~ One of Arthur's catchphrases while searching something to scan for insecurities. |
Arthur the Insecurity Virus is the main antagonist of Disney's 58th full-lengh animated feature film Ralph Breaks the Internet, the sequel to the 2012 animated film Wreck-It Ralph.
He's a computer virus created by Double Dan which copies insecurities and paste them on everywhere that is managed to be infected. After being bought by Wreck-It Ralph in hopes to prevent his best friend Vanellope von Schweetz from leaving Litwack's Arcade, Arthur quickly breaks free after infecting Slaughter Race and expands over all the Internet.
In his original form, it was voiced by John DiMaggio, who also voiced Bender Bending Rodriguez in Futurama. In its Ralphs forms, he's voiced by John C. Reilly.
Its Evil Ranking[]
What Makes it Heinous?[]
- He copied Vanellope von Schweetz's glitch (originating years ago thanks to Turbo's meddling in Sugar Rush) and used it to destroy the game Slaughter Race, nearly getting Vanellope killed for good had Wreck-It Ralph not saved her before the game's reset.
- He copied Ralph's extreme insecurities and created numerous clones of him obsessed with being Vanellope's friend.
- The clones ravaged the internet searching for Vanellope, becoming a widespread computer virus known as "the Wreck-It Ralph Virus" destroying various games and websites which likely resulted in the deaths of several characters.
- He had a furious tantrum when Vanellope denied that they were friends and attempted to destroy the entire Internet.
- When Ralph came to save Vanellope, he attempted to crush him to death in his fist, only relenting when Vanellope agrees to be his friend.
- While he started off very flat in character, he developed a personality after copying Ralph's insecurities, becoming clingy and controlling toward Vanellope.
What Makes it Inconsistent?[]
- He had severe moral agency issues, as he was an insecurity computer virus made by Double Dan to do what he did, with there being no indication Arthur could act outside its programming. He also became obsessed with Vanellope only because he adopted Ralph's insecurities about their friendship falling apart, showing that Arthur could be easily influenced by outside factors to behave a certain way.
- Despite being very much obsessed and controlling, he did truly care for Vanellope, saving her from falling to her death and protectively carrying her in its hand.
- After Ralph berated Arthur for being a bad friend, literally facing his own insecurities, he redeemed himself by letting Vanellope go, ceasing to exist.
Trivia[]
- Arthur is the only Wreck-It Ralph character to be Inconsistently Heinous.
