Donkey Kong (also known as DK in acronym) is the main antagonist of the 2015 sci-fi action comedy film Pixels.

He is the supreme king of all of the Pixels aliens and Q*Bert’s former superior. He is also the arch-nemesis of Sam Brenner.

Its Evil Ranking[]

What Makes It Heinous?[]

  • It led an attack on earth first by attacking a military base in Guam using Galaga forces and kidnapping one of the soldiers as a trophy for them.
  • It sent a message that they had received a war offer (which was just footage of the two protagonists playing arcade games in 1982 sent into space by NASA) and that they will destroy the world if they win in their video game battles, where Earth has 3 lives and already lost 1 in the military base attack.
  • It attacked India, most notably the Taj Mahal, where he then kidnapped a bystander as a trophy meaning Earth lost another life and is left with 1 more.
  • It attacked London with an alien taking the form of Centipede which they play with Earth, which gets a soldier killed in a horrific way by turning into pixels and almost gets a random bystander kid killed, before Earth won the round.
  • It attacked New York with an alien taking the form of Pac Man which gets most of the city destroyed and led to Professor Toru Iwatani having his arm bitten off and turned into pixels. Earth won this round at first only to lose when it was discovered a player cheated.
  • It led an attack in Washington DC because one player cheated with Pac-Man with lots of arcade characters creating mayhem and chaos, a starter for the total destruction of Earth as a whole.
  • It met with the protagonists and challenged them to a serious game of Donkey Kong during the final battle.
  • While it could be said that he is a parody, he is taken very dead seriously throughout the entire movie and it's crimes are played for horror and nightmare fuel.

What Makes It Inconsistent?[]

  • It only attacked humanity after receiving a video of what it took as a threat on its species, making it a villain by proxy.
  • It’s shown to be honourable on several occasions:
    • After the humanity’s first loss, it gave them warnings before each battle along with a time and place.
    • After losing in Centipede and PAC-MAN, it congratulated the humans and rewarded them with trophies.
    • It always followed the rules of the game each battle related to, and was so disgusted when Eddie cheated that it considered Earth’s challenge forfeited.
    • It gave the humans one more chance to fight it in the form of a Donkey Kong game, promising to call it’s forces off if they won. Although it died in the challenge, considering everything was returned to normal afterwards, it was seemingly willing to make good on its promise.
  • It's Insufficiently Characterized as it really only appears at the end of the movie and has hardly any personality to speak of besides being brutish, silent and ill-tempered, which isn't enough for it to be NPE or PE.
