| “ | Am I bloodthirsty? Bloodthirsty. Am I ruthless? Ruthless. Am I an evil bandit? Evil. My children, all those who love me, let's go! | „ |
| ~ Barmaley addressing his crew. |
Barmaley is the titular main antagonist of Korney Chuckovsky's children's fairy tale Barmaley, as well as the main antagonist of David Cherkassky's Doctor Aibolit animated series loosely based on it. He is a ruthless pirate who, alongside his crew, attempted to take over Africa to abuse and eat its children and animals, but was stopped by Dr. Aibolit.
He was voiced by Georgy Kishko and Semyon Farada in various scenes and episodes.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- He used to be a pirate and a robber before he was locked up in a tower.
- His dialogue and his theme song strongly imply that he had eaten children in the past.
- After escaping from his prison, he and his crew went to Africa and distracted animals with their performance while his henchman was preparing drinks full of diseases (including very dangerous ones, such as malaria) for them, which they drank and fell sick.
- He and his crew rounded up the sick animals and locked them in cages, turning Africa into something in-between a zoo and a concentration camp.
- When he learned Aibolit was coming to save the animals, he ordered Crocodile to swallow the sun, which left the world in darkness.
- After Aibolit cured the sick animals and Crocodile was defeated and gave up the sun, he used Cockroach's help to scare the animals back into submission.
- He and his crew dumped about a dozen living rabbits (implied to be very young) into a cauldron and attempted to cook them alive.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- There are many moments where he is played for laughs, such as accidentally tearing off the wall of the prison tower when escaping and complaining that getting eaten by Crocodile hurts.
- He seems to care for his crew to a degree, judging by his friendly conversation with One-Eye.
- After the heroes spared him, he redeemed himself, befriended Aibolit and stopped abusing and eating children.
Trivia[]
- Barmaley is currently the only Inconsistently Heinous villain to come from a Soviet cartoon.
