The RED Engineer is the titular main protagonist of the music video ENGINEERS ARE YOUR FRIENDS, a Team Fortress 2 fansong created by nerdcore artist group Random Encounters. and the fourth entry in their TF2 fansongs series.
Just like in canon, he is one of the mercenearies hired by Mann Co. to defeat the rival team with the exact same members, in this case BLU. Engineer, in his starring song, he is shown to be a affable, yet sadistic mercenary who kills the BLU Team members in specifically brutal ways, which causes his own teammates to be afraid of him.
He is portrayed by Kevin Clark.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- It's heavily implied that, just like his official counterpart, he's a warcriminal who has repeatedly killed the members of the BLU Team to obtain a useless pice of land.
- He is incredibly sadistic over his kills, happily singing about them and apparently smiled at them in the battlefield while playing his blood-stained guitar.
- After the BLU Soldier destroyed his dispenser by launching a rocket at it, he killed him by shooting him in the nutsack.
- While it's possible that this didn't kill him, since he's supposedly still missing them even though he should've revived fine, this is still an incredibly brutal way to try to kill him. Made worse since Engie states that "Now [the BLU Soldier]'s digestin' without his intestines." Meaning that the BLU Soldier is still missing his genitals.
- The animated visuals show him killing two BLU Scouts, the first by stepping on him while giant and the second simply shooting him in the chest.
- While he was original friends with a Demoman, as they went to the bar together and "blow the place up as kids do." He subverted this upon finding out he was actually a BLU Demo, he would later behead him with his wrench.
- He stomped on a Heavy to death and "de-feet-ed" him.
- He created Katrina and her "baby sister" with the sole purpose of killing enemies, with it being stated that Trina's baby sister "never missed no one again."
- He beheaded a BLU Spy with his wrench, just like the BLU Demoman.
- He casually tells his own teammates that he'd be completely fine with killing them brutally if they weren't on his team. He says he'll massacre Medics, skin every Scout, hang every Heavy and gouge their eyes out. This means he only 'cares' for his teammates if they're on his side.
- His songs ended up traumatizing his teammates.
- While all the mercs are mass murdering warcriminals like in canon, the Engineer stands out thanks to being the only merc with an on-screen kill count (besides Spy and the Beard/"Sniper", who have 1 and 2 kills respectively, which is way lower than Engie's kill count) due to the animated visuals. He also stands out due to the sheer brutality of his kills, notably the BLU Soldier.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He's too comedic. Fitting with TF2's comedic tone, his crimes are all over-exaggerated and played for laughs, as he's happily singing over them while traumatizing his teammates. He also has less major comedic moments, like the Pyro burning his marshmellow, him gaining a more realistic appearance when killing the BLU Spy, among others.
- He is too affable, is he is incredibly friendly towards his team and refers to them as his "friends", seemingly not realizing he ended up traumatizing them. There's also some little moments, like telling the Medic that smoking is bad for his health, not getting mad at Pyro for burning his marshmellow, and him accepting Heavy's requests.
- Even if they aren't sentient, his care for his creations is a little too important to ignore. He was sad when his "girlfriend" Katrina died to a zapper, and created her "baby sister" as a way to revive her.
