Wade Winston Wilson, also known as Deadpool, is a major character in 20th Century Studios' X-Men film series.
He is a ruthless and skilled assassin who regularly kills people for money, but later warms up to the idea of doing heroic things for his friends and family. Despite this, he still retains his villainous traits throughout the trilogy.
He is portrayed by Ryan Reynolds and in the Latin Spanish Dub he was voiced by Pepe Toño Macías.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
In General[]
- While most of the people he kills are villains, not only are his kills needlessly brutal, but he also usually kills them for revenge or the heck of it rather than because they deserved it.
- He is extremely callous and careless towards the lives of innocent civilians caught in the crossfire of whatever he is doing and feels no remorse for getting them killed unintentionally.
- He is extremely petty and mischievous, often killing or getting people killed either for his own personal amusement or for the most pettiest of reasons.
- Despite other villains being more heinous such as Ajax, he stands out with his high kill count, low resources, and brutal methods.
- Even as he crosses over into the MCU, he is still able to compete with villains due to not only lacking resources to do more damage or more heinous crimes, but still continues them in the Deadpool and Wolverine Movie as he brutally mutilates or kills many TVA agents or ratting Johnny Storm out because he wasn’t Captain America, or even using Nicepool as a human shield despite the fact he could heal.
Deadpool[]
- Before he got discharged from the Canadian Special Forces, it was confirmed he had killed 41 people.
- He attacks a guy in a brutal way by slamming his head on a pinball game repeatedly and then stabs two other guys during his escape.
- He also kills more 6 people during his escape.
- He kills someone while they are sitting on a toilet.
- He beats someone to death using a safe.
- He killed a woman just because she worked for Ajax.
- He shoots a man then slices another one in half with his katana.
- He causes a crash on a highway just so he can kill the bad guys, not caring about endangering many innocents in the process.
- During this, he also makes a car crash into the cars of other innocent people.
- After he couldn't shoot Francis, he decided to shoot another person for no reason.
- When an innocent falls of a scaffolding and dies, Wade couldn't care less about him.
- He tries to kill Colossus for distracting him since he missed his chance to kill Francis. He also blames him for Francis getting away even though it was not his fault but Deadpool's.
- When Dopinder kidnaps and intends to kill his romantic rival, Wade encourages him to do it, telling Dopinder that he is proud of him.
- He beats one of his former friends until he falls unconscious just because he now worked for Francis.
- He desecrates some corpses by writing out Francis's name on them using his katanas.
Deadpool 2[]
- He kills members of a Japanese gang in brutal ways. He also does the same at a funeral for an Italian mobster. He then proceeds to kill many people at a Tokyo spa and amputates a man in the process.
- He kills more bad guys and burns one of them alive.
- It is revealed he can cure blindness but doesn't as he reveals the only person who he cares about is Vanessa, who is dead.
- He bludgeons two people to death using an ammo box.
- He went back in time and killed the X-Men Origins Wolverine version of Deadpool and killed Ryan Reynolds to prevent him from being Green Lantern.
Deadpool & Wolverine[]
- In the film's opening, he desecrates the corpse of Wolverine by ripping out parts of his skeleton and using them to kill dozens of TVA Agents in various sadistic and lewd methods, dancing enthusiastically nonetheless.
- After bloodily dancing, he unintentionally makes a Human Centipede with two TVA agents and said, "I'm sorry it isn´t easy to be a Wolverine clone".
- Although he is apologetic for violating some TVA Agents with Wolverine’s claws, he brushes it off by saying how James Mangold tried to stop the Wolverine franchise and ignores them when an agent says how Logan was the only good thing from Canada.
- During his search for another Wolverine to use as the anchor being of his universe, he eventually arrives at a universe where the latter is crucified on an island of bloody skulls. Rather than helping him, Wade simply makes a snide remark at his fate and deliberately chooses to leave him to suffer.
- Upon unintentionally arriving in the "worst" Wolverine’s universe, he assaults a patron for attempting to attack him for accidentally interrupting his game of Pool, though it's unknown whether he killed him or not.
- He purposely riles up Cassandra Nova by snitching on Johnny Storm for insulting her behind her back out of petty spite that he wasn't Captain America despite being played by the same actor, resulting in his gruesome death of which Deadpool felt no remorse for, even after Wolverine rightly called Wade out for getting him killed.
- Wade even lies to save face, stating that Johnny insulted Nova in person when he is being confronted by his friends in the resistance. He only tells the truth when Gambit threatens to kill him.
- Although to be fair, Johnny said to Deadpool that he can quote him if he want to after he did the rant and arrogantly said that he didn't care if Cassandra killed him by skinning him alive (which she ended up doing) or exploding him, however, Johnny at last minute ended up regretting that when Deadpool was gonna snitch him for real and started to get scared of what Cassandra would do to him.
- Wade even lies to save face, stating that Johnny insulted Nova in person when he is being confronted by his friends in the resistance. He only tells the truth when Gambit threatens to kill him.
- He deliberately uses his variant Nicepool as a human shield in order to fend himself against the swarm of Deadpool variants, resulting in his death.
- To make matters worse, Nicepool is essentially a much nicer variant of Wade and helped him and Wolverine in the Void by lending them his car for them to seek out the sanctuary where other survivors of the Void resided in.
- What makes this even more worse is that Deadpool didn’t need to use NicePool as a meat shield as he has incredible healing factor and can heal and survive any injury life threatening or not so in this case he should have been the meat shield for Nicepool. This also means that the only reason he killed him was just to get his guns and Dogpool.
- Though Wade initially didn't know about Nicepool's lack of healing factors, even expressing shock after learning this and attempted to comfort him in his final moments, he immediately subverts it by purposefully putting him out in open gunfire a second time for no reason and happily snatches his gold desert eagle pistols from his bloodied corpse.
- Even Wolverine, who didn't like Nicepool that much either, chastises Deadpool for killing him just because he wanted to.
- To make this worse, he doesn’t even value the gold pistols as he throws them away once they run out of ammo.
- While his intentions to sacrifice himself in order to save his universe is genuine, there is a hint of petty narcissism in his intention due to him gloating and referring to himself as "Marvel Jesus" even mere moments before his heroic act.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He has a lot of comedic moments and is hardly ever played seriously, with his worst acts being played for black comedy. He also has numerous of goofy lines like when he misses a kill but gets one back with "Bad Deadpool. Good Deadpool!", him trying to punch Colossus’s crotch but gets his hand broken and says "Oh your poor wife!", him trying to kill a guy who was crawling on an ice rink and laughing out "You're about to get killed by a zamboni!", and when taking care of a baby, he says "You smell like Hitler's anus, which would make sense!" which all blatantly mock viewers for taking him very seriously.
- Not to mention, his constant 4th Wall Breaks consist of him making fun of his own universe like “McAvoy or Stewart? These timelines are so confusing.”, mocking Logan for being R-Rated and dying while also having his death scene as a sculpture he made, and even telling Fox to “suck it” and head butting the camera as he was a part of Disney now (which is ironic as 20th Century Fox is also a part of Disney) and insulting Cassandra Nova.
- He is an on and off character, as he does do heroic acts that are not done out of pragmatism at times, such as saving Firefist from becoming a bloodthirsty killer.
- He has a tragic backstory of getting late stage cancer and not wanting Vanessa to grieve over his death. He took Francis's treatment only for him to find out that Francis would ruin his life in the process by permanently disfiguring him, causing Wade to have to wear a mask all the time otherwise people would mock his appearance.
- He is a very insecure person, as he couldn't muster up the courage to reunite with Vanessa out of fear that she would reject him due to his disfigured appearance. He was also incredibly distraught after his attempt at becoming an Avenger was shot down, believing this would be his one chance to truly matter at something and pushed Vanessa away as a result. When Wolverine harshly insults him over this, Wade, deeply hurt, doesn't even respond with a quip and instantly attacks him.
- Despite being a mercenary for hire, he is capable of sympathizing with people, as he felt pity towards Cable after learning that Firefist kills his wife and daughter in the future. On that note, he instantly sided with Russel after learning about the abuse he was given alongside the other kids from his orphanage.
- He cares about many people:
- He deeply loved and cared for Vanessa and time travelled back, abusing the use of Cable's time travelling device, so he could prevent her from dying. He was also sad about her dying and fell into a depression for days to the point where he attempted to commit suicide.
- He also cared for the rest of his friends and views them as his loved ones. He has strong friendship with Dopinder and used Cable's time travel device to prevent Peter's death. He went against the TVA to save his universe in order for them to live, even willing to sacrifice himself in order to do so.
- Even though Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead tried to make him join the X-Men multiple times against his will, he still cares for them and even invited them to his party, with Wade even mentioning that he has a lot of respect for the latter’s choice of name.
- Although he abandoned Firefist at the prison, he apologized for this and helped save him from going down a path of villainy.
- Despite being jealous of Wolverine for being the anchor being of his timeline and desecrating his corpse without a second of thought, Deadpool nonetheless respects him as a selfless hero who's saved the world countless times.
- He holds genuine respect and admiration for Thor, expressing shock and happiness by the fact that the God of Thunder was crying over him at some point in the future.
- He has a genuine soft spot for animals, as seen with his love and affection toward Dogpool.
- He has some standards as he helped save a girl from her stalker and hates child abuse with a passion. He also couldn't bring himself to kill an infant Adolf Hitler despite knowing what atrocities he would inevitably commit as an adult.
- Furthermore, it's implied that the whole reason Wade was dishonorably discharged from the army is that he felt like he was killing people who didn't deserve it.
- He has some Pet the Dog moments in where he doesn’t kill a Cantonese Bartender and puts out her cigarette, possibly threatening a stalker for free, and returning all the members of the resistance, including Laura, home to their own earths.
