~ The Dark Flash refusing to give up on his goals. |
“ | It's not entirely your fault, Barry. I pushed you out of the Chronobowl on that September 29th so you could start me on this path. How do you like our endless paradox? I made you create me. And now you're the one... in my way. No matter how close I get to winning this fight, you go back and let Mom die. You're the inevitable intersection. And you do have to let go. | „ |
~ The Dark Flash to the DCEU's Flash. |
Bartholomew Henry "Barry" Allen, also known as the Dark Flash, is the main antagonist of the 2023 DC Extended Universe superhero film The Flash.
He is an alternate timeline version of Barry Allen/The Flash, the famous metahuman speedster who saved the Earth from Steppenwolf and his Parademons along with the rest of the Justice League.
However, his timeline was created due to Barry Allen's attempts to save his mother, resulting in the creation of a world that perishes with General Zod's invasion, leading this Flash to fruitlessly rewind time several times in hopes of fixing his timeline while damaging the fabric of reality.
Like his original version, he was portrayed by Ezra Miller.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- Decided to time travel back in time countless times to save the Batman and the Supergirl of his universe as well as his Earth from perishing at the hands of General Zod and the Sword of Rao, who succeeded at terraforming his planet unlike the original timeline.
- Despite that his constant failures were a sign that this event in the Flashpoint timeline was a fixed point in time and that there was no way to change it, he kept trying, only traumatizing himself much more through his multiple attempts.
- Knocks the DCEU Flash out of the Speed Force when travelling through time before he could return to his proper point in time just to ensure he would create the time loop that led to his existence, preventing the DCEU Barry Allen from seeing his original Batman ever again.
- Intercepts the DCEU Barry Allen when he realizes that they must allow his mother Nora's death to save time, trying to stop him before Flashpoint Flash (Dark Flash's past self) returns to the Speed Force as he starts the loop that leads to Dark Flash's creation.
- Thanks to his actions, DCEU Flash and Flashpoint Flash start witnessing how all of reality crumbles and how several of the Multiverse's worlds collapse with each other within the Chronobowl, claiming incalculable lives with the destructions of universes like the one from the classic Adventures of Superman television show, one protected by some Jay Garrick variation, the original Superman film series, the 1960s Adam West classic Batman television series and from the unproduced Superman film Superman Lives.
- Although the two Flashes point out all the catastrophe he is causing, the Dark Flash ignores this despite being aware of the extent of his actions, claiming that he has found a way to fix this all even though he hasn't.
- He attempted to kill the DCEU Flash one last time before Flashpoint Flash steps in the way, mortally wounding his past self and thus erasing himself from existence.
- His actions against reality would leave DCEU Flash with no more options than going back to the past to undo all damage, letting his mother die (but not before an emotional encounter) and go back to a new universe different to his original one, possibly losing the original versions of some of his friends, like Bruce Wayne.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He used to be as selfless and heroic as his two counterparts, living happy with his parents and roomates and teaming up with the DCEU Flash as well as his world's Batman and Supergirl to save everyone from the Sword of Rao's plans, but ended up witnessing how his friends died and resorted to go back in time to save them, only getting them killed through other ways due to the Flashpoint timeline's catastrophe being a fixed point in time, leading Dark Flash to horribly mutate and becoming desperate over the trauma of seeing all happening again no matter his efforts until his mind snapped, making him too sympathetic to be PE or NPE.
- Wanting to save Batman and Supergirl proves how much he cared for them despite meeting them just for a few days, with his crimes against time and the Multiverse being primarily to save them as well as his home planet.
- He is a well-intentioned extremist, as he genuinely believes (though in a twisted way) that his time travelling actions are going to fix reality.
- He was fond of his DCEU counterpart until he finds out that he will stop him, which is when the Dark Flash tries to kill him. He also didn't intend to kill his own past self, being horrified upon doing so.
