“ | My old friends... Are dead. Once brainwashed by those filthy pit dwellers, there's no return. No worries, with you all out of the picture, I will use those golden eggs from Grizz Co to help make me lots of machinery to FORCEFULLY BLOCK OCTOLINGS OUT! | „ |
~ Cyalux revealing his plans. |
Cyalux Clover is a major antagonist in the Inkopolis Chaos Trilogy. He is the main antagonist of Inkopolis Chaos 2, and a posthumous antagonist of Inkopolis Chaos 3. He was once a friend of Samuel and Luke, but they drifted apart over the years. When they reunited, Cyalux lost his emotional attachment to them because they befriended octolings, but decided to keep this secret. He is the leader of the Octobusters, a criminal organisation dedicated to keeping octolings out.
His Evil Ranking[]
Debated Validations[]
- Cyalux tells his Octobusters that he is normally against killing, but is willing to make exceptions if he has to. This could show that he has standards against needless killing. However, this is likely hypocritical, as not only did he try to kill dozens of innocent octolings and his friends on a train, but he later tried to kill his friends during the climax. Not only that, but he was dead set on killing Ruby out of revenge, showing that his so called standards may simply be delusional hypocrisy.
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- He stole lots of golden eggs from Grizz Co.
- He put a knife in Natalie’s old bag, to make Melissa trust her even less, indirectly caused a heated argument between her and Samuel, causing him to flip a table in anger.
- He captured hundreds of octolings forcefully.
- He tried to have Samuel, Natalie, Luke, Katelin and around 30 octolings die in a staged train crash to prove a point to the octolings coming up.
- He sabotaged an abandoned stadium to use as a base for himself and the octobusters.
- He tried to force all the octolings out of Inkopolis, and back into Octo Valley, a dictatorship place with horribly strict laws, lots of poverty, suffering, brainwashing and death. While he didn’t know about Lieutenant Obsidian, it’s still vile as everyone knows how horrible Octo Valley is. It is also possible he heard how horrible it was from Natalie when he was pretending to be her friend.
- In fact, when he spoke to his hostages, some of his captive octolings begging to not be send back, which shows he is fully aware of how horrible Octo Valley is, but didn’t care, despite the possibility that they would severely punished for deserting.
- He tried to have Ruby murdered on stage in front of all the octobusters, and then would’ve sent the video to her friends.
- He tried to kill the protagonists after being exposed.
- He indirectly helped destroy Ruby’s mental state after he downright told her that she killed his brother, and “was to blame for everything”.
- Despite the high heinous standards, he stands out from having a higher attempted kill count than any other villain in the trilogy (beside Obsidian), and trying to send all octolings back to Octo Valley to live in suffering which, while isn't genocide, just as bad.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He has some standards he won’t cross, specifically torture. He refuses to torture anyone, showing disgust at Scarlet Spiker for doing it, and even turning down the opportunity to torture Ruby, despite his hate for her.
- He holds some care for numerous people:
- He genuinely loves his brother, Magentark, and wants to avenge his death, even though he deserved it.
- He also cares about his fellow octobusters, seeing them as his friends, and respecting all of their talents, not mistreating any of them.
- Even though he did betray them and try to kill them, it is shown that he likely still cares about Samuel and Luke deep down, as he is shown trying to convince Samuel to join him, showing he probably didn’t actually want to kill his old friend.
- He is pretty comedic at times, such as singing a racist parody of ghostbusters, where instead of ghosts he wants to bust, it’s octolings.
- He’s tragic, as even though the death of his brother doesn't excuse his actions, Cyalux never understood that Magentark was evil, so in his perspective, he was an innocent person who was murdered by an octoling for stopping his “heroism”, and despite being told he was manipulated and how his views were wrong, Cyalux wouldn’t listen due to being gaslighted far too much.
- His death is played sympathetically, with Natalie feeling horrible about it, and Samuel saying farewell to his former friend. It’s also portrayed sympathetically in the third story, with Samuel still missing Cyalux.
- Due to his numerous redeeming qualities above, it could be argued that Cyalux is too sympathetic and a villain by proxy, as the story shows that he was truly a misguided person who only fell into evil due to his brother's toxic influence.
Trivia[]
- He used to be Villainous Benchmark due to being assumed of failing the heinous standard of Inkopolis Chaos. However, his attempted murder over 40 people in the train really did enough to pass the standard, so he qualifies.
- He is the only villain from Inkopolis Chaos to be Inconsistently Heinous.
- He is one of five of CrystallicWolf108’s villains to be Inconsistently Heinous, the others being Wolfalco, Dr. Twister, Midnight and King Stormlance.
