Elizabeth Afton, also known as Circus Baby, is the secondary antagonist of the Five Nights at Freddys Novel Trilogy.
She is the fourth a final robotic recreation of Henry's late daughter Charlie. However upon her creation she was infected with her creators Agony specifically his rage. She would later be possessed by Elizabeth the daughter of William Afton and became determined to gain his approval no matter the cost.
Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Heinous?[]
- Shortly after her creation she attacked and attempted to kill a young Charlie out of blind rage before being deactivated by Henry.
- When she was stolen and reprogrammed by William Afton to be a killing machine she murdered Afton's daughter Elizabeth. Although to be fair it was unintentional as said programming compelled her to do so.
- When she was locked away by Henry, years later she telepathically communicated with Charlie and tricked her into thinking she was her “late” brother Sammy to emotionally manipulate her into setting her free.
- After Charlie's supposed demise at the hands of Twisted Freddy, she stole her appearance and identity and uprooted her entire life with all of Charlie's friends being fooled save for John.
- Although she acts kind, sweet, sensitive, comedic and affable while pretending to be Charlie it's all part of her manipulative facade and does not detract from her villainy.
- While she did seem to genuinely love John at first happily going on dates with him and seemingly being hurt when he acts cold towards her, she subverts it once her cover is blown and even attacked John later on when he tried to defend Charlie from her.
- When she finds out that Clay Burke is close to exposing her as an imposter, she breaks into his house and brutally attacks him in an attempt to kill him. Although, Clay survived, he was left hospitalized and with a large scar on his face.
- She actively assisted in Afton's plans to become immortal no matter how horrible they were. She kidnapped four kids for him to painfully experiment on and even took part in the torture and experimentation of the amalgamation which was possessed by the souls of Afton's victims.
- She went to a scrapyard hoping to find Charlie and even threatened and pressed it's foreman Bob for information.
- It's also possible she murdered Bob when he could not help her find Charlie as we never see him again afterwards.
- In her efforts to find Charlie she attacked her Aunt Jen for answers. When Jen refuses to give her any information she brutally murders her by ripping out her stomach.
- Because Jen assumed she was the real Charlie she told Baby that she always loved her. Baby mocked this sentiment by sarcastically saying she loved her too.
- When Jessica follows her to uncover the truth, Baby kidnaps her and ties her up.
- When Jessica accurately tells Baby that William Afton never made anything with love (including her) she angrily threatens to rip her in half for merely insulting her father.
- She forces Jessica to assist her as she crudely operates on William under the threat of death, something that was quite traumatizing for her.
- When Carlton went to Jessica's apartment to retrieve a specialized earpiece to combat the animatronics, Baby tried to kiss him only to emit several blades from her face to mutilate and kill him.
- During her fight with Charlie she brutally knocks out John when she tried to stop her. It's even shown he had to wear a boot afterwards to heal implying she broke his leg.
- She reveals to Charlie that she is nothing more than a robotic replica of Henry's real daughter, essentially shattering her sense of self for the sake of tormenting her. She even calls her the soulless ghost of Henry's regrets just to add insult to injury.
- To prove her point of Charlie not being real she brutally rips the Ella doll out of her chest which was her source of power and the sole thing keeping her alive.
- She outright admits that although she was tasked by Afton to retrieve Charlie she would much rather kill her out of spite as her hatred for her eclipses her love for own her father.
- When she notices that John has woken up she takes the form of a perfect replica of Charlie and intends on permanently uprooting her life after killing her. She even sadistically asks Charlie how far she could get with John before he notices.
- It's also possible she planned on using Charlie's form to trick John into sleeping with her, essentially raping him.
- She can be considered indirectly responsible for Charlie's death as she forced her to sacrifice herself to take down Baby once and for all.
- Although she at first had moral agency issues as she was infected by Henry's agony and even admitted that after her creation she was left in a blind rage and could not comprehend her feelings. This no longer holds up as the soul of Elizabeth gave her a proper moral agency, intelligence and full understanding of her feelings and actions.
- Although William technically did worse than her, Baby still stands out due to playing a major role in his diabolical plans and her extreme personal villainy towards Charlie doing everything in her power to make her suffer.
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- She is far too tragic for NPE as when she was created by Henry he not only poured his rage into her but neglected and left her to rot in his workshop even calling her "wrong". Additionally she was possessed by the neglected and abused daughter of William Afton who yearned her father's love and approval. Elizabeth's soul, memories and feelings bled out to her and she was shown to be deeply affected by them and vowed to gain her father's approval no matter what. These factors left Baby emotionally insecure and broken at her core as she just wanted to be loved and appreciated.
- Additionally it's implied that the reason she uprooted Charlie's life is so she could actually experience what it was like to truly live a life due to her entire existence consisting of neglect and scorn.
- It goes without saying that she deeply loves her father William. Assisting in his plans, looking up to him, being angry when he is insulted and being distraught when he is disappointed in her. Overall one of the main reasons she committed her crimes was to gain his approval and affection even though William saw her as nothing but a pawn and a tool.
- Her death is played for sympathy as dies sadly lamenting the fact that she never got to live a life and that she ultimately died miserable and alone.
Trivia[]
- This is the only version of Circus Baby to be Inconsistently Heinous, as her video game version is Near Pure Evil due to caring for only her father William and having a tragic past which is treated with slightly less sympathy.
