~ Hux to Finn, revealing he is still evil and only helped the Resistance to defeat his rival Kylo Ren. |
General Armitage Hux is a major antagonist in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. He is a high-ranking military leader of the First Order, acting as the supreme commander of the organization's military and as the commander of Starkiller Base before its destruction. He is bent on having the First Order conquer the galaxy and defeat the Resistance.
Along with Kylo Ren, Hux is one of Supreme Leader Snoke's most trusted minions, though he secretly plans to take control of the First Order. However, when Ren kills Snoke and usurps his title, Hux is forced to work with his most hated rival and under the authority of Allegiant General Pryde, eventually leading him to betray the First Order and becoming an informant of the Resistance solely to ensure Ren's defeat.
He was portrayed by Domhnall Gleeson.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- With the help from Captain Phasma, he poisoned his own father, Brendol Hux, to get rid of him and make him not to stay at his way to power. Also, while Brendol was himself a ruthless mass murderer, who kidnapped multiple children to raise them as Stormtroopers, and absolutely deserved this, Hux didn't do this out of any standards.
- He lied to the members of the First Order troops about the death of his father and tricked them by positioning himself on the place of his father and making him their leader.
- Throughout his military campaign, he desired for power and murdered billions of people who had nothing to do with his past.
- He and the First Order kidnapped thousands of children to train them as Stormtroopers.
- He started the manhunt on Poe Dameron, labeling him as a criminal in the First Order.
- He helped Terex, an intergalactic agent of the First Order, to hunt Poe across the galaxy, ignoring Terex's past as a criminal.
- In Star Wars: Age of Resistance, while stranded on a planet, he fooled Bylsma, an old Alderaan guard who had been isolated with his pet Norwoods ever since the destruction of Alderaan, by telling him about the end of the war and presenting himself and Kylo as allies, to convince him to let him use his communicator.
- When the First Order arrived, all the pet Norwoods were killed by the troops and Hux told Phasma to take Bylsma's communications array and not to kill him because he wanted use his planet as target practice for Starkiller Base.
- He murdered Admiral Brooks, an officer of the First Order, who was the friend of his father, for mocking his illegitimacy.
- He helped Kylo Ren hunt the droid BB-8 and put the bounty on his head.
- When Poe was freed by Finn and tried to escape the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Finalizer, Hux ordered the stormtroopers to fire the ventral cannons and kill him.
- He helped Snoke design Starkiller Base, a superweapon capable of destroying an entire star system.
- He helped Snoke and Kylo hunt Luke Skywalker across the galaxy, labeling him as an enemy of the First Order.
- Under the orders of Snoke, he commanded Starkiller Base to fire the phantom energy beam into the Hosnian system and the New Republic, killing trillions, and unlike the destruction of Alderaan, where the people who were killed weren't focused on too much, the people Hux killed were focused on, as they are shown screaming while the ray hit.
- This makes him have the highest kill count in all of Star Wars, only rivaled by Snoke, Palpatine and Vitiate.
- It also had an impact on Kazuda Xiono, who lived on Hosian Prime.
- While he saved Kylo on Ilum when the planet was about to explode, he did it only because Snoke ordered him and not because he grew fond of Ren.
- He and his army tried to destroy the Resistance main base at D'Qar.
- He secretly plotted to overthrow and usurp Snoke to become Supreme Leader.
- He ordered Commander Prye to destroy the Colossus when one of the Resistance spies Kazuda Xiono has snuck abored the Titan to steal an trans-binary deflector to keep the Colossus residents safe from its radiation.
- He tried to destroy the Resistance fleet, even mocking Poe about it, telling him that there will be no terms nor surrender.
- He tried to kill Kylo when he was unconscious after the battle with Snoke.
- In Star Wars: Allegiance, he ordered the destruction of the planet of Tah'Nuhna and the wiping out of its civilization after finding out that they helped the Resistance.
- While he did help the Resistance by giving them the information about Emperor Palpatine's return and saved Finn, Poe and Chewbacca, this was purely out of pragmatic and selfish reasons because he hated Kylo Ren and wanted him to lose.
- He also wanted to overthrow Kylo to take the Supreme Leader title for himself then to take over the galaxy for himself.
- Despite the high heinous standards, he easily passes since he has the highest kill count of any villain in the franchise due to his destruction of the Hosnian System, giving him a higher kill count than even Palpatine himself.
- He overall has no true redeeming qualities.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Starting in The Last Jedi, he is heavily played for laughs and is used as a comic relief not meant to be taken very seriously, such as when Poe prank called him while he was attacking the Resistance fleet and being a punching bag for Starkiller Base leaders like Snoke and Kylo Ren for example, which continues in The Rise of Skywalker, where he's shot by Finn in the leg instead of the arm as he requested, and then unceremoniously killed by Allegiant General Pryde.
- He has a tragic backstory of being an innocent child that was abused by his father both physically and psychologically, which broke him and while this doesn't justify his atrocities, it is played for sympathy in the book and comic it's brought up in.
Trivia[]
- General Hux is currently the only Inconsistently Heinous in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, as well as the only Inconsistently Heinous that is not a Force user.
