“ | The true difference between human and an animal is nothing less than whether or not they desire to go to Heaven after they die. People should live their lives in such a manner they'll be let into Heaven. For that is... the beauty inherent in the nature of humankind. | „ |
~ Enrico Pucci on Heaven |
“ | 31, 37, 41, 43, 47. Count the prime numbers. Nothing can divide the prime numbers. The reason why people fail... Is due to the feeling of "shame". They think they could have done things differently in the past, or they wonder why they did things that they did. Because of their regrets they slowly become weak, and they fail. | „ |
~ Pucci calming himself. |
“ | The Joestar Bloodline, as to be expected, they drew strength from their pride and courage, and came together to conquer their fate. However, that connection through blood is also their weakness. Jotaro Kujo, your greatest weakness is your daughter. | „ |

Enrico Pucci, also known as Father Pucci, is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Enya Geil) of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure franchise, being the main antagonist of Part VI: Stone Ocean.
He is a priest who was a loyal and devoted follower of DIO before his death, who then decided to attain "Heaven" and eliminate the Joestars as per DIO's wishes. In the story, Pucci wields three Stands, those being Whitesnake, C-Moon, and Made in Heaven. He is also the arch-enemy of Jolyne Cujoh, Weather Report, and Emporio Alniño.
He is voiced by Tomokazu Seki in the anime. In the English dub, he is voiced by Yong Yea.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
In General[]
- He is extremely delusional and hypocritical. He believes everything he does is on god's will and thinks everyone opposing his goals insignificant. Despite believing his goal would benefit entire humanity, he still caused the death of lots of innocent people with C-Moon and Made in Heaven without any remorse. And while he demands everyone to accept their fate, he cannot accept his own fate of failing to kill Emporio and chooses to stop accelerating time for the sake of it.
- Though he has a few comedic moments, such as interrupting Miraschon's question just to show off his technique of eating cherries, using a disc from Whitesnake to play "Messiah" on Guccio's carcass as though it were a CD player, or complaining about the raining frogs from Weather Report's stand getting on his $800 pants, all these moments are too brief to be detracting, and he is still taken seriously in-universe.
- What's more, as the plot moves on, he loses all his (already few) laughably evil presence in later arcs, and is taken dead seriously both in-universe to the audience.
- He is overall one of the most serious villains in the franchise, being less laughable than DIO and several other main antagonists, making him a game changer.
- He is a terrible boss to most of his henchmen, such as using Guccio’s carcass like a CD player, killing Johngalli A. when he was no longer useful, emotionally abusing Thunder McQueen just so he'd harm himself and his stand would transfer the pain to Ermes, and leaving Versus for dead (though he deserved it and had already betrayed Pucci).
- Despite the high heinous standards of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, he passes them for having one of the highest confirmed kill counts, plus trying to reset the universe, and partially succeeding. He also stands out for being one of the only two main villains of the series (alongside DIO) to have successfully killed the protagonist of their part as well as nearly killing all of her allies save for Emporio himself, and only due to a crucial mistake Pucci made.
- While Pucci's tragedy and extremism prevents him from being NPE or PE, these preventions don't make him Anti-Villainous, Grey Zoned or On & Off, as his goal of wanting everyone to know of their true fates would ultimately destroy the very concept of free will, causing far more harm than good. Just as Weather Report points out, "The kind of evil that doesn't realize that it's evil is the worst one there is".
Background[]
- He hired the private detective to break up Weather Report and Perla, who were siblings, which led to Weather being lynched and Perla committing suicide to join him. Despite him having no knowledge about the real nature of the detective as well as it being accidental and him being immensely regretful for Perla's death, he had no remorse for the near-murder of his own twin, despite him becoming a priest solely because he was upset at the universe for his twin's supposed death and trying to make sense of it.
- After Weather found out he hired the detective and fought him, Pucci used Whitesnake to remove his memories and had him thrown into the Green Dolphin Street Prison, leading to Weather being an amnesiac prisoner for most of his life.
- Joined DIO after defeating Weather and aided him in many of his crimes before DIO was killed at the hands of Jotaro Kujo.
- He joined the Green Dolphin Street Prison as a priest. Using the cover, he took Stand Discs from numerous convicts as well as killing many of them after extracting the Stands using Whitesnake's acid ability.
- He also killed Emporio's mother in a similar way after stealing her Stand, not caring that she had a baby son.
Stone Ocean[]
- He worked with Johngalli A and the Corrupt Lawyer to frame Jolyne for a murder, which led to her getting sentenced for 15 years. He did this to solely lure Jotaro to the prison, counting on him wanting to free her from wrongful imprisonment so that he could steal Jotaro's memory disc, which had the information regarding DIO's diary, not caring about ruining an innocent woman's life as collateral.
- During Jolyne and Jotaro's battle with Johngalli A. he used Whitesnake to steal his memory and stand disc, rendering Jotaro effectively brain dead. He made sure that Jotaro would waste his time stop in saving his daughter so that Whitesnake could sneak up from behind.
- He then tried to kill Jolyne and Jotaro using his hallucinatory acid as well, only being thwarted due to Jolyne's quick thinking.
- Killed Johngalli A only because he fulfilled his task and had no use for him as well as fearing exposure, despite Johngalli A being loyal to him and DIO.
- Gave several mercenaries (Thunder McQueen, Miraschon, Foo Fighters, and Lang Wrangler) stand discs and sent them to murder Jolyne and the others in order to get the stand disc back.
- Emotionally abused Thunder McQueen in order to have him become suicidal, so that any self harm he inflicts gets transferred to Ermes as a means to kill her.
- Beat up Miraschon simply because she tried to steal his cross necklace.
- Had Jolyne shot by a prison guard who had a memory disc in order to murder her once and for all.
- During Weather Report’s poison dart frog raining, showed no concern when the guard he brainwashed had painfully died from the poison.
- When another prison guard hesitated to let him out due to the dart frogs, Pucci smashed one to blind him and after the prison guard let him out, left him to die from the prison out of spite.
- Tries to shoot down a bird so it wouldn’t take Jotaro’s stand disc back to him, and would have succeeded if not for Jolyne and Weather.
- Gave a stand disc to Sports Maxx, the killer of Ermes' sister, to kill Jolyne and the group, causing Ermes to be out of commission, a woman dying, and Jolyne to be sent to the lower prison ward.
- He threatens to kill Sports Maxx for not knowing where DIO’s bone had disappeared to.
- Gave 3 other prisoners, Guccio, Kenzou, D an G and a prison guard named Viviano stands while they were in the lower prison ward in order to cause a giant fight with Guccio’s stand, in order to have Jolyne killed. This caused over 36 prisoners to be killed by Kenzo via lung drowning, and had them all turned into trees in order to form the Green Baby.
- Murdered Foo Fighters and brutally maimed Anasui, attempting to destroy Jotaro’s memory disc in order get to The Green Baby and fuse with it by using DIO's bone. He then forces Jolyne to choose between letting Pucci escape to save Jotaro’s disc or kill Pucci and abandon Jotaro’s life.
- After fusing with the Green Baby, travels out to go to Kennedy Space Center in order to release his plan of Heaven. By doing so, he corrupted the Joestar Bloodline due to the fact that DIO's bone was actually from Jonathan Joestar's body, causing him and Weather Report to receive the Joestar birthmark.
- He deserts Green Dolphin Street Prison after seeing no further use for it.
- He awakens dead baby chicks within a woman’s grocery eggs for no apparent reason (though this was likely unintentional, as he wasn't thinking straight at the time due to having just fused with the Green Baby).
- He also seemingly has a Pet the Dog moment where he helps the old lady up, but again, he likely wasn't thinking straight.
- Manipulated and took in DIO's sons (Ungalo, Rikiel, and Donatello) to order them to kill the Joestar group, their own family. This caused Ungalo release Bohemian Rhapsody, which caused mass havoc across the world, as well as Rikiel bringing down Emporio's helicopter and nearly killing all of them.
- Brutally ripped off both of Weather Report's legs and impaled him, completely destroying any amount of care he had for him.
- Used Donatello as a human shield in order to get him caught and for him to get away, which also subverts any care he had for Donatello (or any of DIO’s sons).
- When at Kennedy Space Center, released C-Moon, which caused the large entire area to mess with gravity, sending people, cars, trees, and rubble to be sent flying around, which caused a massive amount of deaths, destruction, and injury, causing the deaths of around two thousand people and countless more injured.
- Almost killed Jolyne by punching her chest to invert her heart with C-Moon, although she saved herself by turning her inverted heart into a Möbius Strip with her stand.
- When unlocking Made in Heaven and it’s ability of time acceleration, he caused mass havoc all over the world, including a freezer boy getting frozen to death, a woman getting hit by a speeding car, and massive amounts of car crashes which caused others' deaths.
- Quickly murdered Anasui by using Stone Free to impale him.
- Threw knives at Jolyne before Jotaro used time stop in order for him to waste the time stop to save Jolyne. This caused Jotaro to scream in utter despair from PTSD since DIO did the same to him back in Stardust Crusaders, thus destroying any chance that the heroes had at killing Pucci.
- Mocked Jotaro by stating that his greatest weakness is his own daughter before killing him.
- Murdered Jotaro and Ermes in quick succession by slicing Ermes’s arms off and cutting Jotaro’s face in half in front of Jolyne and Emporio, killing off all of Jolyne’s friends and father in a quick succession, before taunting Emporio about his mother’s death and attempting to kill him.
- When Jolyne stayed behind to give Emporio time to flee, he brutally killed her, effectively ending the Joestar bloodline in a way.
- Using the acceleration to completely reset the universe, planning on using the reset and make everyone remember their past and acknowledge their future to give them peace and solace, only stopping half way through to Green Dolphin Prison in order to kill Emporio for him not to interfere.
- Once he arrives to the new universe, he knocks out the reincarnated variants of Jotaro and Jolyne out of spite, and he even knocks out a few prison guards for merely passing by.
- Taunts Emporio about the deaths of his friends before chasing him through the prison and attempting to kill him one last time to cut off all loose ends, and also out of sadism.
- While he had a slow and brutal demise at the hands of Emporio and Weather Report which is often considered the most brutal death in the franchise, this doesn't make him a scapegoat, as he deserved it for the tragedies he had caused.
- Despite his death and the timeline being reverted, it holds weight as everyone who died during the timeline reset, including Jolyne, Jotaro, Ermes, Anasui, and Weather Report, will be reborn as technically different people. Additionally, Emporio will be traumatized by the event as he is the only person to know what happened, with him breaking down in tears when he sees his friends' reincarnated versions.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He has a genuinely tragic backstory that makes him too sympathetic to be NPE. His brother was swapped with a stillborn baby by Mrs. Bluemarine, leading to Pucci joining priesthood to make sense of the universe while believing his brother to be dead. After Mrs. Bluemarine confessed that she stole him from the crib and he realized his brother was dating Perla, their sister, without their knowledge, he attempted to break them up for no other reason than to prevent them from accidentally committing incest. The detective whom he hired was a secret member of the Ku Klux Klan who used the opportunity to lynch Weather and drive Perla to despair, leading to her committing suicide after she thought Weather was dead. This made Pucci extremely remorseful to the point that Pucci bemoaned that why it wasn't him who died that day. He then joined DIO after the tragedy, still feeling guilt for the mishaps he caused.
- He is a well-intentioned extremist. While DIO wanted to achieve Heaven in order to rule the world, Pucci genuinely wants the happiness of humanity with Heaven so that they never feel distraught about their fate. He even accepted Emporio's justifiable hatred for him and wanted to convince him to put off killing him after he finished his goals.
- Despite eventually subverting his care for his brother and then killing him, his care for others is never subverted:
- He remains remorseful for causing Perla's death and openly bemoaned that it should have been him who died that day, which caused his villainy and him joining DIO.
- He remained loyal to DIO even by the time of his death, painstakingly fulfilling his goals to achieve Heaven and to eliminate the Joestars.
- Despite willing to kill children in order to achieve his goals, he still has some slight but legitimate standards:
- He dislikes Thunder McQueen for his self-pitying attitude and his desire to drag others down in his own misfortune, something he doesn't mince any words berating him.
- He despised Anasui for being a murderer and targeted him the most out of Jolyne's allies.
- He berated Donatello Versus when he targeted three sick children to kill Jolyne and Ermes, straight up asking him if he had any shame.
- While he does try to kill Emporio, this standard is not completely subverted, as Emporio himself is an opposing threat to his goal while Versus is hurting innocent children who have nothing to do with him.
Trivia[]
- Pucci is the only main antagonist in a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part so far to be Inconsistently Heinous.
- Pucci and his brother/archenemy Weather Report are the only two Inconsistently Heinous in Stone Ocean (and subsequently, the original universe).
- Joji Nakata, Pucci's Japanese voice actor in Eyes of Heaven, also voiced Kirei Kotomine from the Fate franchise, another Inconsistently Heinous villain. Interestingly, both are devout Catholic priests who were deeply troubled by their tragic past and thus sought salvation, both met another villain with a blonde hair (DIO/Gilgamesh) who befriended them and corrupted them into villains they are, and both of them become the sworn enemy to the heroes (Jolyne Cujoh/Shirou Emiya) and their father (Jotaro Kujo/Kiritsugu Emiya) from their respective work.
