I'll get you for this, Pan! If it's the last thing I do!
~ Captain Hook swearing revenge on Peter Pan.
SMEE!
~ Captain Hook when he is almost eaten by Tick Tock and the Octopus, also his most famous quote.
Great Scott! No sooner did I rid meself of that cursed crocodile and now this!
~ Captain Hook when seeing the Octopus coming to eat him.
Hook: 48, 49, 50, Mr. Smee, Are we walking in circles?
Smee: Aah, well, Umm... Why do you say that, Captain? [Hook points at the skeleton down below at Skull Rock while searching]
Hook: This Skeleton, you pleasuring idiot!
~ Hook's most famous quote in the game Peter Pan: Adventures in Neverland when he and Smee goes wrong ways at Skull Rock.

Captain James Bartholomew Hook, also better known as Captain James Hook and simply known as Captain Hook, is the main antagonist of Disney's Peter Pan franchise, one of the secondary antagonists in Mickey's House of Villains, the main antagonist of the Disney Fairies movie The Pirate Fairy, and the main antagonist of the Disney Junior show Jake and the Never Land Pirates. He is the archenemy of Peter Pan and Jake.

In the original film, he was modeled and voiced by the late Hans Conried. Since 1977, he has been voiced by Corey Burton, who also played Count Dooku in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars. In The Pirate Fairy, he was voiced by Tom Hiddleston, who also voiced King Loki in What If...?.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

In General[]

  • Overall, Captain Hook has a deep hatred for Peter Pan and does anything he can to kill him even if unprovoked by Peter and the Lost Boys.
  • Despite losing his hand to Peter Pan, it doesn’t serve as a motivating factor for his crimes considering he was already a ruthless pirate before Peter cuts it off.
    • Not to mention, the Lost Boys, the Darling kids, and Jane all had nothing to do with Hook losing his hand to begin with, and yet, he still attempts to kill them since they serve as Peter Pan’s allies, showing he has a deep hatred for children.

The Pirate Fairy[]

  • He manipulated Zarina into helping him steal the pixie dust so that he can use it to make his ship fly so that he can head to Earth.
  • When Zarina outlived her usefulness, Hook trapped her inside a cage so that she can't stop him, taking on his true role as leader of the pirates when he was making Zarina think she was.
  • When Tinker Bell and her friends took back the pixie dust, Hook threatened to drop Zarina in the water and let her drown if they do not give him the pixie dust.
  • He then dropped Zarina in the water anyway with her only barely surviving, despite Tink giving him the pixie dust.
  • He attempted to murder Tinker Bell and her 5 fairy friends when they got in his way, as well as leaving his crew when they are knocked off the ship.
  • In this movie, he is taken seriously more than his other appearances in other medias with his only real comedic moment is his defeat of him being chased by the baby crocodile.

Peter Pan[]

  • He abducted Tiger Lily and tried to force her to reveal the location of Pan's hideout, leading John, Michael and the Lost Boys to be incriminated by the Natives.
  • When Tiger Lily refused to say a word, he attempted to drown her.
  • He murdered one pirate for annoying him by playing the accordion by shooting him with a deringer pistol.
  • He manipulated Tinker Bell into revealing the location of Pan's hideout.
  • He and the Pirates had all the children abducted.
  • He sent Pan a bomb to kill him and destroy him. It led Tinker Bell to be severly wounded by warning Pan.
  • He attempted to kill all 6 of the Lost Boys along with the 3 Darling kids by forcing them to walk the plank and drown at sea or become pirates.
  • He threw one of his crew members overboard after being informed that there's no splash.
  • Once disarmed, he begs Peter Pan for his life, and when this latter turns around, he tried to kill him with his hook.

Return to Neverland[]

  • He attempted to feed Jane to an octopus. He wanted also that Peter Pan and Tinker Bell die in the attempt to save Jane.
  • He manipilated Jane by inciting her to find his treasure in order to ambush Peter.
  • He attempted to kill all the lost boys along with Peter Pan by making them walk the plank.
  • He attempted to steal as much treasure as possible.
  • After Jane freed Peter and the boys, Hook attempted to kill her.

Jake and the Never Land Pirates[]

  • Once he had access to the doom stone, he started turning everyone in sight into stone and planned to take over Neverland by turning everyone into stone.
  • Throughout Jake and the Never Land Pirates, he attempted to murder the three heroes multiple times.
  • While Jake and the Neverland Pirates would later introduce more villains who can be considered more dangerous than Hook, like ShiverJack, Lord Fathom, Dread the Evil Genie, The Sea Witch, Shade the Shadow Pirate, Chaos Khan, Doctor Undergear, Captain Wraith and Grim Buccaneer for example, Hook has way lesser resources than a lot of them, as well as outright outheinouses some of them since a majority of them are too standard and/or falls into fridge horror.
  • While it's mostly debatable if the series is truly canon, Battle for the Book reveals that the events of the first Peter Pan movie is still canon, so Hook's actions from the first movie still happened.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He is far too comedic for PE or NPE since he is rarely ever taken seriously due to his comedic nature, as well as his scenes with the crocodile.
  • He is very tragic as it was revealed in Jake and the Neverland Pirates that he had a terrible childhood, and while he may have been a ruthless pirate before, losing his hand to Peter, who then fed it to the crocodile as a childish prank, was still a traumatic event for him and it led him to suffer from PTSD and fear the crocodile and while this doesn't justify his misdeeds, it does justify his hatred for Peter.
  • He is a scapegoat as he consistently winds up in humiliating defeats, particularly after his battles with Peter Pan.
  • He has several moments of honor and care for others:
    • He offered to pardon the Darling children and the Lost Boys if they join his crew.
    • He has a legitimate friendship with Mr. Smee.
    • He cares about his two other remaining crew members Sharkey and Bones.
    • He did show some standards when he was disturbed that ShiverJack froze Sharky, Bones and Smee, who were his only crew, and said that seems a bit drastic.
    • He legitimately cares about his mother Momma Hook.
    • In the series, he develops genuine romantic feelings for Red Jessica.
    • In the series he does respect Jake, as he teams up with him to defeat other villains like Beatrice La Beak, Lord Fathom and the Grim Buccaneer.
  • He is On & Off as there are some episodes of Jake and the Never Land Pirates that have him teaming up with Jake rather than attempting to stop him. Even if his motives weren't the best, he never attempts to betray Jake or make the situation worse.

Trivia[]

  • He is the only Peter Pan villain to be Inconsistently Heinous (if you don't count Sweet Pete).
    • On top of that, he and the Walrus are the only two Disney Villains of the 1950's not to be Villainous Benchmark.
  • It's been theorized by fans that he is the cause of the assassination of Ariel’s mother, Athena; if this turns out to be true, it would have made him worse and would have made him the overarching antagonist of the Little Mermaid Series.
    • Even if this meant he'd have to compete with Ursula, he would still stand out as he has less resources than her, given the fact that he is a mere pirate, while Ursula has a vast amount of resources to her disposal, such as magic contracts, spells, and even once had control of Triton's trident.
  • He, alongside Davy Jones and Hades, are the only Disney Inconsistently Heinous Villains to appear in Kingdom Hearts.
  • He parallels with Peter Pan, who is Inconsistently Admirable.
