Each of you has experienced the loss of colleagues, friends, and even family to the devastation caused by the horrible Kaiju scourge. I've felt that pain, that loss, and I wake up every morning, asking myself; "How can I stop it from happening again?" But our shared sacrifices have not been in vain. Today is a landmark day, and thanks to your courageous efforts, very soon our families and the families of this country will be able to live in a better world, a safe world. A world absent from fear.
~ Dr. Onda's famous speech during his introduction.

Dr. Onda is the main antagonist of 2024 Netflix animated movie Ultraman: Rising. He is a scientist-turned-chief officer of Kaiju Defense Force who dedicated his life to wipe out all Kaiju to protect the world from them and prevent anymore losses. He also plans to capture Emi and used her to locate the Kaiju Island and destroy it along with all Kaiju living there. However, his plans were thwarted by Ultraman along with his father and two mother and daughter Gigantrons.

He is voiced by Keone Young in English and Fumihiko Tachiki in Japanese.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • After losing his family, he dedicated himself to destroy all Kaiju to protect the world and prevent anymore loss of many innocent people and loved ones.
  • Becoming the new commander of the KDF, he had neutralized and likely killed off at least nine Kaiju in the past, with Neronga being the latest victim.
  • He ordered the KDF to capture the Gigantron egg, which resulted in luring the Kaiju to Tokyo city and almost destroyed the baseball stadium, ruining Ken's baseball game as result.
  • After discovering that Emi was running around the Tokyo while unknowingly causing a rampage, he and his army went for a takeoff to capture her.
  • He demanded Ultraman to give the baby Gigantron, Emi, to them and promised not to take action against him, but the Ultra refused and flew away with her instead.
  • He mechanically converted Gigantron into Mecha Gigantron.
  • He managed to track down Emi at a private island where Professor Sato's vacation home is and send out more drones to attack the main trio, thus causing Professor Sato to get critically injured and Ken transformed into an Ultraman in a fit of rage and destroy all of the drones he encountered.
  • When he managed to locate Ken's home, he sent out Mecha Gigantron to lure Emi away and firing missiles which almost killed his father and destroyed Mina. Fortunately, Professor Sato managed to survive by transforming into Ultradad before that.
  • He ordered Mecha Gigantron to kill the Ultraman, causing him to revert back into Ken Sato before he was saved by Ultradad from drowning in the ocean.
  • After Emi managed to break her mother free from the KDF's control, he transformed the ship into a gigantic robot called "the Destroyer" to finish off both Ultramen and both Kaijus all by himself after the rest of KDF was escorted away to the escape pods.
  • He sent Ultraman flying away back to Tokyo by swinging a flail at him and attempted to kill Ultradad with an energy blade, even crippling him, while furiously ranting and blaming on him for failing to protect his family and breaking his trust on him.
  • To use his last resort out of spite, he decided to activate the robot's self-destruct sequence in hopes of destroying two Ultramen and the Kaiju and take them down along with him, which by doing so will destroy the portion of the city.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He is too tragic to be NPE since he used to be a loving family man towards his wife and daughter until their loss at the hands of a Kaiju attack led to his hatred and vengeance towards all Kaiju. He's still in pain of their loss as shown from rewatching a recording of their last moments to him whenever he is alone, which is always played for sympathy.
  • He's a well-intentioned extremist who swore to destroy all Kaiju because he believes the world will be safe without them in hopes of protecting the world from them, followed by the resolve of preventing anymore loss of innocent people and their loved ones.
  • He is genuinely affable and honorable throughout the movie as when he and the KDF cornered both Ultraman and Emi at the Tokyo Tower, he promised they won't take actions against Ultraman if he hands over the baby Kaiju to them, but only for him to refuse and flew away, and the KDF went back to the headquarters and likely didn't go after them instead. He is also very caring towards the rest of KDF, as he allowed Captain Aoshima to go back home and spend more time with his family, proving he's not a hypocrite since he knew that Aoshima has a family, and orders him to escort the rest of the team away to the escape pods before he went to face both Ultramen and both Kaiju all by himself, showing that he's pretty much protective towards them.
  • He admits to Captain Aoshima that he doesn't enjoy being the chief officer and commander of the KDF, as well as a majority of his actions, indicating he has some form of remorse over what he has become and genuinely missed being a scientist. Despite that, he's learned the hard way to make hard decisions against the Kaiju and to protect other families at hand.
  • His death is played for sympathy, during his final moments, he activated the Destroyer's self-destruct sequence in hopes of destroying both Ultramen and both Kaiju with an intention of taking them down with him which will destroy the portion of the city. He later plays the last recording of his family before tearfully closing it down and hoping he'll see them soon. When Ultraman forms a dome barrier around himself and the robot to contains the self-destruction, he does nothing but helplessly watch while peacefully accepting his death in dignity.
