Cedric the Sorcerer, also known as Cedric, is the main antagonist of the 2012 Disney Junior animated series Sofia the First.

He is a sorcerer who plans on trying to get Princess Sofia's magic Amulet on her necklace in order to get the power to rule all of Enchancia. However, he ends up failing due to being somewhat incompetent and occasionally feeling remorse. In "Cedric Be Good" and "Day of the Sorcerer", Cedric has now officially given up on his goal of trying to take over the Kingdom with Sofia's Amulet and reformed himself.

He was voiced by Jess Harnell.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • He wants to steal Sofia’s amulet and keep it for himself.
  • He makes devious plans to dethrone the ruler of Enchanica and take over the kingdom to make everyone obey his orders.
  • He is more than happy to endanger children (especially Sofia) to succeed in his plans and get his way.
  • He makes up a plan to steal Sofia’s amulet by giving Sofia a spell that will make everyone in a ballroom fall asleep for a very long period of time, and then he intended to blackmail her to give him the amulet.
  • He tried to kill Sofia by attacking her with magic and psychologic powers just to claim her amulet.
  • He transforms himself into a sea monster in order to steal a mermaid’s magic tiara, and he and Wormwood attempted to kill Sofia to get their way.
  • He condemned numerous people to a fate worse than death by freezing them with Medusa Stones, preventing the victims from moving or talking. He also did this to steal Sofia’s amulet behind her back.
  • Initially, he didn’t show remorse for his crimes and believed that he was the greatest sorcerer who has ever lived.
  • While the show's heinous standard is low given it's generally aimed at kids, he stands out for temporarily placing several people to an "And I Must Scream" fate via freezing and petrifying them, meaning he does the worst he can with his resources.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He redeemed himself by betraying Grimtrix and ending his partnership with him. He later showed remorse for most of his crimes (despite not originally being remorseful at first) and becomes a Near Pure Good hero who passes the admirable standards of Sofia the First by committing a multitude of heroic deeds, which automatically disqualifies him from PE and NPE.
  • He genuinely cares for Sofia, Amber, James, and their friends.
  • Despite temporarily killing a few people by freezing them with the Medusa Stones, Cedric ultimately has standards against killing people and only prefers torturing others, which is seen when he occasionally endangers Sofia and freezes multiple people with Medusa Stones.
  • He is extremely tragic, as he has been poorly regarded and mocked by many people, including his sister, father, and childhood friend Roland. Roland even implied he would choose someone else if Cedric wasn't part of a royal wizard line. It's also implied that this has happened to him ever since he was a little boy, and he is also very much aware and hurt by other people's opinions on him. Thus, Cedric has genuine insecurities that are played for sympathy in the show, as he desires power merely to prove that he is capable of greatness.
  • He has a sense of honor, as he claims that despite manipulating others, he will not harm them unless he really wants to resort to villainy. He also detests lying.
  • He has several comedic moments that don’t take him seriously, which are mainly due to his bumbling, gawky and overall entertaining nature. As a result, he is not serious enough to be NPE.
