The Giant Magnet is the final antagonist of Disney's 1987 animated film The Brave Little Toaster, which is based on the 1986 novel of the same name by the late Thomas M. Disch. It is an orange junkyard magnet attached to the T.C. (Tower Crane).
While having no voice, the sound effects for it were provided by David John West.
Its Evil Ranking[]
What Makes It Heinous?[]
- It killed countless cars that it was aware were sentient.
- It made multiple attempts to kill Toaster and his friends.
- During its final attempt, it also greatly endangered the life of their owner, Rob, showing that it is perfectly fine with hurting a human if it means doing its job.
- It faces no punishment for its crimes.
- While it does have more resources than Mack McCro (the main antagonist of The Brave Little Toaster to the Rescue making it less heinous than the latter, the second installment in the franchise), this is not a prevention, as it was aware that the cars it was killing were sentient, whereas Mack attempted to ship animals that did not seem to know were sentient, as he stated that he did not think that they had feelings. Another contrast to him is that the Giant Magnet does not suffer from Fridge Horror, and even then, it would stand out from Mack due to its high kill count.
What Makes It Inconsistent?[]
- It has little to no clear personality or characterization, making it insufficiently characterized to be PE or NPE making it an "Generic Doomsday Villain".
- It is just doing the job it was designed for thus making it a villain by proxy.
Trivia[]
- It's the only character from The Brave Little Toaster to be Inconsistently Heinous.
