Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? Insanity is doing the exact... same f***ing thing... over and over again, expecting... shit to change. That... is crazy; but the first time Somebody told me that... I dunno, I thought they were bullshiting me, so boom – I shot him. The thing is, okay... He was right. And then I started seeing: everywhere I looked, everywhere I looked, all these f***ing pricks, everywhere I looked, doing the exact same f***ing thing... over and over and over and over again thinking: "This time, it's gonna be different; no, no, no, no, no, please... This time it's gonna be different." ...I am sorry, I don't like the way you are looking at me... Okay, do you have a f***ing problem in your head? Do you think I am bullshitting you? Do you think I am lying? F*** you, okay?! F***. YOU! It's okay, man. I'm gonna chill, hermano. I'm gonna chill... The thing is... alright, the thing is: I killed you once already... and it's not like I am f***ing crazy. It's okay... It's like water under the bridge. Did I ever tell you the definition... of insanity?
~ Vaas Montenegro giving his famous "definition of insanity" in his monologue to Jason.

Inconsistently Heinous villains who suffer from mental disorders and/or displayed some form of insanity. These Inconsistently Heinous villains have serious mental disorders and an unstable mental state. Unlike Mentally Ill Pure Evils, some Mentally Ill IHs' mental disorder does affect their moral agency and thus classify them as Impaired Agency.

Examples of Mentally Ill IHs are:

  • Darth Vader, who suffers from borderline personality disorder.
  • Jason Voorhees (Original), who suffers from hydrocephalus and schizophrenia.
  • Davy Jones, who displays symptoms of clinical depression at several points.
  • Bryce Walker, who appears to have some sort of narcissistic personality disorder.
  • Spinel, who is shown to have borderline personality disorder and is shown to have signs of it (e.g. fear of abandonment/rejection, mood swings, explosive anger, and unclear sense of self) throughout.
  • Catra, who also displays signs of borderline personality disorder as well as signs of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder.
  • Mika Misono, who suffers from dependent personality disorder and borderline personality disorder.
  • Daki, who due to nearly being burnt alive as human, suffers from pyrophobia in which it's a huge trigger for her when Nezuko uses her blood fire.
  • Bullseye, grapples with a range of mental health issues. He suffers from borderline personality disorder (BPD), including unstable relationships and violent tendencies. His obsession with Julie and the need for precision hints at OCD. Moreover, he hears voices, indicative of a psychotic disorder like schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder.

Do not add Psychopaths to this category as they are completely sane and fully aware of reality, whereas mentally ill villains are not completely aware of reality and have limited views on it.
