| “ | When those fleeting lives destined to die, forget their humbleness and sing praises of their glory, such will shake the very heavens and split the Earth, and they shall know the wrath of the divine. The inevitable incarnation of destruction. So, you show yourself at last. Since we last saw each other, it has been 20 years for us and 20,000 years for you. It's been a while... Oh, King of Destruction. | „ |
| ~ Metphies describing Godzilla Earth's inescapable wrath as he awakens. |
Godzilla Earth (ゴジラ・アース, Gojira Āsu) is the titular main antagonist of Toho Animation and Polygon Pictures' GODZILLA anime trilogy.
He is a colossal plant-based kaiju who evolved to become the most powerful lifeform on the Earth. First emerging in 2030, Godzilla laid waste to human civilization and resisted every countermeasure viable enough to defeat him, even with the methods provided by the Exif and Bilusaludo aliens. After 15,000 survivors abandoned the Earth in 2048, Godzilla establised himself as the sole undisputed ruler of the Earth for 20,000 years, terraforming the planet into his own territorial image, and spawning multiple new creatures from his genetic cells: the Servum and Godzilla Filius.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
In General[]
- While he isn't as heinous as Ghidorah, who was an interdimensional draconic-like entity whose gyrokinetic powers help him to cosmically destroy planets, Godzilla can't do so because he lacks this capacity but he still stands out since he had essentially committed genocide against his own kind, including almost the entirety of humanity.
- If one compares him to MonsterVerse Godzilla, who allows humanity and other Titans to coexist as long as they not disturb the Earth's natural balance, or other Godzilla incarnations, who are tragic monsters with plenty of redeeming qualities, Godzilla Earth shows no mercy to humanity and other kaiju, despite them holding no threat to his existence, nor he can have any tragedy due to him being formerly a plant which didn't feel conscious to experience trauma before evolving to become a powerful kaiju.
- He has a clear moral agency, and as stated by Metphies, he will "never let humanity flee" due to intentionally chasing after everyone in his path, going as far as to destroy one of the landing ships trying to flee from him. Combined with the fact that he has no tragedy, it can be assumed he has no excuse nor remorse in his actions.
- Although he protects the Earth from potential threats, like Gorath, Mechagodzilla City and Void Ghidorah, it is only a cool-off moment done out of pragmatism because he only does this to value and keep his own territory stable and safe from threats.
- Because he outsmarts all of humanity's countermeasures to kill him, he never gets punished for his many successful actions.
Background[]
- Prior to the trilogy, he kills all the kaiju in the Earth, wipes 90% of humanity out (including separating Haruo Sakaki's parents from their son), and outsmarts all of humanity's viable countermeasures to kill him. This forced the remaining humans to abandon the Earth at Godzilla's mercy.
- While it's arguable that humanity needed to be dethroned as the dominant species of the Earth, that doesn't justify Godzilla's indiscriminate genocide over all the kaiju, including Mothra (who was peaceful by nature), and his environmental shifting over the Earth's biosphere, forever changing the planet's ecosystem into a bizarrely dangerous and unrecognizable habitat.
GODZILLA: Planet of the Monsters[]
- After waking up and seeing that the United Earth's forces killed Godzilla Filius, his son-figure, he obliterates them all in seconds.
GODZILLA: City on the Edge of Battle[]
- Upon sensing the activation of Mechagodzilla City, he assaults it by firing his atomic breath at it, but then resumes his threatening approach when he realizes a ranged attack doesn't work against it.
- During his approach, he attempts to destroy three Vultures piloted by Haruo, Yuko Tani and Rilu-elu Belu-be for interfering his path.
- He also flanks the channel leading to Mechagodzilla City by swinging his tail to destroy several tower-like structures.
- He indirectly inspires Mulu-elu Galu-gu to help Mechagodzilla into assimilating the entirety of the Earth and its remaining lifeforms infected with pure nanometal.
- After waking up, he roars out of pure rage that he doesn't show restraint to destroy Mechagodzilla City for good, and leaves no trace of his robotic counterpart behind.
GODZILLA: The Planet Eater[]
- He indirectly inspires Metphies and the remaining humans to summon Ghidorah to this dimension to destroy the Earth.
- He kills Haruo and a comatose Yuko while the former was piloting the last Vulture directly at him, thus destroying the last remnant of humanity's past and leaving Haruo's eventual kids without a father. Although to be fair, Haruo wanted to kill himself in order to prevent humanity's biggest flaws and Ghidorah from returning.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- The main reason why he can't be qualified as NPE or PE is because he suffers from a handful of characterization or personality and his reason behind rampaging and motivating are never explained, thus making him a Generic Doomsday Villain.
- He has some care for Godzilla Filius, as shown when he avenges Filius' death by obliterating all of the United Earth's forces.
- He is somewhat honorable, as he spares the Houtua since they never bothered him at all.
Trivia[]
- He and Ghidorah are the only villains from the GODZILLA anime trilogy to be qualified as Inconsistently Heinous villains.
- He is the third incarnation of Godzilla to be considered Inconsistently Heinous, after his original counterpart and Shin Godzilla.
- He one of has the highest kill count out of any Godzilla incarnation, taking his account for nearly wiping all of humanity out only surpassed by Godzilla in Hell Incarnation who blown up the Earth in his fight against SpaceGodzilla.
