Eduardo Pérez, better known by his supervillain name El Macho, is the main antagonist of Illumination's 4th feature film Despicable Me 2, the second installment of the Despicable Me franchise.
He is a former supervillain who kidnapped Felonious Gru's minions and turned them into killing machines so he could conquer the world.
He was voiced by Benjamin Bratt.

What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- 20 years before the events of the story, he was a villain who terrorized Mexico and committed heists with his bare hands, with him at one point knocking out a bartender before punching two people driving a bank truck so he could steal it.
- He stole the PX-41 serum by using a giant magnet on the lab that was developing it, possibly killing the scientists working there at the time.
- He had Dr. Nefario kidnap nearly all of the Minions and mutate them with the serum, planning on using them to destroy many cities such as Paris and New York and rule over the remains, even saying that if anyone tried to stop him he would have the Minions eat their city.
- The fact that this would cause millions of deaths isn't Fridge Horror as he calls the mutated Minions "killing machines" and demonstrates how durable they are by making the minions take gunfire and a flamethrower, before making them eat a falling police car and atomic bomb without any problem.
- After learning that the AVL was after him, he framed rival shop owner Floyd Eaglesan as the culprit by putting an empty PX-41 container in his shop.
- When Gru refused his deal with him to help him conquer the world, El Macho sent the mutated Kevin to his house, which nearly resulted in the deaths of Margo, Edith, and Agnes.
- He kidnapped Lucy after learning she and Gru were AVL members, trying to launch her into the volcano where he faked his death to kill her, before using the PX-41 on himself to kill Gru when he failed.
- He easily passes the Heinous Standard, as while Scarlet Overkill attempted genocide on all the Minions and Balthazar Bratt attempted to launch Hollywood into space, El Macho surpasses both of them in terms of scale.
- While not entirely, he is taken more seriously than other Despicable Me villains, with his plan to destroy multiple cities being played for horror.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is too affable to be NPE, as he paid for his shot of tequila when he was a villain in Mexico, gave a random woman a voucher or an invitation to his Cinco De Mayo party, encouraged Margo and his son Antonio to get to know each other better, his pet the dog moment where he comforted Gru about Lucy when she was going to Australia, asked Gru multiple times to join him in his plan to conquer the world, and suggested to Gru that they could have conquered the world together.
- He cares for his pet chicken, El Pollito, as he hugged him when he found out he was okay after Gru and Lucy broke into his restaurant and always treated him nicely when he interacts with him, and he cares for his son, Antonio, as he tried to help him when he was dating Margo.
- He has some comedic moments that detract from his villainy, such as his over the top faking of his death by riding a shark into an active volcano, the passcode to his lair being a dance game, him growing a gut while transforming, and his defeat of Gru using Lucy's lipstick taser on him before Dr. Nefario hits him with the fart gun while he displays over-the-top reactions.

- El Macho started off as Inconsistently Heinous but was cut when it was slated his attempted destruction of cities was pure Fridge Horror and thus, he failed the heinous standards to Balthazar Bratt, who seemingly did worse at the time with less resources. However, after it was proven to be false and he wanted to destroy multiple cities with the Purple Minions, giving it weight, he was eventually reproposed and reapproved.
- By extension, this also boosted Dr. Nefario's heinous scale because he was needed in his plan to take over the world.
- Is one of four Despicable Me characters considered 'Inconsistently Heinous' - the others being Balthazar Bratt, Scarlet Overkill and Dr Nefario.
- He is the first Inconsistently Heinous character to be nominated for both Magnificent Baddie and Inconsistently Heinous at the same month in May 2024.
