“ | Marge Simpson: Bart, have you finished packing your old toys for charity? Bart Simpson: Almost. I just want a minute to say goodbye. Marge Simpson: Oh, mm, of course. Bart Simpson: Goodbye. |

~ Bart Simpson lying to his mother Marge about what he wants to do with his toys. |
Bartholomew Jojo "Bart" Simpson is the main villain protagonist of "Toy Gory", the first segment of The Simpsons Halloween special "Treehouse of Horror XXXI".
He is the ten year old son of Homer and Marge Simpson, the eldest brother of Lisa and Maggie Simpson and the grandson of Abraham Simpson. Unknown to his family, however, Bart is a destructive spoiled brat who enjoys wrecking his toys for fun, but his days of terror come to an end once his toys, who were actually sentient, get fed up with his abuse.
Like his original version, he was voiced by Nancy Cartwright.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- It is implied that Bart behaves like a spoiled brat and a jerk with his family and acquaintances, as his best friend Milhouse Van Houten mentions that he mistreats him, his sister Lisa finds it odd for him to say that he's gonna watch any TV shows she wants to see and Homer and Marge find it strange when he says that he loves them.
- He overall enjoys wrecking and destroying his toys to have fun. What's worse is that his toys are alive and are left injured, mutilated or dead due to their "playtime" with Bart, which means Bart commits mass murder whenever he "plays" with his toys. His abuse is listed as the following below:
- He mentally traumatized his Jack-in-the-Box to the point where he doesn't want to come out of his box.
- He left an unopened present just like that, making it to resent everyone.
- He popped his Elmo doll's eye.
- He beheaded a Stacy Malibu doll.
- He decides to wreck and ruin his old toys before boxing them to donate to charities under the pretext that he wishes to say "goodbye" to them. The various ways he destroyed said toys include:
- Blending several green soldiers in a blender into a liquid that he pours on his father Homer as he sleeps on his hammock, with the liquid entering through hir mouth and exiting through one of his ears.
- Blowing up a toy train with explosives at his room.
- Shoving a firecracker into the mouth of a toy dog, shoves the dog inside the head of a toy astronaut and shoves the astronaut inside the mouth of a toy dinosaur, slowly detonating the three toys.
- Tying up Stretch Arm-Long's elongated arms to his bed and to the family car while his grandfather Abraham drives to destroy the toy, causing the car to be pulled into and crash in his room, destroying it and endangering his grandfather's life.
- Sawing the heads of several dolls off at the garage, something that even disturbs Homer a bit.
- He blasted his Radioactive Man action figure, which had just been given to him by Marge as a "reward" for his donations, by putting him inside the microwave, despite the instructions saying that the toy shouldn't be put there because of his radioactivity, making Radioactive Man suffer a slow and agonizing death that begins with one of his eyes popping out and then exploding, breaking the microwave in the process.
- Leaving Radioactive Man to die alone in the microwave because Homer invites him to steal mail from their neighbours, leading to Marge getting splashed by the toy's colorful and sticky remains.
- He faked being sorry when his toys confront him at his treehouse saying that he wouldn't have treated them bad had he been aware that they had feelings, leading Milhouse, who had just arrived to assist the toys, to point out how hypocritical he is.
- It should be noted that even if Bart mass murdered his toys without knowing that they were alive, this stops being a prevention to his atrocious personality because he becomes aware of how serious his actions were and shows zero remorse for them.
- He refuses to beg for undeserved mercy by mocking "Dr." Stacy Malibu as she prepares to give him "plastic surgery" by saying that she kills like a girl, leading Malibu and the rest of the toys to get their deadly vengeance on him.
- Although his death is terrifying, it wasn't unwarranted.
- Unlike the original Bart Simpson, who is a joking yet well-intentioned troublemaker and prankster who does genuinely loves his family, relatives, friends, and also treats his toys well, this version of Bart is a sadistic bully who finds fun in destroying his toys, treats everyone around him badly and has no remorse for his unintentional mass murder. Fittingly, as the opening "You Put a Dent on Me" song points out, Bart is devoid of any redeeming qualities.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is too comedic to be NPE or PE, since his actions are a parody of Sid Phillips from Toy Story, with most of his actions being played for black comedy.
- He showed shock towards Grampa being endangered by Stretch Arm-Long, showing he never intended to put his grandfather's life in danger.
- He was somewhat played for sympathy at the end, considering how his toys got back at him. Furthermore, the segment ends with Homer and Marge crying over his fate.
- His death, while warranted, was extremely disturbing and inhumane to the point that, despite his atrocities against his toys, he qualifies as a scapegoat: to be precise, his toys disembowel him, stuff him with toy parts and play with his corpse karmically. Even worse is how the ending song implies that Bart is still alive somehow and can feel what happens around him, meaning that he is now in a fate worse than death, which can be seen as too much as at least he killed most of his toys in quick ways.
Trivia[]
- In typical "Treehouse of Horror" fashion of parodying pop culture, the "Toy Gory" segment parodies the Toy Story franchise, with Bart Simpson filling a similar role to that of Sid Phillips, who is a Villainous Benchmark instead.
- While Bart commits basically the same, yet more extreme, crimes as Sid due to being a parody of him, the reason for which Bart isn't a Villainous Benchmark is because although he committed mass murder on his toys without knowing they were alive, he does learn later that they are sapient, yet he still shows no remorse for his actions. In contrast, Sid reacts with horror the moment he learns his toys are alive and is heavily implied to have stopped harming them since then.
