Lucas, more commonly known by his alias Dark Oak, is the main antagonist of the third and final season of the 2003 anime Sonic X. After having his body and his army destroyed in a nuclear attack, he formed the Metarex army and sought to wipe out every non-plant being from the universe.
In Japanese, he was voiced by Jōji Nakata as Dark Oak and by Katsuyuki Konishi as Lucas.
In English, he was voiced by Matt Hoverman in both forms.

What Makes Him Heinous?[]
Past[]
- Even before his rise to villainy, he stole Green Gate's Planet Egg in a desperate attempt to win the war, endangering the very planet he was trying to protect.
- After finding out that the nuclear strike against his army was done by the female members of his species, he had them all killed.
Sonic X[]
- He tried to kill every non-plant being in the universe.
- Being the Metarex leader, he is responsible for the crimes of Pale Bayleaf and the rest of the Metarex.
- He attacked Super Sonic, forcing him to scatter the Chaos Emeralds across the universe.
- He stole Planet Eggs from multiple worlds, risking them succumbing to the same fate that his own planet did.
- While it could be argued that he is an extremist for wanting to build a better universe, he subverts this quality by trying to outright destroy the universe by blowing up the Planet Eggs.
- He is the main reason that Cosmo had to sacrifice her own life.
What Makes Him Inconsistent[]
- He suffers from a genuine tragedy which is played for sympathy. He only stole the Planet Egg so he could win the war and save his planet. However, Earthia didn't see it this way, and she attacked Lucas with nuclear weapons, causing him to lose his body, his army, and the home he desperately tried to save driving him over the edge.
- He is affable to the other Metarex and is shown to be genuinely upset when they die (unlike Pale Bayleaf).
- He spared Cosmo, showing that he does care about her.
- He has a sympathetic death. As a spirit, Lucas realizes his actions were wrong, he sincerely apologizes to Earthia for everything he did and is forgiven for his betrayal of Green Gate. He then seemingly passes on to a peaceful afterlife.
Trivia[]
- He, Shadow, and Gerald Robotnik are the only characters from Sonic X to be Inconsistently Heinous.
- Dark Oak being based on Darth Vader from the Star Wars franchise is very fitting, as Vader is likewise Inconsistently Heinous.
