“ | Terry: Claudia, wait! You don't have to do this! It won't chase us anymore! You won! It's trapped, please! Claudia: You're right. It won't follow us, but not because it's trapped. It won't follow because it is afraid of me! |

~ Claudia as she showed her more sadistic side. |
Claudia is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside her father Lord Viren) of Netflix‘s The Dragon Prince franchise.
She is the younger daughter of Lord Viren and the sister of Soren, who is a dark magic user who does her father's bidding so her family can stay together.
She is voiced by Racquel Belmonte.
Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Heinous?[]
In General/Background[]
- While she has several moments of comedy to her character, as the show goes on, they begin to deminish, and while she still has one or two, the story goes out of its way to lose its humour when she does a heinous act, particularly when she killed the Being.
- She is a dark magic user, which drains the lives of creatures to do spells. Claudia sometimes does them for simple tasks, such as making pancakes.
- She also doesn't care about the beings she kills, as she shows apathy when Soren called her out on it.
- At some point she managed to capture a unicorn. She maimed and presumably killed the creature and brought its horn to Viren, who used it in a spell that transformed Sarai's spear into a weapon that Harrow would use to petrify and kill Avizandum, which in turn allowed Viren to steal the dragon kings egg. Claudia would then help hide the egg in her father's secret chamber to be used for dark magic.
Book One: Moon[]
- She tried to stop Rayla and later Callum and Ezran from getting the egg back to Xadia, despite knowing that doing it could stop a war between Xadia and the Human Kingdoms.
- She made smoke wolves with dark magic to attack Callum, Ezran and Rayla to stop them from escaping with the egg.
- She convinced Soren not to kill Runaan to interrogate him in her father's dungeon.
- She used a dark magic spell to burn King Harrow's body even when Opeli ordered Viren not to and it was against the orders of how a king/queen should be mourned for seven days by their people before their bodies are burned.
- She was aware that Viren had Gren held in his dungeon and did nothing about it, causing Gren to stay trapped in the dungeon for weeks until Viren was temporarily arrested and Opeli found him while searching Viren's dungeon.
- She put Rayla asleep and then tried to convince Soren to kill her. Even Soren was not bad enough at that point to try to kill Rayla in her sleep.
Book Two: Sky[]
- She initially tried to manipulate Callum and Ezran into joining her and Soren to Katolis. She even tries to seduce the former by going on a date with him solely to convince him to go back to Katolis, although she does stop herself from kissing him because she felt she needed to tell him about Callum's father's death.
- After failing to convince Callum and Ezran to go with them, Claudia and Soren decided to kidnap them, although they failed thanks to the help of Rayla and Lujanne.
- She used a dark magic spell to stop Team Zym from escaping from her and Soren.
- She and Soren captured Corvus and tried to have him arrested for treason, even though all Corvus did was follow Amaya's orders to protect the princes.
- After finding an unconscious dragon named Pyrrha, Claudia tried to mutilate her by cutting her body in pieces so she could use Pyrrha's body parts for dark magic.
- She tried to kidnap Azymondias when she found him and Ezran, and only didn't because she decided to go help Soren after he broke his spine fighting Pyrrha.
- Being unable to accept that Soren would never be able to walk again, Claudia searched the room Soren was being taken care in and broke several items and threw a cabinet while searching for something to help Soren get better.
- She killed a deer to use it for a magic spell to repair Soren's broken spine.
Book Three: Sun[]
- She took joy at Viren humiliating the soldiers who refused to join his plan to wage war on Xadia.
- She gave Viren Pyrrha's horn, which allowed Viren to cross into Xadia with his army. Because of this, she is responsible for many of the actions both Viren and Aaravos did while in Xadia, such as the corruption of the Sunforge and the Battle of the Storm Spire, both of which caused hundreds of deaths.
- While in Xadia, Claudia captured an Adoraburr, which she likely killed for a magic spell.
- Even when given the chance to leave Viren and go with Soren, Claudia still stayed with her father despite having realized how bad she was becoming.
- During the battle of the Storm Spire, Claudia used a spell to blow up the defenses of the sunfire elves protecting the spire, leading to dozens of deaths.
- She made an illusion of Viren to distract Soren and Ezran while Viren went to capture Azymondias, which resulted in Soren thinking he had killed his father and caused him to suffer from PTSD from that event.
- She revived her father by commiting atrocities that she deemed so awful that she started crying when telling Viren about them.
Book Four: Earth[]
- Despite knowing how dangerous Aaravos was, Claudia still tried to free him in order for Aaravos to save her father's life.
- Even when her father tried to convince her to stop her plan to free Aaravos and instead enjoy his last days alive with him, Claudia refused and slapped him in the face, saying that she is not going to give up on him after all she did to bring him back.
- When Ibis tried to stop her from getting the staff of Ziard, Claudia tried to kill him.
- Even when Soren tried to convince her to change, Claudia refused and started to talk about how Soren was being manipulated by the elves and dragons in an attempt to convince Soren to turn on them.
- She put Team Zym and Rex Igenous asleep so she could steal a map of Aaravos' prison from the latter.
- She tricked Rayla into giving her Terry back by making her believe that she threw the cursed coins of her loved ones into lava, only to reveal that she never threw them and that she still had them.
- This would be the limit for Terry, who called her out on her cruelty.
Book Five: Ocean[]
- She almost killed a dragon who attacked her and took joy at taunting it while she was preparing to do so. While she does eventually release it, it was only because she wanted to prove her superiority over it since it was scared of her.
- She threatened Ezran to force him to tell her where Aaravos' prison was.
- During her breakdown after Ezran had a shoal of fish attack her, she yelled that she would kill Callum, Ezran, and Rayla if she has to.
Book Six: Stars[]
- She killed Sir Sparklepuff to make Viren's resurrection permanent with his blood. Her acknowledging that the blood of Viren's child was needed to perform the spell makes this worse, since she killed him knowing he was her half-brother.
- She briefly abandoned Terry behind after her father leaves out of a belief that he would eventually leave her too, ignoring his cries to stay as she walked away.
- She released Aaravos from his prison and willingly joins him in his quest to destroy the Star Elves, in spite of Terry's warnings that he was only out for revenge.
Book Seven: Dark[]
- She desecrated the unicorns' resting place by removing one of their corpses' horns for a spell. She also lied to Terry about him being the only one to see the map to trick him into leading her and Aaravos to the location while hiding the garden’s true nature from him. While she is at first reluctant to deceive and use Terry, she decides to go along with it due to Aaravos telling her to.
- Learning this truth from Aaravos causes Terry to leave Claudia for good and join Team Zym's side due to her taking advantage of his trust in her.
- Despite admitting that she does not think her father is in the In-Between because the look on his face told her that he did not have unfinished business after discovering his truth, she still decided to aid Aaravos in his plan probably due to her somewhat agreeing with his desire for vengeance against the elves and the dragons.
- She stabbed Lujanne in the back after realizing she was using an illusion of her mother to trick her, though she survives.
- After this, she mocks Terry for his attempt to stop her by bringing her mother to reason her, despite him saying that he did it because he loves her and to save her from herself.
- She opened a portal to the in-between, leading to the spirits trapped there to escape and endangering the world, something she knew would happen.
- She killed Archmage Akiyu to ensure she couldn't create another orb to imprison Aaravos.
- When faced by Callum and Runaan, Claudia tried to kill them both, during which she nearly shocked Callum to death by removing the air from his lungs through a spell, despite her saying that she doesn’t want to kill the latter and has no choice.
- She froze Rex Igneous to prevent him from trying to stop Aaravos from finishing the spell to bring eternal night.
- She threw Runaan off the Sunforge's tower in an attempt to prevent him from killing Callum so the latter could imprison Aaravos and avoid getting possessed.
- She nearly killed Soren and Corvus by crushing them to death, although she decided not to.
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- She is very tragic, her mother left her at a young age and was forced to make a decision to stay with her mother or her father, the pet of Barius, Biscuts, who she was deeply attached to, died, and she was ignored by her brother for reviving it. She also suffered from gaslighting from her father, who, despite caring for her, served as a very negative influence and caused her to turn into full villainy. More recently, she was constantly manipulated by Aaravos to aid him in his goals despite him causing the death of her father. In the end, Claudia is portrayed as less of an evil person, but as someone who desires to keep her family together, no matter what she has to do to achieve it.
- She is shown to be incredibly insecure, and these insecurities is what lead her to be manipulated into villany by her father. In Puzzle House, she questioned if she was a good person since she caused trouble doing dark magic and people were often mad with her because of it.
- She cares for all the members of her family:
- She loves her father greatly and is loyal to him, protects him on multiple occasions, obeys him at almost every single one of his orders, and spent two years trying to revive him. When Viren decides to leave for Katolis to face his consequences, she desperately begged for him to stay before she breaks down in tears, later doing the same when she found his body.
- She cares for her brother deeply, as they had a great bond with each other, killed a dear and lost part of her sanity to bring him back to normal, was very saddened when she left him, and even at her worst, Claudia still showed moments of genuine care for him, including sparing his life despite his attempt to kill her.
- She also loves her mother, as her leaving Claudia still deeply affects her in the present, and it's mentioned that when she left, Claudia cried for days in her room. When Lujanne fakes being her mother in the present day, Claudia was genuinely heartfelt at seeing her again, even if she quickly realized it wasn't her mother.
- She loves Terry, who, despite being an elf, she is regularly kind towards and even comforts him after Terry was forced to kill Ibis to save her. She also gives Rayla the soul coins containing her loved ones upon Terry's request.
- She greatly respects and cares for Aaravos, thinking highly of him when talking to Soren about him, and even after Viren ended up surviving through the sacrifice of the Being, Claudia still decided to free Aaravos because she felt she owed him for saving her father. She also ends up sympathizing with him over the loss of his daughter, shedding tears when he explained what happened to her. Following her father's death and Aaravos being freed, Claudia started seeing Aaravos as a new father figure, enjoying their time together and being in tears when Aaravos opened a portal so she could escape from their enemies while calling her his daughter.
- She shows multiple moments of genuine kindness:
- In Puzzle House, she freed a giant named Kruha from his chains. It's also shown that Claudia was a genuinely good person in the past, which made her capable of seeing the map Kruha was guarding, while Viren and Kpp'Ar were unable to do so.
- She ultimately refused to kiss Callum when trying to manipulate him about going back to Katolis, and told him about what had happened to his father.
- She helped in saving a village from being destroyed by Pyrrha.
- She told Ezran to go back to his brother when she was about to kill a deer for a dark magic spell, not wanting him to see it.
- She refused to use dark magic against a leaf lynx due to not wanting to hurt or kill it in front of its child, even when it seemed it was going to kill her.
- She spared Soren and Corvus out of the remaining kindness she still had.
- She is shown to have some moral standards, as she was horrified when Viren turned Kasef and his army into sunfire monsters.
- She is very affable towards anyone who isn't against her or is her enemy, although this began to fade after the timeskip.
- She is shown to have honor on multiple occasions, such as when she woke up Rayla after Soren told Claudia that he couldn't kill someone in their sleep, and gave Rayla the coins of her loved ones after she was criticized by Terry for tricking her.
- She is capable of regret, as she felt guilty when she had to betray Callum and Ezran, apologized to the latter when she scared him, and is so tormented by the acts she was forced to commit to revive her father that she started crying when remembering them. She also genuinely considers giving up dark magic after seeing how it caused her to feel apathetic about other creatures, and only didn't because her father was killed and Aaravos manipulated her into continuing helping him by hiding the truth that he was the one who did it.
- In the past, she apologized to her father for causing trouble when trying to use magic, to the point she started crying and thought she was not a good person for it.
- She is played for sympathy at multiple points in the story, such as when she told Callum the truth about his father's death, her and Callum's relationship getting broken when she tried to kidnap them, her telling Ezran her past with her mother, Claudia and Soren parting ways, her telling her father what she had to do to revive him, her losing a leg while fighting Callum, Ezran, and Rayla and Viren abandoning her to return to Katolis.
