The Eldritch Goop is a major antagonist in SMG4, serving as one of the three secondary antagonists (alongside One-Shot Wren and Marty) of Season 13 and the main antagonist of SMG4 Movie: IT'S GOTTA BE PERFECT.
It is a mysterious, horrific creature made by Mr. Puzzles' keyboard that took control of SMG4 and is overall responsible for the ultimate destruction of their central hub: Peach's Castle.
Its Evil Ranking[]
What Makes It Heinous?[]
- It possessed SMG4, driving him further into insanity than he already is.
- When SMG3 and Meggy tried to snap him out of his insanity, it tried to kill SMG3 by dragging him into its demonic darkness to drown him. When SMG3 and Meggy escaped, it spread itself and took over the castle.
- It attacked and tried to murder SMG4's crew (Boopkins, Saiko, Luigi, Tari, Bob, Mario, Meggy, and SMG3), and while it was true it was mostly done out of self-defense, it attacked Boopkins first for no reason, leading to the other members of SMG4's crew attacking it. It also tried to kill Tari despite her giving it a peace offering, and it also, during the fight, tortured Boopkins by hitting him between 2 badminton rackets it was holding.
- It threw Mario, Meggy, and SMG3 inside the castle and trapped them inside.
- It tricked Mario, SMG3, and Meggy into entering SMG4’s room by making it look like it appeared.
- It intentionally scared Mario by showing him a sign with the word “Boo!” on it, showing some sadism.
- It smashed Fishy Boopkins despite him trying to be friendly to it.
- It is heavily implied to have corrupted Toad into a redesign because while SMG4 was the one who seemingly experimented with redesigns, it was created by SMG4’s editing and creativity and likely used SMG4’s redesign to corrupt Toad, leading him to try to kill Meggy, SMG3, and Mario, with Toad even brutally crushing Meggy.
- It imprisoned SMG3 in a block of ice and later fused with him and tried to use him to kill Mario and Meggy. This also seems to be a fate worse than death, given how SMG3 was in pain and begging Mario and Meggy to help him when fused with the Eldritch Goop.
- It was its presence and its threat to the Mushroom Kingdom that led to Swag and Chris trying to destroy the castle with Mario, Meggy, SMG3, and SMG4 in it, which would have killed them. This also led to SMG4’s gang almost getting into a fight with Swag and Chris that likely would have ended up with them hurting, injuring, or possibly even killing each other if Boopkins hadn't broken up the fight.
- It tried to kill Meggy, SMG3, and Mario by drowning them in its eldritch goop, a fairly brutal way of trying to kill the heroes.
- It tried to spread its eldritch goop throughout the entire Mushroom Kingdom, endangering it.
- When SMG4 broke out of its control, it restricted him until he would finish his perfect video, leading to him and SMG3 nearly dying in the sinking castle.
- Its presence leads to Chris permanently sinking Peach's Castle (and the princess herself with it) in order to neutralize it.
- It gets even worse in the case of Peach Toadstool as well, as she was stranded down in the abyss for about four months, and the prolonged exposure to the Eldritch Goop's substance while down there for this long has transformed her into a horrifying monster as a result. Even when Peach has her villainous moments and is a constant nagging jerk to Mario and other characters, she did not deserve this fate, as her actions born of ill will were tamer compared to the other villains who are more heinous than her in the series, and she has been shown on many different occasions to have her nicer and compassionate moments as well.
- While Niles, Mario, and Mr. Puzzles did worse, the Eldritch Goop have fewer resources than them.
What Makes It Inconsistent?[]
- The Eldritch Goop has little to no personality, with it acting like a parasite wanting to spread everywhere and even like a predator due to mostly roaring, and while during its comedic moments and when it tricked SMG3, Mario, and Meggy, it shows some sapience and personality, it isn't enough to be PE or NPE, making it a "Generic Doomsday Villain".
- It originates from SMG4, which is an extremely memetic series that almost never takes itself seriously, which makes it played for laughs too much for NPE by default. Even then, it additionally has several detracting comedic moments, like when Bob fed it one of its tentacles turned into sushi, it yelled "EWW" with cartoonish bulging-out eyes and exploded, and when it scared Mario using a sign with "Boo!" on it.
