~ Scott to Fang. |
Fang is a supporting antagonist in the Canadian animated franchise Total Drama, serving as a supporting antagonist in Total Drama: Revenge of the Island and Total Drama All-Stars. He is a mutated great white shark who lurks the waters of Camp Wawanakwa, where Chris McLean hosts Total Drama. During the fourth season, Fang comes across the show's contestants and takes a disliking for Scott, who steals one of his teeth.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
In General[]
- While most of Fang's villainy relies on the "Kill the Heroes" shtick, his methods to try to inflict death on the contestants even if unprovoked are too extreme to be dismissed as standard, as he outright tries to devour them alive (which is by itself a horrible way to die), not to mention his brutal attacks and effects on Scott.
- Regardless how high the show's Heinous Standards are, Fang has definitely less resources than Chris McLean, Chef Hatchet and Scarlett, being a mutant shark with only his brawn and limited sapient intelligence as his resources, which he uses to the maximum. Plus, whereas a villain's karma happens by accident most of the time, Fang was directly responsible for Scott's.
- He appears to hurt the contestants solely out of sadism as opposed to hunger as there are multiple occasions of him choosing to grievously harm Scott instead of eating him like a normal shark would. This proves he has his own moral agency and knows what he’s doing is wrong.
Total Drama: Revenge of the Island[]
- Surprises Scott in the confessional during the opening sequence with the intent to attack him even though Scott has done nothing to him.
- Attempts to devour Cameron, Mike, Zoey, Jo, Brick McArthur, Anne Maria, Dawn, Scott, Lightning, B, Dakota Milton and Sam when Chris briefly dunks them with their seats into Lake Wawanakwa.
- During one of the dunks, Fang takes Scott off his seat and nearly devours him, but Scott barely survives by breaking free of his mouth, getting one of his fangs stuck on his rear. This prompts Fang to hate Scott, but his vendetta against him is technically unjustified given how Scott wouldn't have gotten his fang if Fang hadn't tried to eat him first.
- Bites part of Cameron's seat, nearly devouring him.
- Pops out from a cemetery coffin during the middle of the night challenge to surprise Scott as he tried to hide the souvenir of his team the Toxic Rats, chasing him until he trips on a tomb.
- Pulls Brick's oxygen hose and plays with it like a paddle ball during the underwater challenge, not only sabotaging the Mutant Maggots but also putting Brick's life at risk.
- Attempts to attack Cameron, Anne Maria and Mike as they water sky during the challenge, only failing thanks to Mike's alter Vito punching him.
- Corners Dakota at a buoy despite her not provoking him and keeps circling the buoy even by the end of the episode, trapping her there until she was somehow retrieved.
- Lures Scott into a booby trap with a pizza to trap Scott for himself, failing thanks to Scott cleverly outsmarting him.
- Attempts to devour Scott as he, Mike and Cameron push the raft where Zoey and Dakota are standing during the treasure challenge, even boarding the raft to attack Scott and possibly the girls if they tried to save him, leading Dakota to punch him with her newly acquired mutant abilities.
- Supervises that Jo and Lightning stay in the cell where Chef Hatched locks them in during the graffiti/go-karts challenge, biting Lightning's rear when Jo pushes him in his direction as they escape.
- He does let Lightning go so he can get back at Jo for betraying him and reach the last graffiti stop, even swirling Jo's go-kart as they pass near her in direction to the totem spot, but only because Lightning promises to take him to Scott, making Fang's decision to help him pragmatic.
- Chases Scott for no apparent reason before the Final Five challenge takes place.
- Goes to Camp Wawanakwa's junkyard to try to devour Scott, failing because he gets his foot tangled in the rope of Jo's aircraft as she takes off.
- Attempts to bite Scott when he accidentally approaches him while trying to stop Heather from escaping aboard Chris' blimp with the million dollars.
- Delights himself at Scott landing on him after he gets his wings burned and chases after him once they safely land in the water due to Cameron neutralizing Jo's aircraft with a hidden bomb.
- Stalks Scott during the Final Four challenge, getting on his way before he can calmy cross the finish line, before falling into one of Commando Zoey's booby traps.
- Tags along with Scott as he gets eliminated by accompanying him in the Hurl of Shame, despite retrieving his missing tooth from him seconds before, likely being allowed to do so as Chris wanted revenge against Scott for accidentally flinging him into the communal bathroom early on in the morning.
- As later shown in the finale, after being hurled together, Fang mauls Scott badly enough (with Chris referring to Scott as what remains of him) until he seemingly paralyzes him to the point a comatose Scott is placed in the Trauma Chair to survive his injuries, unable to show any other emotions other than indicating "Yes" or "No". Even though Scott deserved some karma after all his devious actions throughout the season, this is considered one of the harshest karmas a Total Drama villain has ever faced, and while Scott recovers later on, it doesn't change the fact that Fang was brutally petty in his vendetta.
- Shows enjoyment at the prospect of attacking the eliminated contestants during the finale if they don't root or cheer for the finalists, even still growling at Scott with the intent to keep attacking him despite his comatose state.
Total Drama All-Stars[]
- Chases after Scott to eat him while Sam grabs from his tail in the opening sequence.
- Sadistically greets a recovered Scott, Zoey and Mike when they return to Camp Wawanakwa for the first All-Stars season, expecting them to jump into Lake Wawanakwa to attack them along with his fellow normal sharks, scaring them due to their past history with him.
- Overall, Scott shows himself throughout the season to have developed a phobia towards sharks thanks to Fang's constant attacks, evidently being left with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) due to the fourth season's events.
- Attempts to eat Lightning as he jumps out of the cliff, only for Lightning to land on him with his fists instead.
- Corners Gwen with his fellow sharks with the likely intent of eating her and Mike, the latter who lands onf Fang's head, before Zoey throws stones to the sharks to distract them.
- Savagely bites the Drama Machine alongside his fellow sharks once it falls off the cliff, causing the robot to explode and freeing Alejandro Burromuerto. However, though freeing Alejandro helped him a lot, Fang had no idea that the Drama Machine contained a living human being, making it less as him doing something heroic and more to him attacking a sentient machine.
- Participates in the wrestling challenge by engaging with Scott in a boxing fight, taking advantage of him being shocked at fighting him to give Scott a bad beating because he can. He even rolls his eyes when Courtney calls him out for messing with Scott.
- Let's Cameron, Zoey and Duncan to use him as their raft's motor during the regatta challenge as long as they use Scott as his human bait, trying to devour him while providing speed to the raft.
- Bites Scott down after pushing the raft for a while due to Cameron losing the necessary strength to hold Scott any longer. He then proceeds to smell Cameron and decline to eat him once Scott pushes him off the raft out of spite just because he considers Cameron a snack and not a meal.
- Gets the McLean Diamond inside his teeth while waiting at the abandoned pirate ship to complicate things for Scott during the Final Four challenge.
- Throws Scott off the ship's mast into the deck, causing him to open a hole, and proceeds to drop a pirate chest, cannonballs and an anvil to crush him out of sadism.
- Uses Scott as his own punching bag when Mike's alter Mal, who "offered" to help him, catches him by his feet with a booby trap.
- Lurks the Moaps of Doom's swamp section waters during the finale, suddenly eating a mutated fly during the challenge's presentation despite the fly just sitting on the water to turn off its flaming rear.
- Attempts to attack Zoey just in time as Mike recovers control from Mal, prompting Mike to punch him hard enough to break his tooth again, which he then gives to Alejandro, after which Fang targets Alejandro despite being clearly aware that Alejandro didn't steal his tooth from him.
- Chases after Heather and Alejandro once Camp Wawanakwa sinks just for no apparent reasons, still doing so in the exclusive clip accompanying the episode.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Even if some of his actions are treated seriously in-universe, they are never taken seriously to the audience like many characters and always played for laughs due to his over-the-top revenge plots and human-like behavior, which makes sense considering the comedic nature of the show.
- Does seem to get along with his fellow unmutated sharks at Lake Wawanakwa.
Trivia[]
- It's theorized by some that maybe Fang devoured Alejandro Burromuerto and Heather after the finale of Total Drama All-Stars due to how they have never been seen since then due to no more seasons with the original cast members being produced. If this were confirmed, it would make Fang even worse.
- However Terry McGurrin confirmed no contestant has died in the show, proving this theory false.
