His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- After surviving the Santa Cabeza massacre, Carlito and his younger sister Isabela decided to infect the entire United States with zombies in revenge for what the government did to their people.
- He released several wasps throughout Willamette, Colorado, infecting and killing almost everyone in the town, which was about 53,594 people.
- Whenever he meets Brad Garrison and Frank West, he attempts to kill them both to prevent them from meddling in his plans on multiple occasions.
- He kidnaps Dr. Russel Barnaby, the creator of the wasps that accidentally caused the Santa Cabeza incident, and hangs him from the mall ceiling under a mob of zombies, intending to be eaten.
- He rejects Isabela's attempts to reason with him and stop his vendetta against the United States, even going so far as to shoot her, though he instantly regrets doing this afterwards.
- After feeling cornered, he proceeds to attempt to blow up the entire mall, not only to kill Frank and company for getting in his way, but also to launch all of the wasps into the atmosphere and thus infect the entire country, which he would have accomplished if Frank hadn't stopped him.
- After his fight against Brad once he loses, Brad decides to take him in rather then kill him, only for Carlito take advantage to stab him and locks him in a place full of zombies to let them eat him to death with Brad getting his intestines ripped out and slowly bleeding to death by the time Frank finds him.
- Even after his defeat, he refuses to admit it, hoping that Isabela will carry on his ultimate revenge conspiracy. He insists that it is not over and even mocks Frank by comparing zombies to Americans, highlighting their "greed." This demonstrates his complete lack of remorse for his actions.
- It is later revealed that, even before starting the zombie outbreak in Willamette, he gave over 50 orphans, suppressor, a Zombrex prototype, and sent them to various populated cities with the intention of turning them into zombie time bombs and infect the entire country, one of those orphans being Nick Ramos. This would have consequences later in the series.
- Overall, he is the one responsible for basically everything bad that happens in the series, his actions having caused such a negative impact that it would be felt long after his death and also cause many more zombie outbreaks indirectly.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He has a rather tragic backstory, to say the least. He lost his entire family and loved ones in Santa Cabeza after the government orchestrated a massacre in the town when its residents were accidentally infected with zombies. This traumatic event served as the catalyst for all his actions. Even his death is portrayed with sympathy, as he mourns his people and whispers an apology to Isabela while holding a pocket-sized picture, likely because he feels guilty for dragging her into his schemes.
- He deeply loved his sister, Isabela. Although he shot her and left her critically injured when she tried to reason with him, he immediately regretted his actions and later apologized. In a particularly sympathetic moment, before attempting to set off the bombs and take his own life, he expressed his love for her one final time, saying, "I love you."
- Even if he intended to spread zombies in the U.S. through orphans, he also intended to end said zombie outbreaks at some point; hence his decision to make one of the orphans completely immune so that a vaccine could be found in the future.
