YOU SEE THIS BURNING, BLOODY UNIVERSE? YOU SEE THIS, ULTIMATE, UNLIMITED POWER? Varik. I HAVE F***ING HAD IT WITH YOUR S**T. you little f***ers are going to have your bodies ripped in half. i'll shove your asses so far down your throats that when you crap you'll sing f***ing beethoven. tl;dr: eat s**t, f****ts.
~ Dr. Andonuts' infamous breakdown before his battle begins.

Dr. Andonuts is the main antagonist of Earthbound: Halloween Hack, a romhack of Earthbound made by Toby Fox. Like his original counterpart, he was the estranged genius scientist father of Jeff, but this version of him went insane after sending his son and friends to death in his battle against Giygas.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • As a result of his insanity, he starts to perform experiments on people and animals, which turns them into hostile chimera monsters.
  • He releases the monsters, which have turned Winters, his own homeland, into "a land of horrors far more deadly than anything [Varik has] ever imagined". Varik, a bounty hunter who has killed monsters before, has been terrified by the new Winters. Desperate bloody survivors who have resorted to cannibalism and modified aliens are the only things left in the Winters. A gravestone which is "one of the many" is presented in the Winters.
  • The monsters he created have been spread from the Winters to the Twoson via the sewer system. It is confirmed that a girl was forced to watch as her mother had her organs ripped out violently by one of his monsters.
  • When confronted by Varik, he refuses to show remorse for causing countless deaths and states everybody deserved it, then cowardly tries to run away from Varik.
  • Inside his consciousness, he taunts and tries to kill Varik, even using some homophobic slurs and talking about giving him Fates Worse than Death (although it is possible this was just Varik's imagination).
  • While his consciousness cursing out Varik could be seen as comedic, it doesn't really detract from his villainy and he's still portrayed as a dark and tragic character.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He has a notable tragic backstory as he was divorced by his wife, became deeply lonely after that and felt he was unfit to take care of his son due to his low self esteem after his wife died and he fell into further depression. Later on, he would find his first moment of happiness as he provided technological support for Ness, Paula, Jeff and Po's actions to defeat Giygas and save the world, but when the kids could not return, Dr. Andonuts blames himself as he believes that he is the killer of his son Jeff and his son's friends, something he holds when he is defeated and is about to die. Dr. Andonuts becomes insane, which drives him to do his heinous acts. Most of the game is spent exploring his mind and paints him in a sympathetic light.
  • He has moral agency issue because he becomes insane and he is consistently portrayed as such during the whole game. Inside Dr. Andonuts' Magicant, roughly his mindscape, his inner conflicts, including but not limited to self-blaming, are shown in detail.
  • He cared about his son Jeff and seemingly his friends too, as he felt incredible remorse when realising they could never come back and viewed himself as their killer.
  • He (or his consciousness at least) is genuinely affable towards Varik, despite being enemies. He apologizes for not putting up a good fight, asks to be reasoned with, and a few other things.
  • His death is played with sympathy as Varik wonders if killing him was the right thing despite the cruel things he did.

Trivia[]

  • He is the only EarthBound Inconsistently Heinous not to be a version of Giygas.
