Throw me a frickin' bone here!
~ Dr. Evil's catchphrase.
That's Doctor Evil. I didn't spend five years in Evil Medical School to be called "mister", thank you very much!
~ Dr. Evil bristling at being called "Mr. Evil".
I'm gonna get you, Austin Powers!
~ Dr. Evil's closing line and most famous quote.

Douglas "Dougie" Powers, better known as Dr. Evil, is the main antagonist of the Austin Powers trilogy.

He is the head of a criminal organization with the intention of taking over the world, the son of Nigel Powers, and he is the former archenemy and long-lost brother of main protagonist Austin Powers.

He was portrayed by Mike Myers.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

In General[]

  • He is by proxy, responsible for all of his associates’ crimes, including:
    • Every assassin in the series attempting to kill Austin.
    • Goldmember kidnapping Austin’s father, painting several sailors' genitalia gold and attempting to flood the earth.
    • Frau Farbissina and her Fembots killing a dozen of his guards.
    • Fat Bastard stealing Austin’s “mojo” and sleeping with Felicity (who is the love interest in the second movie)
    • Scott brutally mauling Dr. Roboto to death via his “laser sharks”.
    • Mini-Me biting Number Two’s fingers and threatening to kill Scott.
  • He would usually berate and insult Scott Evil for “not being evil enough”, which would cause Scott immense psychological damage and turn against him.
  • He attempted to self-destruct his lair in a last resort to kill Austin, not caring about the fact that hundreds of people could die in the process.

International Man of Mystery[]

  • Prior to the events of the film, he hired several assassins to kill Austin Powers.
  • When he learns that they all failed to do so, he burned most of them to death, with the exceptions being Frau Farbissina and Mustafa, though it’s for pragmatic reasons, as he needs them for his evil plan.
  • He harpoons one of his own henchmen when he failed to kill Austin Powers.
  • He kills Mustafa for making his cat, Mr. Bigglesworth, bald. He brutally burns Mustafa, and when it is revealed that he was alive, he sent a henchman to finish the job by shooting him to death.
  • He comes up with multiple plans to blackmail the world, such as threatening to reveal that Prince Charles committed adultery, and punching a hole in the ozone layer so that the world’s population develops skin cancer, and when it is revealed that those things already happened, he plotted to steal a warhead from Russia (more on that in a bit) and hold the world hostage. It is also implied that he did this multiple times.
  • Whilst he does attempts to bond with his son, Scott Evil, he simultaneously insults him and later doesn’t care that he was taken hostage by Austin. It is also revealed that he had the group therapy group liquidated for being insolent. He even attempted to have his son burned to death when Scott wanted to stay in for the evening and would’ve gone through with it hadn’t been for Frau’s intervention.
  • His ultimate plan was to place a nuclear warhead into a drill and have the warhead detonate in the Earth’s core, causing every volcano on the planet to erupt, unless if the United Nations pay him 100 billion dollars. Even if the United Nations pay him, he still would’ve gone through with his plan to erupt every volcano on Earth.
  • He sadistically kidnapped Austin and his love interest, Vanessa Kensington, and attempted to have them fed to mutated sea bass.
  • When Number Two backstabs him, he brutally burns him, though it doesn’t kill Number Two.

The Spy Who Shagged Me[]

  • When he was thwarted by Austin the first time, it was revealed that Vanessa was a Fembot, so he had her shoot at Austin and ultimately self-destruct.
  • He plotted go to 1969 and steal Austin’s charisma and deprive him of all of his qualities that make him a good spy.
  • He berated Number 2 for no reason and assaulted him with a yoga ball painted as the earth.
  • He attempted to use a giant laser to destroy several cities across the world and blackmail the US President into giving him 100 billion dollars (reminder that Dr. Evil is still in 1969).
  • He had Austin and Felicity put into a jail cell and attempted to have them fall into lava, causing them to burn to death.
  • He had Felicity kidnapped and attempted to kill her via poison gas. He also succeeded for a brief moment but ultimately failed because of Austin’s plan to use a time machine.

In Goldmember[]

  • He would recruit the help of the infamous crime lord, Goldmember.
  • He once more attempted to blackmail the world into paying him a heavy ransom, using a tractor beam known as “Preparation H”, which is powerful enough to pull in the meteor, “Midas 22”, which would hit the polar ice caps, causing a global flood.
  • He manipulated Austin into transferring him into a regular prison cell, with him revealing the location of Goldmember for doing so.
  • He orchestrated a prison riot, which gave him enough time for him and Mini-Me to escape.
  • In order to prove to the World Organization that he isn’t bluffing with his tractor beam, he deorbited a satellite using said tractor beam.
  • Whilst it does seem like he cares for his son when he turns “evil”, he later subverts that quality by insulting him by the way Scott ran like a girl.
  • He had Austin’s father, Nigel, kidnapped and put into the brig.
  • He attempted to kill Austin one final time by having him fed to his sharks with laser beams attached to their heads and only stopped when it is revealed that he is actually Austin’s twin brother.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He is far too comedic for Near Pure Evil, as he is played for laughs very often, if not always. Good examples include him rapping in the second and third films, him being oblivious to Scott’s insults and him using air quotes in multiple instances.
  • He ultimately cares for his clone, Mini-Me, as he gave him medical treatment in order to make sure he doesn’t get sick from the coldness of space and was genuinely shocked and sad when Mini-Me betrayed him, though Evil later forgives him when he redeems himself.
  • Cares for his pet cat, Mr. Bigglesworth, as he was visibly angry after the unfreezing process removed Bigglesworth's fur.
  • He had an incredibly tragic past. His mother was killed in an assassination attempt, he was brutally beaten by his foster parents in a burlap sack and was constantly berated by his school peers.
  • He has several moments of honor.
  • He redeems himself when it is revealed that he is Austin’s twin brother and Nigel’s other son. He does so by helping them to stop Goldmember from flooding the world.

Trivia[]

  • While Dr. Evil is currently Inconsistently Heinous, there's a chance this may change if he returns in the long-gestating fourth Austin Powers film, which Mike Myers has expressed willingness to do though it hasn't entered active development since its announcement in 2005.
  • Originally, he wasn't Inconsistently Heinous because his worst crime was thought to have relied on Fridge Horror and because of this, his most evil crimes were just standard Kill-the-Hero villainy. However, when it was revealed that his plan would destroy every city on Earth and cause all volcanoes to erupt, this counted as attempted world domination, and it allowed him to be approved.
  • Dr. Evil is currently the only Austin Powers villain to be Inconsistently Heinous.
