We had to sell it because of budget cuts.
~ The Announcer's most famous catchphrase.

The Announcer, also known as the, Speaker Box, is the main antagonist of the animated web-series/reality show-parody Battle for Dream Island.

He is a robotic speaker box who is the host of the titular show and has a group of sentient objects compete in a competition for an island known as Dream Island. While hosting the competition, he shows little care for the contestants and often puts them through dangerous and often lethal challenges. In some cases, he even endangers the entire world through his negligence and bad decisions.

He is voiced by AT&T's Mike Text-to-Speech demo.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

In General[]

  • The Announcer shows little regard for the well-being of those competing in his show. Many of the challenges often have dangerous aspects to them (e.g. traveling through a canal full of monsters, crossing a bridge with ropes made of bendable straws and tape, escaping a volcano, etc). There are also little to no safety precautions taken to protect the contestants from certain death; even when there are, they are ineffective.
    • While the contestants can be revived via recovery, they are still capable of feeling pain.
      • The challenges also caused harm to many recommended characters who were spectating the show.
        • Because of how lethal the challenges are, the Announcer has the second-highest body count in the series, only being preceded by Blocky.
  • The Announcer also treats others poorly in numerous episodes. He would mock others for their faults and would even kill contestants if they knew too much information about his plans.
    • Every time a contestant is eliminated, he would fling them into the Tiny Loser Chamber, a metal box that contestants would have to stay in until the end of the game. The Announcer also treats them terribly as they are left in the darkness with nothing else inside and are given only bread and tacos to eat.

Battle for Dream Island[]

  • In “BFDI 1a”, he forces the contestants to stand on a bar to win the first episode of the series and while it doesn’t look like they mind, he still lets them all fight each other on that bar and does nothing about it.
  • In “BFDI 2”, he made a dangerous course where the teams had to climb up a rock wall, but said rock wall had boxing gloves randomly pop out and punch the contestants.
  • In “BFDI 4”, the Announcer chucks an ice chunk so hard at Pencil, Pen, and Eraser that they get flung across the horizon. He also killed Bubble during this. He then flings Blocky when he gets eliminated.
  • In “BFDI 6”, he randomly starts insulting the contestants’ intelligence and calls them dumb. He also cruelly jokes about Eraser getting eliminated even though he didn’t provoke the Announcer at all during this time and insults him by calling him dumb.
  • In “BFDI 7”, he tricks and traps the contestants in a room with no way out unless they finish a jigsaw puzzle. When he was given the idea that they might starve to death he doesn’t care at all.
  • In “BFDI 10”, he forces the contestants to cry to win the challenge, do a ski race and for the last one a handstand competition in the same episode for a tiebreaker.
  • In “BFDI 11”, he forces the contestants to climb a large flight of stairs for multiple nights without resting and when Tennis Ball falls off of the stairs, he then insults him and calls him clumsy.
  • In “BFDI 14”, he teleports Match into the TLC which means that the people who were sent there don’t even have any time in the sunlight. He laughed about Woody drowning in a bunch of bread and didn’t show any concern about him at all. He also dumps his marble collection into a vat of hydrochloric acid where he attracts around 101 players, with most of them being recommended characters, and some main contestants to just die inside this acid for them to get points.
  • In “BDFI 15”, it was stated that the Announcer has only been feeding the eliminated contestants in the TLC bread for 13 months, and while that means they are fed, they still aren’t given anything else.
  • In “BFDI 18”, he traps and locks 29 recommended characters in the Locker Of Losers (AKA, the LOL). He also kept the contestants inside the TLC for so long that they became desperate and tried to escape.
  • In “BFDI 19”, he cries when some of the contestants reject his cakes and he cries acid and kills Ice Cube, Rocky and David during this and he shows no remorse. He also calls Firey a failure for not getting to the goal.
  • In “BFDI 20”, he sends himself and all of the contestants into space because of budget cuts. He also doesn’t care at all about anyone dying by this as he was fine with multiple contestants dying with that being able to be an elimination.
  • In “BFDI 23”, he threatens to cancel BFDI which would threaten omnicide because BFDI is the universe as proven in BFB with them being canceled, which has them and the universe gone forever. He killed Cheese Orb just so he could make a replacement for the cake.
  • In “BFDI 24”, he sold the Master Recovery Center which was what brought contestants back to life due to budget cuts and he wasn’t concerned about how Leafy was likely going to be dead forever. He made a bunch of bugs that ate everyone except for him with there being 114 people killed by the bugs. He also killed Bubble when the Announcer randomly blurted out that he made them so he could keep his secrets. Along with this, he proceeds to kill all of the bugs at the same time however to be fair they were likely going to eat more people. He then proceeds to use a David Cloner to finish BFDI without the regular contestants to keep the show going. He also bought recovery centers for Firey, Bubble, Leafy and himself with Firey’s life savings but only so he could kill them over and over again which is essentially a death loop.
  • In “BFDI 25”, it stated that the contestants were trapped in there for years. He sells Dream Island to Leafy out of pure greed since he thought that what Leafy wrote down to save the budget which made the whole season of voting and everything meaningless.

Battle for Dream Island Again[]

  • He was the secret host of BFDIA which would make him responsible for the events of that series as well.

Battle for B.F.D.I.[]

  • When he finally returns in “BFB 28”, he immediately starts insulting Four and X about their hosting even though they barely used anything too drastic in terms of money, and proclaims why they aren’t as good as him. He also gets rid of Purple Face by flinging him and starts insulting Four again for no reason. This would also result in the events of BFB 30 with what Four does there along with making X incredibly sad from his merging with the desert.
  • In “BFB 29”, he spends way too much money than was needed for the votes with the budget since it wasn’t used that much. He blows the entire budget instead of $300 and cancels the show with the 3 years of the contestants competing going down the drain. It was said that BFB being canceled will make everyone there be turned off forever. Announcer wanted BFDI to continue after the first season and made BFDIA and ran the season without him being there and only used his savings for the recovery center for everyone because he wanted it to continue and not out of actual care for them. He did all of this to selfishly keep his show and when the budget finally went out he started laughing sadistically when the universe was starting to become lower quality and ending. The universe was only saved due to Flower putting money in BFB.
  • In “BFB 30”, after Blocky privately tells the Announcer that he wants his vote to be locked in for Flower, he pulls out a megaphone and blurts it out for no reason. He also tries to steal the BFDI just for himself even though Flower won it rightfully.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He’s too comedic for PE or NPE with him being played for laughs way too much and some of his worst crimes being played for laughs.
  • He’s on & off since some of his actions aren’t always malicious or villainous and he sometimes doesn’t do anything particularly wrong in some episodes.
  • He apologizes to Four about taking his show and even helps make a party for him and has generally mellowed out.
  • He is genuinely affable to his contestants with one of the notable ones being Profily it being revealed in “The Hidden Contestant” that he is actually pretty polite and nice to them.
  • He is honorable as he took out Blocky and Pen’s scores when he found out that they cheated on a test for the challenge and he’s generally fair with his challenges.
  • He has a Pet-the-Dog moment in "Chapter Complete", where he tried to not hurt Gelatin’s feelings and tried to make the votes between him and Flower were closer than they were.
