I stand before you now to say you are the old way, Invincible! I represent a new world order! Tremble before the might of Dinosaurus!
~ Dinosaurus introduces himself to Invincible.
Calm Yourself. I trust you far less than you trust me.
~ Dinosaurus and Thragg are suspicious of each other.

Dinosaurus is a major antagonist in the Image Comics series Invincible. He is a dissociative personality of David Anders. David transforms into Dinosaurus whenever he is feeling bored or apathetic. When he becomes Dinosaurus, he desires to help the world, but Dinosaurus's way of helping the world includes killing people to give people better lives in the future.

Dinosaurus later becomes an ally of Invincible, but eventually betrays him by blowing up the Arctic in the belief that billions can be saved in the future.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • He attacked and berated Invincible for reconstructing damaged buildings. This shows just how delusional he is despite being an extremist.
  • He blew up Las Vegas and got thousands of people killed. While it did help benefit humanity in the future, it does not excuse the lives he took.
  • He betrayed Invincible by blowing up the Arctic which resulted in the deaths of over a million people as he believed it would save billions in the future.
  • His belief that he needed to die in order to be stopped indicates that his moment of regret after Invincible talks him down was only temporary and he would have turned back to villainy if he survived. This means he isn’t technically a redeemed villain.
  • Although he is a personality within David Anders and is clearly delusional, nothing indicates that Dinosaurus lacks moral agency, and he still displays a full awareness of right and wrong.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • Despite his delusions, Dinosaurus is a genuine extremist as his crimes are in order to save lives.
    • His destruction of Las Vegas led to thousands of people getting employed. He was also able to have solar panels being planted on the remains of the city, giving people renewable energy.
    • His melting of the Arctic was done in an attempt to prevent humanity’s potential extinction from drought and famine a century later.
  • He is On and Off as he has teamed up with Invincible to fight other villains like Omnipotus and Thragg, even saving Invincible’s life in the latter case.
  • Although they were sometimes enemies, he still cared about Invincible as he went out of his way to save him from Thragg on the Viltrumite ship and pretended to kill him on TV to give him a “fresh start”.
  • He was eventually able to understand his delusions in the aftermath of blowing up the Arctic which prompts him to request his death at the hands of Invincible, as he did not want his delusions to turn him into a monster.

Trivia[]

  • He is the only Inconsistently Heinous character from Invincible who has not yet been introduced in the animated series.
