ARISE, my Beasty Building! ARISE!!
~ Flippy when learning the Living Spray Factory was coming to life.
Destroy all do-gooders!!
~ Flippy's main goal and catchphrase.
Do you remember Flippy, the fish you gave me for my birthday, that ate way too many brain dots and got super smart with psychokinetic powers and robbed all those pet stores for their plastic fish tank treasure chests because he thought it was real money and ended up freezin' to death in a fishbowl high up on the mountain before you got to roll around with him and crush him because you like to roll around with dead fish?
~ Chief revealing to Dog Man and the audience what happened to Flippy before the main events of the film.

Flippy is the main antagonist of DreamWorks Animation's 48th full-length animated feature film Dog Man, based off of Dav Pilkey's book series of the same name.

He is a deranged butterfly fish who had a rough childhood before ending up at a pet store. After accidentally being fed "Supa Brain Dots", Flippy became a robber, but soon froze to death on a mountain. Later, he would have all of his bones be replaced with robotic parts and come back to life thanks to Living Spray, now with the new intention of destroying all do-gooders, a directive programmed by Petey the Cat.

He is voiced by Ricky Gervais in his normal voice and by Karen Foster in his robotic voice.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

In General[]

  • His main goal throughout the film is to destroy all do-gooders on the planet, making him possibly the most lethal villain in the Dog Man franchise, having his sights on billions of innocent people.

Dog Man[]

  • In the past, Flippy was unintentionally fed Supa Brain Dots, a brain medication that when overdosed gives the consumer psychokinetic powers and "supa" anger. With these new powers, he went on a crime spree, robbing the pet store from all its money and planning to do the same with many other stores in Ohkay City.
  • After being brought back to life, he brought the newly-sentient Living Spray Factory to his will, leaving all civilians in Ohkay City to be terrified of it due to its immense size.
  • He attempted to kidnap Dog Man before seeing Li'l Petey, who he instantly kidnapped from there, especially after seeing how good he was through a heroic scale that was programmed within him.
  • He sent the Living Spray Factory to destroy the majority of the city.
  • With Li'l Petey in his "hands", he attempted to drop the child into a large amount of traffic that would run him over.
  • After learning that Dog Man and Petey were working together to stop him using the Mecha-Mail Man 2000, he sent the Living Spray Factory to destroy them.
  • After the Living Spray Factory was defeated by Dog Man and Petey, it sprayed all the Living Spray within throughout the city, creating more and more Beasty Buildings that Flippy continued to take control over.
    • With the Beasty Buildings in control, Flippy ordered them to destroy more of the city, leading Chief to tell everyone to evacuate it.
    • Also it was confirmed he destroyed half the city in his rampage, which isn’t Fridge Horror as they literally say half the city was destroyed.
  • After Li'l Petey, within 80-HD, destroyed and defeated almost all of the the remaining Beasty Buildings, Flippy used his telekinetic powers to send Li'l Petey flying.
  • After the impact, Flippy came down to continue to try and murder what he assumed was Li'l Petey into a very, very lethal death.
    • He originally planned to drown him in tar before realizing it was too slow, as well as explode him with missiles, before finding a volcano and realizing that he should drop Li'l Petey into the volcano after being elevated to around 500 feet.
  • While he stopped being evil and let himself be arrested, he never made up for his actions.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He has somewhat of a tragic past, with him being bullied for his large face, and while it isn't played out for long or justified any of his actions, it shows him in a sympathetic light.
  • Like the above point, he has genuine insecurities over himself because he never had a friend in the world all because he looked fat, so he wished to destroy because he had no one.
  • He has moral agency issues due to Petey programming him to "destroy all do-gooders." Despite this, it’s not the only thing he is capable of doing and he was already quite evil before that because of his actions from Dog Man Unleashed being canon to the movie, and the fact he was able to somewhat redeem himself, so it’s still a minor prevention.
  • He is often played for laughs. Certain examples include being frustrated with the way the buildings speak or his catchphrase being robotic sounding whenever the situation calls for it and being unable to tell time when he captured Li'l Petey.
  • Despite his "Destroy all do-gooders" goal, he was affable to Li’l Petey who was labeled a do-gooder and talked with him. He opened up to Li’l Petey and was willing to read his comic.
  • After the Li'l Petey gives him a hand-made comic book, he felt remorse for some, if not all of his actions. Thanks to the kitten's support, he redeemed himself and willingly accepted his arrest by Chief.
