doesn't want to conquer the world, but only the Tri-State Area. All these three factors make it easy to believe he was purposefully written for Villainous Benchmark. However, his scheme in "She's the Mayor" was enough to make him IH.
  • Ironically, despite being less evil and successful than his 2nd Dimension counterpart, he is more heinous due to the fact his 2nd dimension counterpart suffers from offscreen villainy and Fridge Horror and comes off as a typical “Kill the heroes” Villain.
