~ Edmundo before using his accordion to revive his family |
Edmundo is the main antagonist of the Cartoon Network Brazilian comedy horror television series Haunted Tales For Wicked Kids created by Victor-Hugo Vorges serving as the main antagonist of the series and its film adaptation Haunted Tales: The Movie.
He is the sole survivor of his species after it went extinct thanks to failing to use the youth of the infant Pepe to keep living, deeming him for dead after his mother supposedly dropped him in the river. 10 years later he would find out Pepe was actually still alive and young enough for him to use as a tool to bring his family back to life, with his ultimate goal being to use him as a sacrifice for his family, after succeeding however, he decides to reveal against them after reflecting on their abusive treatment, deciding to become a better person and travel all around the world, redeeming himself.
He was voiced by Hélio Ribeiro, who also voiced Joker from DC Black in the Brazilian dub.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- With the idea of wanting to live forever and cheat death, he began to mutilate himself and his family to later slowly replace their flesh with metallic portions, upon seeing this didn't work, he created a machine to extract the youth of all the infants in his family to live forever.
- This becomes worse by the fact the process is shown to be extremely painful, as seen when Pepe only had a part of his youth taken and yet he struggled to breathe and was left in a zombified state, and if the past visions of the babies in Edmundo's song are anything to go by, they didn't have a pleasant end.
- Under his father's orders he planned to kidnap the infant Pepe and drain all his life force to finally become immortal.
- After becoming aware Pepe was still alive, he immediately used his portal machine to sneak inside his house and capture him.
- After coming face to face with Grandma and Guto, Edmundo activates one of his machines, "The Magic Nullifier" to nullify Vo's potions and powers, but it not only does that, but drains all the life from Grandma, effectively making her more old and weak, to the point she's slowly dying thanks to the effects of the machine and Edmundo makes fun of her current state by stating that without magic she's just "an old lady".
- Edmundo later uses the portal machine to temporarily trap Guto in a loop where he never stops falling, after defeating them Edmundo locks "Pepe" inside a locker and makes the preparations for the machine he would use in the ritual.
- During the process of the preparations for the ritual Edmundo enslaves both Grandma and Guto to make them clean the tower and leave it shining, he gives them a quick break for a snack but after that he forces them to go back to work but Grandma refuses, this causes Edmundo to sadistically laugh as he teleports next to the Magic Nullifier and increases it's intensity to torture Grandma, making her a lot more weak and older to the point she loses her color, teeth and her hearing is very damaged, painfully draining a majority of her life.
- After Edmundo fixes the machine of the ritual he takes both Guto and Grandma and imprisons them inside a giant glass container, he tells them it's impossible to get out of there as he slowly approaches the locker where Pepe is and planned to take him out for the ritual and sacrifice him infront of them, before realizing he captured a cat instead of the real Pepe.
- He manipulates Pepe with the promise of finding his parents and letting his friend in exchange of giving him pat of his youth, this succeeds and Edmundo begins the ritual, which painfully drains Pepe's youth and life, which in the end leaves him in a zombified state where he's unable to move and can barely breathe.
- While he has some comedic moments, they are very brief and do not detract of his heinous actions as he's taken as a genuine and competent threat to Pepe and his friends during the course of the film.
- Even after he redeemed himself he didn't feel any real remorse for his actions nor he genuinely apologized to them, as while he did somewhat apologize to Grandma, it was only a half-assed apology that carried no real meaning or showed he was truly remorseful about it.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He has some insecurities that are played for sympathy, this is especially seen with his father, Brain, who's an abusive parent for him that never seems to value his efforts, even after Edmundo brought them back to life and is the only reason they were still alive, and his job is still deemed as not enough and something that even his little brother could have done better, proving that despite caring for them, his family never valued him. Additionally this becomes worse by the fact Edmundo's whole goal was based on awakening them and even apologized to them when he thought he wouldn't be able to bring them back.
- He loves and cares for his family, as all his actions in the movie were motivated by the goal of bringing them back to life and be immortal together, even when he betrayed his father and defeated him he was saddened by this, meaning he felt genuine remorse for one of his actions and still loved his father despite his harsh treatment.
- He's also capable of forming genuine bonds with people and becoming friends with them as seen with Cat Pepe. While at first he treated him harshly, after Cat Pepe encouraged him to continue with his plan, Edmundo started appreciating Cat Pepe's company and made him his friend and partner, this goes to the point he cares about the cat's wellbeing and considers him his best friend.
- He's honorable as he kept to Pepe his word about not hurting his friends and was planning to let them all go before his father interrupted him and broke the deal.
- The main reason of why he can't be NPE is because at near the end of the film, after finally standing up for himself in the first time of his life, he defeats his abusive father and let's Pepe's friends free, redeeming himself in the process and retiring from villany, with that in mind he can't go any higher than IH.
