You don't know the depths to which humanity can sink, my young friend. But I do. Over the centuries, I've seen hundreds of horrors that would blast your soul! Come let me show you what mankind is really like.
~ Demona

Demona is one of the main antagonists of the animated television series Gargoyles. She was the former mate and second in command to the leader of the Wyvern clan Goliath. After the massacre of most of the clan in the castle of Wyvern, she became Goliath's archenemy after she blames him for the deaths of most of the clan and has a deep hatred for all humanity. She was voiced by Marina Sirtis.

Her Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Her Heinous?[]

  • She hates humanity and want to destroy all humans; even when the majority have never done anything wrong especially to her.
  • She always tries to kill Goliath and his clan when they try and stop her.
  • Unnecessarily destroys one of the airships Xanatos assigns her and Goliath to "take back the stolen disks from." But before she was about to drop one of the guards to their death before Goliath told her not to
  • Whille still at Wyvern, she would sneak and steal the Grimorim for The Archmage
  • A century after the massacre of Wyvern while Gargoyles were being hunted down by the hunter, she led a clan of Gargoyles who ransacked a cabin of food, and brutally slaughtered the guards there even after defeating and capturing them.
  • She betrayed Macbeth and let the English defeat his kingdom and destroy his castle, because she thought he would betray her, although there was no indication of that.
  • She stole food out of a cabin and sliced a boys face when he caught her, this boy was Gillecomgain, who became the first Hunter because of this.
  • She is partly to blame for the massacre of most of the clan because she Conspired with the captain of the guard to let the Vikings capture all the humans in the castle while the clan flees so the clan can have it all to themselves, and then failed to let the gargoyles know in fear of getting caught conspiring with Captain of the Guard, and glides away hiding somewhere else before the massacre, which is how she survived. So instead of blaming herself, she blames everyone else.
  • She blames all humans even though none of them in the present day were even born yet let alone had anything to do with it.
  • Almost Kills Goliath for refusing to join her in her quest against humanity.
  • Tricks Brooklyn into stealing the Grimorim and uses it to enslave Goliath's mind. Causing Brooklyn to be resentful of her.
  • She, with the help of Xanatos, uses pieces of her rookery brother to create Coldstone and set him against Goliath and his clan.
  • She almost kills Brooklyn, Lexington and Broadway before Xanatos stops her.
  • Breaks into Elisa Maza's apartment and tries to kill her by shooting a poisonous dart that would've killed her in 24 hours, that her badge luckily protects her from.
  • She chases, shoots at and fights Hudson who is an elderly gargoyle and wounds Goliath.
  • She has the magic mirror stolen for her and summons Puck to kill all humans, which luckily never happens due to his incompetence. She caused him to turn all humans into gargoyles and Goliath and his clan into humans.
  • She and Xanatos tricks Goliath into giving her the Phoenix Gate and she travels back into time and tries to corrupt her younger self.
  • During the day in her human form, she and Macbeth kidnap Coldstone and use him to trap Goliath and his clan and eventually kidnap them as well, and when Elisa tries to rescue them, she would have killed her had Macbeth not suggested she physically fight her instead.
  • In her human form during the day in Paris, she tricked Macbeth by disguising herself as "Dominique " and "marrying" him and tries to kill him and take his wealth for Thailog, believing Thailog cares for her.
  • She tricks David Xanatos into allowing her to broadcast her magic spell that turns all humans who hear it into stone statues at night, tying Owen to a chair and forcing him to hear the spell to turn him to stone, and even managing to shatter at least dozens of the human statues, and even would have killed Owen and Elisa while she was stone at if it wasn't for Bronx.
  • When Xanatos and Goliath try to undo what she did and turn the humans to normal, by setting the sky on fire, she sets it so that their backpacks would explode prematurely and locks Xanatos out of his computer, but they managed to get the code from her anyway.
  • She gets Thailog to break her out of Talon's prison and helps him capture Goliath and his clan, including Angela, who Demona lies to by pretending she didn't know she was her daughter, and tries to set her against the clan.
  • Its revealed the she was the one that killed Jason Canmore's father, who was one of the the last hunters, by dropping him off a large building to his death right in front of his kids, although he did start it by attacking her, this was still an overkill.
  • She employed Dr. Anton Sevarius to create the CV 1000 Carrier Virus and set Operation Clean Slate in motion and used the Fulfillment Spell engraved on the Medici Tablet to merge the carrier virus with a case of D/I-7 detergent that she stole from Xanatos, creating a powerful plague designed to destroy all intelligent life on the planet, and invoking the Praying Gargoyle's to protect gargoyles from it. This was fortunately foiled by Goliath.
  • When Goliath destroys the Praying Gargoyle and dares her to throw the CV 1000 carrier virus vial, she actually throws it in rage before Goliath luckily catches it, endangering all life on the planet
  • She became one of the shows darkest and dangerous villains and is taken completely serious for majority of the time.

What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]

  • She is too tragic and sympathetic to be NPE, she lost and witnessed the massacre of most of the Wyvern clan by the Vikings, then Goliath and the rest were permanently stone, and with Canmore slaying the last gargoyles of Scotland leaving her all alone and for a millennium has been constantly hunted down by generations of the Hunters and pretty much had to endure a millennium of persecution from humans.
  • She had a couple of moments when she genuinely helped Goliath and his clan such as when she fought off Thailog and saved the clan to protect Angela and when she helped Goliath, Lexington and Brooklyn escaped The Hunters as she didn't want them to kill another gargoyle.
  • It is implied that deep down, she always loved Goliath and was only disappointed by his forgiveness towards humankind, and she blames him for allowing the Vikings to destroy most of the clan.
  • She truly loves her daughter Angela as she saves her and rest of the clan from being killed by Thailog.

Trivia[]

  • She is one of 4 Gargoyles characters to be Inconsistently Heinous (along with Matrix, Jason Canmore and Robyn Canmore) , and the second Disney animated series Villain to be IH after Emperor Ping the Pitiless from DuckTales.
