Inconsistently Heinous villains who are considered humorous and generally funny to at least a certain amount of people for their behaviors and appearances, however their actions are still taken seriously in-universe though that isn't always the case. Their polar opposites are Seriously Good Inconsistently Admirable Heroes. Also contrast with Game Changers.

Trevor Philips, GLaDOS, Tohru Adachi, Fleegle and Drooper, BoJack Horseman, Doll, Walter White, Boris Anderson, Jax and Vaas Montenegro are prime examples of Laughably Evil Inconsistently Heinous villains.

NOTE: An Inconsistently Heinous having one, two, or overall small amount of minor comedic moments is not sufficient to make them Laughably Evil (e.g., Koba, Mewtwo, Weather Report, and AUTO). A Laughably Evil Inconsistently Heinous has to have their comedic moments more prominent, memorable, and in greater abundance.

It is rare for a Hate Sink villain to be Laughably Evil, however, some can qualify if:

  • The villains is intentionally made to be hated, yet frequently come of as comedic (Kevin McCallister, The Walrus)
  • The Villain uses a comical persona to hide their more serious acts (Scrappy-Doo)
  • Villains who start off as comedic, yet get more serious as the movie goes on.

NOTE: This category differs from Comic Relief because they are mostly funny which meant to be lightening the mood of the story that is serious in nature while Laughably Evil is a more broad term that can refer to any villain who comes across as funny. It’s also different from Comedic, because those are genuinely comedic characters from comedic media. However, all characters from both categories fall under this category, even though not all Laughably Evil villains are either.
