Inconsistently Heinous Wiki

Antwan Hovachelik is the main antagonist of 20th Century Studios' 2021 action-comedy film Free Guy.

He is the egotistical, money-hungry, and narcissistic CEO of Soonami Studios, who stole the idealistic codes for the enhancement of the fictional open world video game "Free City".

He was portrayed by Taika Waititi.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • He stole the code from Life Itself to make his own game Free City and didn't give the actual developers Millie and Keys credit.
  • In his very first scene, he fired a random employee for his own amusement.
  • After "Blue Shirt Guy" (actually Guy) became a celebrity, Antwan decided to put him in Free City 2 even though he said that it would be backwards compatible with the first one.
  • When Blue Shirt's Guy's popularity caused pre-sales for Free City 2 to go down, Antwan decided to reboot the server to make Guy lose all his memories and go back to being an NPC, not caring that this would wipe out the other NPC's memories as well and cause millions of players to go offline.
  • After discovering that Guy and Millie are going to the island that has the proof that Antwan stole the code, he tried to get the game to kill them.
  • When he discovered that Keys is hijacking the game to help Guy and Millie, he fired him.
  • He booted all the players and sent a NPC named Dude to go after Guy in order to kill him.
  • When Guy was about to go to the island, Antwan tries to destroy the servers to the game, not caring that this would get countless NPCs, which he knows are sentient, killed.
  • He fired Mouser for telling him that Free City is Keys' game.
  • While he did give the rest of the Free City servers to Millie, he only did this because Millie promised him she would give him the code and profits to the Free City franchise and not out of any genuine care for the NPCs.
  • He showed no remorse for his crimes even after his own security turned against him and had him arrested by the police and instead tried to say he’s a victim to save himself.
  • His heinous actions resulted in the collapse of Soonami Studios and left Millie, Keys and Mouser to make their own video game company from scratch.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He is way too comedic to be PE or NPE, as he called everybody "sheeples" in the introduction, uses KFC as an example of why making a sequel to Free City is better than making an original game, comically insults Guy in an over-the-top fashion, gets into a yoga pose before trying to do a jump but failing and being forced to leave, and constantly calling people “dude” and “bro” throughout the whole film while making multiple pop culture references. Despite being taken much more seriously in the climax, he is still not taken seriously enough to be NPE, as his defeat is played for laughs with him thinking that his deal with Millie sounded very stupid before being arrested by police while screaming that he’s the victim over and over again.

Trivia[]

  • Despite his very light-hearted nature, Antwan Hovachelik is arguably the darkest and evilest character Taika Waititi has ever portrayed in his acting career.
