You don't need to doubt her judgment. Ammit will light the path to good by eradicating the choice of evil, which brings us to the scarab. That scarab functions as a kind of compass, leading us to Ammit's tomb. She's out there, waiting, longing to be freed. While the cruel masses deserve to face her judgment. And in the wake of their screams, evil eradicated.
~ Arthur Harrow to Steven Grant about his righteous mission.

Arthur Harrow is the main antagonist of the 2022 Marvel Cinematic Universe Disney+ series Moon Knight. An entity known as Dr Harrow serves as one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Khonshu) of the show.

He is a religious zealot and the cult leader associated with the Egyptian goddess Ammit looking to exact justice and judgement based on future crimes. He was also Khonshu's previous Moon Knight avatar of the moon, before Marc Spector took over the title after his betrayal.

He was portrayed by Ethan Hawke.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • Mentioned he took enjoyment in killing and dealing out pain for Khonshu when he was the previous Moon Knight.
  • While well-intentioned, he intends to release Ammit into the world so she can kill millions of technically innocent people (including children) before they can even actually do evil deeds.
  • Killed a woman when Ammit judged her evil in the future.
  • Sent his minions after Steven Grant to kill him and get the scarab to release Ammit.
  • Sent a monstrous dog after Steven to kill him at night at the museum.
  • Had his Disciples of Ammit in the police force kidnap Steven.
  • Tried to kill Steven and Layla with another jackal.
  • Convinced mercenaries Marc and Layla met to turn against them and try to kill them.
  • Tried to manipulate Layla into turning against Marc by revealing he was there when her father died.
  • Successfully killed Marc/Steven albeit briefly by shooting him several times.
  • Killed several soldiers with Ammit's power.
  • Killed the avatars of the Gods who tried to stop him from freeing Ammit.
  • Released Ammit and alongside his minions, killed dozens of people so she could judge them and condemn their souls.
  • Shot at flying innocents to create a distraction while fighting Marc/Steven.
  • Mocked Marc/Steven about how Ammit would have prevented the death of his brother Randall by killing him so his death would never have happened before trying to kill him.
  • Despite the large heinous standard of the MCU, Arthur Harrow, unlike his fellow cultist Kaecilius, who was not aware of Dormammu's plans, is fully aware of Ammit's plans to murder millions of technically innocent people and plays a huge role in them, allowing him to qualify.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He is a genuine an anti-villain who believes Ammit will cleanse the world of evil people and leave only good people remaining.
  • He is honorable, being willing to spare Steven if he gives over the scarab and letting people Ammit judges to be good to live.
  • He has standards, being disgusted by people such as Adolf Hitler and Pol Pot, noting they were despicable men that Ammit would have eliminated and he hates prejudiced-fueled genocide.
  • He is tragic as Khonshu abused him and never let him to be free, which is the primary reason why he betrayed him, and it is played for sympathy.
  • He cares about his followers and has genuine friendships with them, treating them with genuine kindness as long as their scales balance and intending to keep them with him in the new world he creates with Ammit.
  • He showed remorse for shooting Steven/Marc and apologized about it. He also showed regret for having to kill both an elderly follower of his and a man who found the scarab.
  • He is affable to his enemies, offering mercy to Steven several times before resorting to violence and giving him a chance to leave peacefully.
  • He is genuinely and truly loyal to Ammit, even willing to accept his fate at her hands when he thinks she may kill him for his unbalanced scales.
  • His death is played for laughs since it involves him being thrown into the limousine and him bragging about his newfound condition of having Ammit inside of him before Khonshu had him shot in the chest by Jake.
