Daniel Robitaille, better known as the Candyman, is the main antagonist of the supernatural horror slasher film series Candyman, based off the short story The Forbidden" from the Clive Barker's anthology book Books of Blood. In life, Daniel was the son of a former slave and an artist who was commissioned by a wealthy white man to paint a portrait of his daughter.
Unfortunately for Daniel, he fell in love with her and when the affair was revealed, Daniel was chased to the site the Cabrini-Green Project would eventually be established. He was brutalized with his hand being cut off with a rusty saw and replaced with a crude hook. He was then smothered in honey and left to be stung to death by the bees. From there, Daniel became the Candyman the urban legend stating that he would appear in a mirror to kill whoever summoned him by saying his name five times.
He is portrayed by the late Tony Todd.
Villainous Overview[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- His backstory is largely tragic as he was killed by a lynch mob and a wealthy landowner for having an affair with his daughter. He became the way he is due to the extremely cruel way in which he died.
- He genuinely cares about his wife, to the point he falls in love with Helen because she reminds him of her.
- He kills primarily to sustain himself the implication being that should people no longer believe in him he would cease to be.
- There is a consistent flair of sorrow to him.
- Due to the nature of his legend changing, the ending of the 2021 film indicates that he could potentially become a vigilante of sorts who would use his supernatural powers to protect the African-American community of Cabrini-Green.
