What I look like is only half the story... what I am is a lot more complicated.
~ Blackarachnia
It'll be a long time before I ever trust another Autobot. Especially you, Optimus.
~ Blackarachnia

Blackarachnia, formerly known as Elita One, is a supporting antagonist in Transformers: Animated. She is a former Autobot who was mutated into a partially-organic Transformer with spider-like abilities and seeks the means to cure herself, and later to create other partially-organic Transformers. She is based on her counterpart in Beast Wars.

She was voiced by Cree Summer.

Her Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Her Heinous?[]

  • After being left behind by Optimus Prime and Sentinel and mutated into a technorganic, she joins the Decepticon after feeling betrayed and resentful of all not only them, but all Autobots in general.
  • After arriving on Earth during Halloween, she attacks Bulkhead and Bumblebee and absorbs their powers.
  • Tries to manipulate Sari into giving her the All-Spark key, but Optimus stops her from doing so leading to her to kidnap Sari
  • After revealing her true identity to Optimus, she takes Sari's key and plugs it into herself, attempting to cure herself, but ends up draining all organic life in Detroit, including Sari, and shows no remorse for it.
  • When Optimus begs her to stop, she throws Sari off the building, only to be saved by Bulkhead and Bumblebee.
  • After Optimus saves her by taking the key out and offers to come back with them to find a cure together, she instead drains his energy, proclaiming how it'll be a very long time before she trusts an Autobot, especially him.
  • After Sari leaves the Autobots after having her key taken away, Blackarachnia kidnaps and manipulates her into leading her to the All-Spark so she can use to cure herself.
  • After being washed up onto shore of the island where the Dinobots reside after the events of the Season 1 finale, they take her in and after discovering Meltdown's research in his lab, she orders the Dinobots to break him out to have him remove her organic half.
  • When Optimus Prime, Prowl, and Bumbleebee arrive at the island, she captures and absorbs Prowl and Bumblebee's powers.
  • Gives Bumblebee and Prowl a dose of venom, which would make them go offline permanently in two megacycles, if she didn't administer the antidote to them, in which turn, threatens Optimus to go with Grimlock to retrieve Meltdown's genetic modifier in exchange for the antidote.
  • After Optimus saves her from Meltdown after he betrays her, she tricks Optimus into getting closer to her which made Grimlock attacking Optimus, giving her the opportunity to escape.
  • Kidnaps Wasp and manipulates him into mutating himself into a technorganic robot using a transwarp generator she created, in an effort to cure herself.
  • When Sentinel and Optimus make it to the island, she absorbs Sentinel's power and admits to Optimus that she wouldn't care if her efforts to cure Wasp would fail and cause him to go offline.
  • While she does only have 3 major appearances and a few minor appearances in the show and does have competition against Megatron, Starscream, Lockdown, Meltdown, Shockwave, and Swindle, she does manage to stand out as she almost drained all organic life in Detroit by causing them to slowly age to death to destroy her organic half as well as cruelly mutating Wasp into a technorganic himself to find a cure for herself.
    • And while she's had some comedic moments and is often incompetent as a villainess, this doesn't detract her villainy in the slightest.

What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]

  • She is too tragic and sympathetic to be NPE as she was essentially abandoned by her closest friends, Optimus and Sentinel and trapped inside a cave and ends up mutating into a technorganic spider hybrid against her will and ends up allying with the Decepticons due to her mistrust with the Autobots, especially since most of them are racist against organic beings, so much so that she ends up crying due to what she has become and the betrayal she felt.
  • She does have honor despite her incompetence, as she did give Optimus the antidote for Prowl and Bumblebee after he retrieved Meltdown's genetic modifier and saving her life from Meltdown.
  • After Wasp's transwarp mutation becomes unstable and reaches critical mass, she traps Wasp and herself in a cocoon of her webbing before he explodes, saving Optimus, Sentinel, Bumblebee, Jetfire, and Jetstorm, showing she still does care about them to some degree.
