“ | Ruby: No, but I... I wasn't using you like Trevor was. He's a total assh*le. I really, really, really like you. Charlie: Oh. Yeah, I know. Okay? I was using you. That's why I kissed you in front of the waitress. That's why I banged you a bunch of times, just to make the waitress jealous. Amazing, you slept with me almost instantly, and by the way, a quality woman doesn't do that. She doesn't say yes right away. She says no to a man, for years, like, ten years. That's what a real woman does, okay? You know what you were acting like? A stupid little rich sl*t. And that's all that you are. Ruby: (sobbing) How can you do this to me? Charlie: Are you still talking? Go away, dumb-dumb. Go run and hide. Go from me. I don't want to see you anymore. Ruby: (sobs and runs away) Charlie: (laughs) Women, right? Ah, man, all right, cool. I'm out! All right!

~ Charlie coldly explaining how he manipulated Ruby |
Charlie Kelly is one of the five main protagonists of black comedy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Though considered the nicest member of the gang, he has still done several heinous things.
He was portrayed by Charlie Day.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- Stalked "The Waitress" for years.
- Pretended to have cancer to manipulate his friends and get the waitress into bed.
- Alongside Dennis and Mac he abandoned Dee to the mercy of a mugger.
- Kidnapped and tortured restaurant critic Lyle Corman for giving Paddy's Pub a bad review.
- Gave Brad Fisher a nest of hornets out of jealousy over him dating the Waitress.
- Although it could argued and the episode frames it as if Brad deserved it, considered it's revealed in the ending that he wasn't going to marry the Waitress and was just playing with her feelings, Charlie was still going to give him the box even before finding out about his true intentions.
- Pretended to be in love with a woman named Ruby Taft as part of a scheme to get the Waitress back into his life and cruelly humiliated her.
- He blocked off the bathroom and an extra room in his apartment for no reason whatsoever, meaning that he's been making his and Frank's living arrangements harder just because he felt like it.
- When a fire broke out at an apartment, he, alongside the rest of the gang, he trapped several of his adversaries in the apartment so they “wouldn't have to face their problems”
- Alongside Dee, he kidnapped and attempted to cannibalize a homeless person.
- Him and Mac beat up a bunch of kids over a stolen bike. While Mac did beat up some kids, Charlie kicked one kid so many times he died.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- All of his actions are played for laughs.
- He genuinely cares about the other members of the gang, most notably Frank and also Mac. He's also the one who arguably gets along with Dee the best out of the bunch.
- Although he gets annoyed with her a lot, he does genuinely care for his mother and actively hates his sisters for how they treat her.
- He is tragic due to growing up without a father and being neglected by his unhinged mother, who he constantly has to look after in his adulthood, and it's heavily implied that he got molested by his uncle. He's gotten a fair share of mistreatment from the gang as well, as it's been mentioned that he's been raped by Dee more than once.
- He at times shows standards such as being disgusted at Ryan and Liam McPoyle for falsely accusing their teacher of rape and is also against pedophilia, rightfully wanting nothing to do with uncle due to him being a pedophile himself. Additionally, Charlie thought it was extremely cruel of Mac to reject his kind and estranged uncle in favor of his abusive mother and tells him off for it, only giving up because Mac refused to see reason.
- He arguably has some moral agency issues due to his stupidity and clouded judgement. However, he will sometimes do evil deeds out of his own volition and is capable of being very smart and clever on occasions, so this is a very minor prevention at best.
- He is on & off and sometimes does good actions.
