Glenn Quagmire, born Glenn Quagglechek, is a major character in Family Guy. He is a major character from Season 1 to Season 7, an anti-hero/anti-villain from Season 8 to Season 9, and a major character again from Season 10 onwards. He is one of the best friends of Peter Griffin who is often characterized primarily by his extreme sexual deviancy.

He is voiced by series creator Seth MacFarlane, who also voices Peter Griffin, Carter Pewterschmidt (along with his Emperor counterpart), Darth Stewie and Adolf Hitler in the same series, as well as Stan Smith and Roger Smith in American Dad!.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • He has committed practically every sex crime there is, which has more than enough evidence of happening, despite usually happening offscreen:
    • He raped Marge Simpson before later going on to kill her and the rest of the family when Homer discovered them having sex.
    • He likely intended to have sex with a teenage girl tied up in the bathroom.
    • He has attempted to have sex with Peter Griffin's wife, Lois, and even their daughter, Meg.
    • He traffics Asian women and plans to have sex with them.
    • He has a woman tied-up in his basement to starve.
    • While he gave away his daughter with her adoptive family, he at the end planned to have sex with her when she got older.
    • He is a necrophile, such as when he had sex with Loretta's corpse and then his girlfriend Stephanie, evidenced being stripped to her bra and underwear.
    • He had sex with Kira, an underage teenager. This act nearly got himself sent to prison, where he would have likely been killed, if his mother did not sleep with the judge in order to revoke his sentence.
      • Although to be fair, Kira lied to him about her true age, so maybe if Quagmire had known that Kira was a minor, he would have kicked her out of his house. Nevertheless, he did send photos he took of her once he learned she was underage, which makes him a child pornographer.
        • Apparently, he's also previously been shown to have interest in teenagers before, so he might not have cared either way.
  • He made a nasty joke of his friend Joe and Bonnie’s newborn daughter being 18 already.
  • He had sex with one of his best friends, Cleveland's wife, Loretta. This is the reason why Cleveland's marriage with Loretta fell apart and that's how Cleveland and his son temporarily moved away to Virginia until season 12.
  • He is often a hypocrite, as shown when he ranted Brian Griffin for the misdeeds he committed in the past, while having to actually do things much worse than him. He also despises his sister’s abusive boyfriend Jeff, despite him treating women just as bad as Jeff does.
  • In "Quagmire's Dad", Brian unknowingly sleeps with Ida. Although Brian’s own reaction to finding out who he was with is pretty bad, Quagmire’s is worse. When he finds out, Quagmire barges into the Griffin home and ruthlessly beats Brian throughout the house even though Brian had no idea Ida was Quagmire's mother.
    • In a later episode titled “Bri-Da”, When Ida gets back together with Brian, Quagmire reacts with disdain, given his unfettered hatred for the Griffin family dog. His enmity for Brian leads him to demand that Ida choose between her relationship with Brian and him. While Ida does choose her son, Quagmire is still terrible for forcing his mother to forgo her own happiness and for breaking up their relationship.
  • He ran against Brian in "Adam West High", in which he tried to ruin and interfere Brian in a debate, culminating with them hanging on a cliff, while on the bus.
  • He did not mourn the loss of Brian by watching a video on his phone in "Life of Brian", as a sign of disrespect at Brian's funeral.
  • He tricked Joe into letting him have sex with his wife by lying that he is a virgin.
  • In “Brian’s a Bad Father”, during a hunting trip, Peter intentionally shoots Quagmire in the arm. Fed up with Peter’s stupidity, Quagmire severs ties and forces Joe to choose sides in their friendship. Eventually, Peter decides that the only way for them to mend their relationship is for Quagmire to shoot him in the arm - which Quagmire is all too eager to do. When Peter balks, Joe does it instead. And while Peter argues he should shoot Joe now, Quagmire shoots Peter in the head (though Peter shot Quagmire on purpose and it’s hard to feel sorry for Peter due to how horrible of a person he is).
  • He listens to screaming women on his "White Noise Machine" to calm him down, showing he is indeed sadistic.
  • He caused 9/11 by serving a tennis ball into the first plane to hit the Twin Towers by accident. It is implied that his next serve hit the second plane.
  • In “Screams of Silence: The Story of Brenda Q”, After recovering from an asphyxiation injury, Quagmire gets closer with his sister Brenda - and her boyfriend Jeff. It quickly becomes clear that Jeff is abusive. To that end, Quagmire and the guys invite Jeff on a “nighttime hunting trip” and plan to kill him. Although Jeff manages to briefly outmaneuver them, and attempts to choke Quagmire to death, Quagmire’s tolerance for choking allows him to slip away and run Jeff down with a car. Later, Brenda is distraught when told that Jeff “left her.” While Jeff deserved to die, Quagmire regularly treats women just as bad as Jeff.
  • In “I Take Thee Quagmire”, When he gets married to a maid named Joan, he seemingly changes his entire personality. However, after the old him resurfaces, he quickly comes to regret married life. When he floats the idea of a divorce to Joan, she reacts with threats of violence. Rather than pursue things the legal way, Peter suggests an alternative - faking his own death, to which he agrees to.
  • In “Burning Down the Bayit”, After Quagmire and Peter decide to help Mort drum up business for his pharmacy, things quickly go wrong. Quagmire’s horniness distracts him, losing the pharmacy’s banner which causes a bus accident, killing everyone on board. As if mass manslaughter weren’t enough, the duo decides to help Mort recoup his losses by burning the pharmacy down so he can collect on the insurance.
  • He is rarely punished for his crimes, making him a Karma Houdini.
  • While Peter, Bertram and others are more heinous, Glenn stands out for his pedophilia and lower resources.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • As is custom with the rest of the characters in show, practically all of his perverted crimes are played for black comedy.
  • Outside of his bad tendencies, he's genuinely an affable and polite person for the most part who volunteers to help poor people and served in his country's navy out of duty.
    • He also regularly participates in book club meetings.
  • While not excusing any of his actions, he has a legitimately tragic and sympathetic backstory as he had an abnormal life where he was born to an overly sexual mother and grew up with her as his only influence. He then frequently got bullied and outcasted as a child, particularly by a bigger female bully in high school. Later on, he would eventually end up losing his love, Cheryl Tiegs, which is usually treated with sympathy when shown in flashbacks.
    • While one could argue that his actions are far too disgusting and petty to make his tragedy hold up, what separates him from Peter is that his actions mainly correlate to his past as being raised the way he did clearly shaped him into becoming who he is.
      • Additionally, most of his sexual crimes are committed to fill up for the hole in his heart left by Cheryl.
    • Even in the present, Quagmire doesn't have a perfect life as he struggles with loneliness, accepting his father (now mother)'s sex change, has a deaf brother and a sister who regularly gets abused by her boyfriend.
  • He is On & Off, as he occasionally performs heroic actions while also showing remorse for his lifestyle on occasions.
  • He cares for multiple individuals.
    • His father, Dan (later Ida), who he has always respected and admired as an honorable navy. While he was not supportive of their sex change at first, he later becomes more accepting of her.
    • His mother, Chrystal, who despite being a whore he eventually comes to respect.
    • His sister, Brenda, giving her a speech to cut things off with her abusive boyfriend and killing the abuser later on.
    • His brother, Gary, who while never seen, it is clear he cares about him and defends him when he thinks Brian insulted him for being deaf.
    • His best friends like Peter, Joe and Cleveland, regularly hanging out with them and/or helping them in their tasks.
    • His 5-year-old niece, Abby, who he takes Christmas shopping and gets infuriated when he thinks he insulted her for having cancer.
    • Cats in general as he is often seen being nice to his pets. He also opened a cat cafe so cats in town could have a place to go.
    • Despite hating Brian, Glenn took pity on him and helped him fix his teeth while developing a mutual tolerance towards him.
    • He helps Chris and Meg occasionally when they come to him for advice.
    • In general, he is one of the few characters who is nice to Meg. Ironically despite being a complete deadbeat dad who doesn’t even know most of his kids exist, he is arguably more of a father figure to Meg than Peter. There are several instances where Quagmire helps Meg just because he's his friend’s daughter and expecting nothing in return. Such examples include Getting her a job at the airport when she needed money and helping her beat her bully Mike.
    • He forms an attachment with Stewie after they go to Paris together when Stewie ended up getting accidentally boarded there.
    • His illegitimate baby daughter, Anna, who he eventually begins to love and decides to leave her to be raised by a normal family.
    • His other teenage illegitimate daughter, Courtney, whom he forms a bond with.
  • Although most instances are lust and/or obsession, he is shown to be capable of being genuinely in love on some occasions.
    • He was always in love with Cheryl Tiegs and regretted pushing her a way with his attitude.
    • He also later genuinely falls in love with a girl who shows herself to be just as perverted as him (until she becomes too much for him).
    • He has a crush on Lois in a non-perverted way. While he has occasionally made perverted moves at her, as Peter notes, this is just him being himself. He never goes beyond stalking around her and when his crush on Lois is out in the open, he feels guilt and moves away. Later on, he helps her at her high school reunion and doesn't make any move on her (despite her goading leading him on) because he knows it is wrong to be with his best friend's wife.
  • He has standards against suicide, as he was appalled when Peter initially killed himself to get out watching his ventriloquist act. At a later point, Quagmire's unnerved when learning he's been telling certain teenagers to kill themselves under the belief that he's the Slenderman and calls him out for it.
