Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Heinous?[]
- After her Jedi Master was killed by a group of warlords, she tracked each one of them and killed them then took over the planet of Ratatak to rule as its new master.
- She joined Count Dooku and his war efforts.
- Killed as many Jedi as possible because she hates them. While her body count is not as high as that of General Grievous, she has still killed a lot of Jedi in her own right and is infamous in the Republic.
- Works as an assassin for Dooku, assassinating multiple people on her various assignments.
- She and the bounty hunter, Durge, used swamp gas developed by Doctor Jenna Zan Arbor to wipe out an entire Gungan colony on the moon Ohma-D'un which orbits Naboo.
- The two of them then filled several ships with the same gas and attempted to set them to crash on the surface of Naboo. This would have allowed the Separatists to conquer the planet and subjugate the remaining people and it's explicitly stated by Durge himself that the gas would kill millions of people. The Jedi manage to thwart their plan before they implement it.
- During her duel with Jedi Master Darrus Jeht, she attempted to bring him closer to the Dark Side.
- She attempted to kill several Jedi dissidents to frame Mace Windu for their deaths.
- Ventress orchestrated various events on the planet of Ord Cestus to manipulate the Republic into thinking that the Separatists are expecting a huge batch of Droids from the ruling families of the world. This would have caused the Republic under Chancellor Palpatine to bombard the planet and the resulting civilian casualties would have caused more worlds to join the Separatist cause.
- When the X'Ting gang leader, Trillot, who is her ally welcomes her in his mansion, Ventress decides to practice with one of his body guards. She beats him so badly that the man is in critical condition.
- She kills Trillot, for failing her.
- Ventress captured Obi-Wan Kenobi and Alpha-17 and tortured them for weeks in her fortress on Ratattak before the two were able to escape.
- She attempted to help Dooku frame the Jedi for the kidnapping of Jabba the Hutt's son to ruin the alliance between the Hutts and the Republic. Later, under orders from Dooku, she lies that the Jedi have killed Jabba's son after she fails to retrieve him, knowing very well that Dooku would use this to turn Jabba against the Jedi and that he would try to murder the child.
- She killed the bounty hunters hired by Jabba to get his son and sent their heads back to him.
- She lifts one of her battle droids in the air and drops him from great height when she gets frustrated after Ahsoka and Anakin manage to rescue Jabba's son.
- She attempts to kill King Katuunko of Toydaria after he decides to join the Republic.
- She killed Captain Faro Argyus for annoying her even though the two were on the same side.
- Ventress fought the Jedi to prevent them from learning anything about Kul Teska's Gravitic polarization beam which could destroy an entire solar system. This makes her a complicit in Dooku and Teska's plans to destroy the entire Naboo system.
- She and Grievous launched an attack on Kamino to stop the production of new clones for the Republic.
- During the Battle of Khorme, she supported the local Separatist warlord, Unger Gout, even though he has enslaved his own people, forces them to work in mines and even feeds their corpses when they die to the living to save money on food. Ventress even suggests that he should put explosives in the mines to kill the slaves if the Jedi come to help and she puts the explosives herself after Unger agrees to her plan.
- She planted an explosive on Harko Vane's ship to frame Anakin for his murder.
- After Dooku betrayed, she killed a group of scavengers who threatened her and refused to comply with her demands (though, it could be argued this was justified because they would have killed her too).
- After her return to the Nightsister clan, she goes to the male Nightbrother village and kills many of the young males in brutal trials to select a new apprentice she could use to execute Count Dooku.
- After she chooses Savage Oppress and promises she wouldn't harm his brother, she breaks her promise. She and Mother Talzin brainwash Savage with a ritual which increases his physical strength and turns him into a murderous psychopath. Then, Ventress commands him to kill his own brother which he does because he can't remember him. This also makes her responsible for Savage Oppress' rampage later on in the story.
- After the Nightsister village is destroyed by Grievous, Ventress goes to a bar on Mos Eisley and kills the bounty hunter, Balnab, for bothering her.
- Sometime later, Ventress returns in the service of Count Dooku and under his orders, executes most members of a religious group called the Sun Guard.
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- She has a very tragic backstory:
- When she was still a baby, the Nightsister clan gave her to a warlord from Rattatak to ensure the safety of the clan. Even though her new master was kind to her, she was still raised as a slave.
- Her master was killed during a raid which left the young Ventress heartbroken.
- She was then adopted by the Jedi Master Ky Narec who trained her to be a Jedi outside of the temple and the two developed a strong bond and became heroes to the people of Rattatak. However, when Ventress was a teenager, a group of warlords assassinated her master which left the young Ventress heartbroken again. She also blames the other Jedi for abandoning her master and desires to have revenge on them and joins the Dark Side and Count Dooku for that reason.
- She wants to please her Master, Dooku, and be by his side and that's part of the reason why she is willing to commit evil acts for him. While he cares about her to an extent, he also sees her as a pawn and tries to have her killed on two separate occasions.
- Ventress genuinely cares about her slave owner and mourned his death.
- Ventress genuinely cares about her Jedi Master, Ky Narec, mourned his death and her actions are motivated by it. When Obi-Wan steals Ky Narec's sword and manages to escape, Ventress cries because she had lost the only thing reminding her of her former master.
- She has several Pet the Dog moments.
- During one of her missions, she initially orders a group of X'Ting to attack the Jedi but then feels remorse and orders them to retreat because she knows they are no match for the Jedi and would get defeated by them and because Obi-Wan's words caused her to do it.
- Ventress likes Kenobi to an extent and despite trying to kill him, she still offers him to join her on multiple occasions. In one instance, she saves Kenobi's life from Darth Maul and Savage Oppress and the two then depart on peaceful turns.
- After becoming a bounty hunter, she accepted a job which consisted of protecting a chest a transporting it via train to King Otua Blank. When she realizes that the chest contains a young girl who was kidnapped from her home and was supposed to be the King's new bride, Ventress decides to rescue her because she sees herself in the girl.
- Ventress then helps Ahsoka to prove her innocence because she sees similarities between the two of them since both were betrayed by their masters.
- She grows to care about her people, the Nightsisters, and fights against Grievous to protect their village. When Grievous successfully kills them, Ventress is left heartbroken again and it's played for sympathy by the story despite her previous crimes.
- She is played for sympathy a lot by the story. Her tragic backstory aside, she is also portrayed sympathetically when Dooku tries to have her killed, when Grievous kills the entire Nightsister clan is killed by Grievous and she is left without home yet again and on many other occasions. When she is badly injured and seemingly dying in Obi-Wan's hands, the Jedi Master even tells Anakin that Ventress' fate could have been the same as Anakin's if Maul had found him first on Tatooine instead of Qui-Gon to explain why he sees Ventress as a victim and sympathizes with her.
- She redeems herself to an extent in the comic book series Obsession. While she is seemingly dying in Obi-Wan's hands, after being shot by a droid on Count Dooku's orders, she lets go of her hate and tells him to defend the Galactic Core from Dooku. In truth. she placed herself in Sith trance and after she was boarded on a medical shuttle, she woke up and forced the pilots to take her as far away as possible from the war, Dooku and the Jedi which shows that she has abandoned her quest for revenge against the Jedi Order and wants to live in peace.
