She is a passenger on the Infinity Train and the leader of The Apex, a group comprised of young passengers. She was voiced by Kirby Howell-Baptiste.
Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Heinous?[]
- She does have some comedic moments, but it's still doesn't detract her from her villainy, showing how racist, manipulative, and cruel she truly is.
- Demonstrated early signs of negative behavior as a young child, shoplifting and showing her emotional manipulation to another young girl.
- Created the Apex, a force of violent children obsessed with getting their numbers as high as possible and slaughtering the passengers of the train while plundering their cars. She also created the idea of “Wheeling” passengers, kicking them off the train to be macerated by the Wheels.
- Inducted Simon as the first member of the cult, implanting him with the beliefs that would ultimately get him killed, even if him refusing to reconsider was his responsibility at a certain point. When first confronted, she lied to him to his face by claiming that she completely understood the Train, “knew all about numbers”, and that the point was to get your number as high as possible.
- Was virulently hateful and bigoted against Denizens, who are shown to be just like any other person even if they aren’t human.
- Admits she created the cult for her own personal ego and to receive praise and attention that she was denied in the human world.
- By inducting members of the cult, she would prevent numerous young children from returning to their parent’s homes for years, massively expediting the process of returning home and warping their minds.
- Attempts to emotionally manipulate Jesse into abandoning Lake and Alan Dracula to join the cult.
- Summons the Flecs via a reflective surface, knowing that they intend to kill Lake.
- Raided the Musical Car, killing most of its denizens while keeping a few as trinkets.
- Intended to induct Hazel into the Apex and convince her to abandon, initially using manipulative language while intending to do so.
- She is shown to be a total hypocrite:
- When Hazel asks her about Tuba not having value due to being a “null”, she claims that she’s “one of the good ones”, when she herself isn't a good person by causing some chaos by torturing and killing some denizens.
- Despite being a racist passenger, she is very hostile towards the denizens (except Tuba) and views them as "Nulls" all because they don't have numbers and they're not even humans/passengers, but when Hazel (is a failed attempt clone of Alrick created by Amelia) who is revealed to be a denizen in her turtle form, she decides to protect and save her from Simon and his wrath because Hazel is still her friend and she's still a young child that it is heavily implied that Simoikely try to kill her if he found out about her denizen form, but it's still left ambiguous.
- She angrily scolds Simon for wheeling and killing Tuba against her explicit orders, when she's the one who made the idea to wheel denizens and gave it to him and The Apex.
- Gives into Simon’s pressure and loudly yells at Hazel and calls her a null, rejecting her and causing Hazel to leave with Amelia.
- Despite abandoning and feeling remorse for every aspect of her prior ideology, the narrative makes it clear that Grace will have to live with the weight of her crimes for the rest of her life and they can never fully be rectified or undone.
- After she redeemed herself, she's still responsible for molding Simon into becoming the way he is today.
- She's also indirectly responsible for Tuba's death, leading Hazel to lose all of her happiness.
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- Her backstory is sympathetic, as she was the victim of abusive stage parents that caused her to lash by attempting to garner attention and made her incredibly insecure and desperate for emotional validation, resulting in her forming the Apex. However, she herself recognizes that this isn’t an excuse for her actions, meaning this is ultimately minor.
- Cared for the children of the Apex and Simon, who was her closest friend that she saved from being killed by a Ghom. By keeping them in the Apex, she also protected several young children from being harmed by the elements of the outside world.
- Even before learning the truth about the Train, her mentality began evolving, as she gained a liking towards Tuba and after discovering Hazel herself was a denizen, she attempted to keep it a secret to avoid Simon killing her. She also mourns Tuba’s death.
- She felt immense remorse for all of her actions upon re-considering her belief system, including inducting Simon into the cult, despite his continued affiliation being a result of his own choices.
- After discovering the truth of the train, she rejects the Apex ideology wholesale, discards most of her corrupting traits, and spends the rest of the season taking accountability for her actions and desperately attempting to reach Simon, and mourned his death despite him attempting to kill her after she saved his life, while trying to ensure the children of the former Apex will one day return home.
