Dr. Marcus "Mark" Fry is the secondary antagonist of the 2023 Netflix stop-motion animated comedy film Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, the sequel to DreamWorks Animation's 4th full-length animated feature film Chicken Run.

He is the second husband of Mrs. Tweedy and a gifted scientist who works at the Fun-Land Farms factory, where he and his wife produce chicken nuggets for restaurants. To do so, Fry brainwashes the chickens with collars so he can keep them entertained and happy at a playground only to then send them to their deaths with a smile on the face so their meat comes off tasty and tender.

He was voiced by Nick Mohammed.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • He helps his wife Mrs. Tweedy in the "Dawn of the Nugget", a plan of hers that involves brainwashing chickens so they die with no stress and terror to make their meat tender and tasty for sell at the market, in spite of the two knowing that chickens are sapient. To do so, Fry invents collars that make the minds of the chickens vanish in a fate worse than death-like state so they mindlessly entertain themselves at a playground before using a remote control to make them happily walk to the nugget machinery that turns then into buckets of nuggets.
    • Him knowing just as much of their sapience as his wife is proven due to being able to understand that chickens that die happy would be tastier than those that die scared. He also saw nothing strange about Mrs. Tweedy speaking angry at Ginger for causing her defeat in the first film.
  • He forces Frizzle to wear a collar by putting it on her himself when he sees her about to discover the truth about the room where all the chickens wander, horrifying Frizzle's friend Molly, whom he didn't see wandering around without one of his collars.
  • He sends one of his chickens to her death at the nugget machine under Mrs. Tweedy's orders as a demonstration for Reginald Smith of the "Sir Eat-A-Lot" restaurant chain to make business with him. While the chicken dies offscreen, this isn't offscreen villainy as we hear the machine and see the nugget pile cooked from her remains.
  • He attempts to send all of the brainwashed chickens, like Frizzle, to their deaths under his wife's orders after Ginger and her party escape from the corn silo where they were trapped, before Ginger and Rocky prevent him from doing so.
  • He tries to catch Ginger and Rocky Rhodes when they appear to stop him so his wife wouldn't be displeased for his failure.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He is a scapegoat, just like his wife's ex husband. Due to how he gets routinely abused and manipulated by Mrs. Tweedy (who only married for being beneficial to her plans and is willing to ditch him if she sees fit), it's shown that he doesn't really hate chickens and presumably faces severe injury at the end, even though he didn't do anything too particularly vile to deserve it.
  • He is genuinely honorable, as he designs the chicken exhibits to be comfortable and accommodating for them having in mind their inevitable fate. He also shows reluctance towards staunch animal cruelty, especially killing the chickens in mass quantities.
  • He has a lot of moments of being too comedic and incompetent to take him seriously, like him referring to Smith by the name of his restaurant, being seen weirdly for dressing as a big chicken and getting his head stuck in a big fake egg and subsequently falling down the stairs while on the rolling chair.
  • He is genuinely affable and loves his wife, even though she doesn't care for him; he has always did everything at his expense and wished to impress her by assisting her in her goals.
  • He has some standards, given how he refused to use the full power of his collars on Ginger because there was the threat of making her lose her senses completely.

Trivia[]
