Our world is changing. The mass extinction we feared… has already begun… and we are the cause. We are the infection. But like all living organisms, the Earth unleashed a fever to fight this infection: its original and rightful rulers, the Titans. For thousands of years, these creatures have remained in hiding around the world. And unless all the Titans are found, our planet will perish, and so will we. They are the only guarantee that life will carry on.
~ Emma Russell explaining her goal to awaken the Titans and restore peace to Earth due to humanity causing destruction to the planet.
Long live… the king.
~ Emma's last words before she dies after being injured by King Ghidorah when attempting to distract him in order to save Godzilla and allow her family to escape.

Dr. Emma Williams Russell is a major antagonist of Godzilla: King of the Monsters, the third installment of the MonsterVerse franchise and a sequel to the 2014 Godzilla . She is also the main human protagonist of the prequel comic Godzilla: Aftershock.

She is the ex-wife of Mark Russell, mother of Madison Russell and the late Andrew Russell and a former Monarch scientist who originally works for Alan Jonah and his terrorist group, but after her son Andrew was lost during Godzilla's fight with the M.U.T.O.s in 2014, Russell became convinced that humanity was like a plague and that the Titans were the only way to restore nature to the Earth.

She was portrayed by Vera Farmiga.

Her Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Her Heinous?[]

  • She worked with Alan Jonah to release the Titans across the world so they can rampage and kill many humans.
  • She helps Jonah break into Monarch's cell to take Mothra, to kill the guards as well as take allegedly her and her daughter captive.
    • While she was protecting Madison the latter could have been harmed by the staff who were not loyal to her or by the monsters.
  • Helping Jonah's team escape from the authorities and succeed in his plan.
  • She convinced Madison Russell not go back to her father, Mark.
  • She released Ghidorah in Antarctica, making her responsible for the millions of people he'd murder later on.
  • She released Rodan, who killed several people in the village and would later assist Ghidorah in causing mass murder and destruction.

What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]

  • She genuinely loved her son Andrew and still loves her husband Mark and her daughter Madison.
  • Feels some genuine affection towards the Titans, especially one's like Mothra
  • She is also tragic due to losing her son during a fight to some monsters.
  • She is generally affable as she tries to explain her goals to Mark, on top of going back to him after her redemption.
  • She attempted to save a scientist from Jonah's upcoming attack by suggesting he go home for the day.
  • She’s on & off, playing a heroic role in Godzilla: Aftershock and at the end of Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
  • She is a genuine extremist and grey zone who wants to fix the world and does care about the Titans.
  • She has some standards, such as realizing Ghidorah is going too far by wanting to destroy humanity.
  • She redeems herself by pulling a heroic sacrifice to lure Ghidorah away and save Madison and the rest of Monarch.
